Hi-Tech Pipes: Forging Ahead with Capacity Expansion and Strategic Growth in Q3 FY26
Ask Iris
Hi-Tech Pipes Limited, a prominent player in India's steel processing sector, has unveiled its operational and financial performance for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2025 (Q3 FY26 and 9M FY26). The company demonstrated robust top-line growth, driven by strategic capacity expansions and a focus on value-added products, even as it navigated industry-wide challenges related to raw material price volatility.
For Q3 FY26, Hi-Tech Pipes reported a significant 40.55% year-on-year increase in revenue from operations, reaching INR 1,069.59 crore. This impressive growth was underpinned by the company's highest-ever quarterly sales volume of 1.36 lakh tons, marking a 10% increase compared to the corresponding period last year. The nine-month period (9M FY26) also saw a healthy revenue growth of 16.53% year-on-year, totaling INR 2,719.72 crore, with sales volumes rising by 4.30% to 3.85 lakh tons.
While the top-line performance was strong, profitability in Q3 FY26 experienced some pressure. EBITDA for the quarter increased by a modest 4.09% year-on-year to INR 41.88 crore. However, Profit After Tax (PAT) saw a decline of 9.20% year-on-year, settling at INR 17.39 crore. Management attributed this dip primarily to a sharp correction in hot-rolled coil prices, intensified by an influx of cheaper imports that exerted pressure on industry-wide spreads. This situation, however, saw a positive turn with the government's introduction of a 12% safeguard duty on December 30, 2025, which helped stabilize domestic steel prices and restore pricing discipline.
Strategic Capacity Expansion and Product Diversification
A cornerstone of Hi-Tech Pipes' strategy is its aggressive capacity expansion and diversification into value-added products. The company has made significant strides in this area:
Sanand Unit-II (Phase-II) Brownfield Expansion: The commissioning of this facility in Gujarat adds 1 lakh MTPA of capacity, significantly enhancing the company's capabilities in large-diameter ERW Pipes, Jumbo Hollow Sections, and Structural and fabrication-grade steel products. This strategic location in Western India is poised to serve industrial clusters in sectors like solar, fabrication, engineering, and infrastructure, improving logistics efficiencies and boosting export contributions.
Kathua, J&K Greenfield Manufacturing Facility: A major milestone was achieved with the commencement of commercial production at the Kathua facility in Jammu & Kashmir on January 05, 2026. This plant, with an installed capacity of 80,000 MTPA, focuses on ERW steel pipes and value-added steel products. Its strategic location offers logistical advantages for serving northern markets, and it is expected to contribute meaningfully to volume growth and profitability from mid-Q4 FY26 onwards.
Sikandrabad, UP, Greenfield Facility: On February 09, 2026, Hi-Tech Pipes announced the commencement of commercial production at its Sikandrabad, Unit-III (Uttar Pradesh) Greenfield manufacturing facility. This addition of 1,20,000 MTPA capacity, focused on ERW pipes and hollow sections, further strengthens the company's manufacturing footprint in North and Central India. With this commissioning, Hi-Tech Pipes has effectively achieved a landmark milestone of 1 million tons of installed annual capacity.
These expansions are integral to the company's ambitious vision of reaching 2 million tonnes of installed capacity by FY29. This growth roadmap includes a strategic foray into API-grade pipe manufacturing, aimed at increasing the share of high-value, precision-engineered products for critical sectors like oil & gas, industrial pipelines, and water transmission.
Product Mix and Market Outlook
Hi-Tech Pipes is actively enhancing its product mix, with value-added products (VAP) currently contributing 37% to its revenue. The company aims to increase this to 42-43% by the end of FY26 and further to 50% in the coming years, leveraging new facilities and galvanizing capabilities. This shift is expected to drive better margins and realizations.
The demand outlook for steel pipes and tubes remains robust, fueled by sustained government-led infrastructure development, rapid urbanization, and investments in renewable energy. The company is actively contributing to national projects, including supplying high-quality ERW Steel Pipes for the Indian Railways' Kavach Anti-Collision System and for the BSF's Modular Multi-Layered High-Strength Border Fencing. These initiatives underscore the company's commitment to the 'Make in India' program and national security.
On the global trade front, recent developments such as the US-India and EU-India trade pacts are anticipated to open new opportunities, enhancing market access and export competitiveness. Hi-Tech Pipes has already expanded its exports to 28 countries and aims to achieve 10% of its total volume from exports, with significant growth expected from Q4 FY26 onwards.
