Glottis FY26: Softer Freight Rates Cut Revenue, While Q4 Showed a Margin Recovery
Ask Iris
Glottis Limited closed FY26 with a weaker top line, reflecting a softer global freight environment and a correction in shipping rates. Revenue from operations declined to INR 7,226 million from INR 9,412 million in FY25. Profitability also moderated, with FY26 EBITDA at INR 495 million (6.9% margin) and PAT at INR 377 million (5.2% margin).
The quarterly trend was more encouraging. Q4 FY26 revenue rose sequentially to INR 1,959 million from INR 1,439 million in Q3. EBITDA improved to INR 105 million and PAT to INR 107 million, with PAT margin at 5.5%. Management attributed the sequential improvement to better shipment activity across key customers and stronger export-linked movement during the quarter.
Mix remained ocean-led, but air freight gained share
Ocean freight continues to anchor the business. Sea import remained the largest vertical, contributing around 78% of FY26 revenue, while sea export accounted for about 14%. In Q4 FY26, sea import contributed around 73% and sea export around 15%.
A notable development during the year was the rising share of air freight. Management stated that air import revenue grew 23.6% year on year, with contribution increasing to 2.4% from 1.5% in FY25. Air export revenue more than doubled and its contribution increased to 1.2% from 0.4%. Road transport contribution improved to around 5% in FY26.
Operationally, Glottis handled 89,098 TEUs in FY26, lower than FY25, reflecting cautious procurement and inventory correction across markets. In Q4 FY26, TEUs handled were stated at 21,356.
Note: EBITDA excludes other income.
Renewable energy remained the largest end-market
Renewable energy continued to be the dominant industry exposure. The investor presentation shows revenue contribution from renewable energy at 40.85% in FY26, down from 47.54% in FY25. In Q4 FY26, renewable energy contributed around 40%.
Alongside renewables, the company highlighted diversification across sectors such as automobile, agro products, chemicals, textiles, and medical products. Management stated that revenue contribution from the automobile segment more than doubled during FY26, with share increasing to 4.2% from 1.5% in FY25. Agro products were also cited as a growing segment.
Geographically, Asia remained the core region. The company reported around 85% revenue contribution from Asia in FY26, with North America at around 7% and Europe at low single digits.
Balance sheet strengthened, but working capital rose
On the balance sheet, net worth increased to INR 2,809 million as of 31 March 2026 compared with INR 978 million as of 31 March 2025, supported by IPO proceeds and retained earnings, as stated by the CFO. Cash and cash equivalents were INR 1,007 million at year end.
Management also provided a debt snapshot on the call. Total debt as of 31 March 2026 was stated at INR 497 million, and the company described itself as net cash positive, with a net cash position of INR 510 million. Debt-to-equity was stated at 0.18x.
Investor questions during the call focused on higher trade receivables and other current assets. The CFO responded that receivable days increased because the company extended credit limits or credit days to customers, including newly added customers, to support expansion and retention. Other current assets were explained as advances paid to suppliers and prepaid expenses, reflecting the operating pattern of early payments to shipping lines and billing customers later.
Strategy: asset build-out, broader reach, and technology upgrades
The company’s strategic direction centers on expanding revenue streams and strengthening capabilities. Initiatives outlined in the presentation include increasing the owned fleet of commercial vehicles to reduce third-party dependence, acquiring key operational assets, expanding into underpenetrated markets such as Africa, Australia, and South America, and investing in technology.
Technology priorities include implementing specialized ERP platforms for automated multimodal freight management and upgrading transport management systems for real-time visibility and faster warehouse access.
Glottis also positions itself as a specialist in renewable logistics, citing cumulative support for ocean haulage or freight movement of 21.09 GW of solar capacity as of March 2025, and shipment of about 7.29 GW solar panels in FY25.
Takeaways from FY26
FY26 reflected a tougher operating environment for freight forwarders, with Glottis directly attributing the revenue decline to softer freight levels and slower demand. The quarter-on-quarter recovery in Q4 margins suggests tighter cost alignment and shipment-level profitability checks, as referenced in management commentary.
For FY27, management did not provide numerical guidance but stated on the call that it is positive for FY26 to FY27 and is taking measures to cover the revenue decline. The next set of updates will likely be judged on whether the company can convert its network expansion, air freight traction, and diversification efforts into more stable revenue and margin performance across the freight cycle.
