Rushil Decor Navigates Headwinds with Strategic Growth in Q3 FY26
Ask Iris
Rushil Decor Limited, a prominent player in India's wood panel sector, recently unveiled its performance for the third quarter and nine-month period of fiscal year 2026. The company reported a consolidated revenue from operations of ₹216.54 crore for Q3 FY26, marking a modest 2.3% year-on-year growth. However, profitability metrics faced significant pressure, with EBITDA declining by 15.4% to ₹23.1 crore and Profit After Tax (PAT) witnessing a sharper 54.7% drop to ₹5.19 crore. For the nine-month period, the consolidated revenue stood at ₹631.35 crore, a 5.4% decrease year-on-year, culminating in a negative PAT of ₹3.74 crore.
The management attributed the subdued profitability to a seasonally softer demand environment during the festive period and persistent pressure from elevated resin prices, which remained above historical levels. Despite these challenges, the company maintained its focus on pricing discipline and strengthening its product mix. The Laminates business emerged as a key growth driver, with revenue surging by 20.4% year-on-year to ₹58.5 crore in Q3 FY26. This growth was primarily propelled by robust domestic demand, which expanded by an impressive 55.6% year-on-year, alongside a 6.8% increase in export revenue and a notable 24.0% rise in export realizations. The success in exports was driven by higher-value offerings and the increasing acceptance of jumbo-size laminates across international markets. The Laminates division maintained a high capacity utilization of over 93%, reflecting sustained demand and stable operations.
Strategic Initiatives Drive Future Growth
The company's strategic initiatives are clearly geared towards long-term growth and market leadership. The Jumbo Laminates portfolio, a new product line, continues to gain significant traction in global markets. Rushil Decor is actively exporting these jumbo laminates to countries including Russia, Portugal, Slovakia, Israel, and Romania, and is observing repeat orders. Furthermore, the company is exploring new geographies such as Uzbekistan, Kosovo, Poland, Cameroon, and Denmark to expand its export footprint. The introduction of three distinct Jumbo Laminates brands—VIR KLADS for exterior-grade facade applications, VIR TOPAZ for interior kitchen tops, and VIR VAULT for interior partitions—has helped differentiate the portfolio and improve blended realizations.
In the MDF segment, the company reported a total revenue of ₹148.6 crore in Q3 FY26. Domestic MDF revenues grew by 29.4% year-on-year, supported by strong volume growth in India. While export volumes for MDF declined during the quarter, this was in line with the company's calibrated approach towards international MDF markets. A key focus remains on increasing the share of value-added MDF products. For the nine-month period, value-added MDF accounted for 43% of MDF volumes and 54% of MDF value, demonstrating significant progress towards the FY2026 target of 50% value-added MDF by volume.
Financial Prudence and Sustainable Practices
Rushil Decor has also demonstrated strong financial prudence. The company's Net Debt-to-Equity ratio has significantly improved from 1.10x in FY23 to 0.41x in 9M FY26, reflecting a disciplined approach to capital allocation and deleveraging. This robust capital structure positions the company well for future growth initiatives. The company also announced preferential funding approval of ₹122.66 crore through convertible warrants in October 2023, with ₹93.04 crore already received, of which ₹80.00 crore has been utilized for the Jumbo Laminates Project.
Beyond financial performance, Rushil Decor is committed to sustainable sourcing and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The company has entered into a strategic joint venture with Rushil Modala Ply Limited for eco-friendly plywood manufacturing in Chikmagalur, Karnataka. This partnership aligns with its commitment to sustainability by utilizing wood sourced through sustainable agroforestry practices, preventing deforestation, and ensuring a stable supply chain. The company has planted over 140 million trees to date for sustainable wood supply, underscoring its dedication to environmental stewardship.
Outlook: Resilient Growth Ahead
Looking ahead, Rushil Decor is well-positioned to navigate current market challenges and sustain its growth trajectory. The company's focus remains on scaling the Laminates business, particularly the jumbo segment, expanding its export footprint, and strengthening design-led offerings. In the MDF segment, the emphasis will continue to be on increasing the share of value-added products, optimizing capacity utilization, and improving realizations. With a strong product portfolio, strategic expansions, and a commitment to financial discipline and sustainability, Rushil Decor aims for resilient growth in the dynamic wood panel sector.
