Bank of Baroda Navigates Q3 FY26 with Robust Growth and Strategic Digital Push

Bank of Baroda, a prominent Indian state-owned banking and financial services organization, has reported a resilient performance for the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2026 (Q3 FY26), ending December 31, 2025. The bank showcased robust growth across key business parameters, underpinned by strong asset quality and a strategic focus on digital transformation and sustainable finance. Despite some sequential pressure on Net Interest Margin (NIM), the bank's overall profitability and operational efficiency remained stable, reinforcing its position as a consistent performer in the Indian banking sector.
For Q3 FY26, the bank's net profit rose to INR 5,055 crore, marking a 4.5% year-on-year (YoY) increase. For the nine months ending December 31, 2025, net profit stood at INR 14,405 crore. Operating profit for the quarter was INR 7,377 crore, contributing to a nine-month operating profit of INR 23,190 crore. Total revenue for the quarter reached INR 35,349.91 crore, with significant contributions from Wholesale Banking (35.00%) and Retail Banking (41.88%). The bank's Return on Assets (ROA) consistently remained above 1% for 14 consecutive quarters, settling at 1.09% for Q3 FY26, while Return on Equity (ROE) stood at 15.59% for the quarter.
Segmental Performance and Growth Drivers
The bank's global advances registered a strong YoY growth of 14.7%, reaching INR 13,44,904 crore. Domestic advances grew by 13.6% to INR 10,96,557 crore, while international advances saw an even higher growth of 19.3%. A key highlight was the continued focus on RAM (Retail, Agriculture, and MSME) advances, which grew by 17.3%. Organic retail advances expanded by 17.4%, driven by robust growth in segments such as Mortgage Loans (21.0%), Auto Loans (17.4%), Home Loans (16.0%), Education Loans (12.8%), and Personal Loans (12.0%). Agriculture loans grew by 19.0%, and organic MSME loans by 16.4%. Corporate advances also contributed positively with an 8.1% YoY growth.
On the liabilities front, total deposits grew by 10.3% to INR 15,46,749 crore. Domestic deposits increased by 11.1% to INR 13,07,189 crore, while international deposits grew by 5.7%. Domestic CASA (Current Account Savings Account) deposits registered an 8.6% growth, reaching INR 5,02,560 crore, with the CASA ratio standing at 38.45%. The bank's prudent liabilities management led to a sequential decline in the cost of deposits, which stood at 4.75% for the quarter, a reduction of 33 basis points YoY.
Asset Quality and Capital Adequacy
Bank of Baroda continued to demonstrate strong asset quality. The Gross NPA (Non-Performing Asset) ratio improved significantly by 39 basis points YoY, reducing to 2.04% in Q3 FY26 from 2.43% in Q3 FY25. The Net NPA ratio also saw an improvement, decreasing by 2 basis points YoY to 0.57%. The Provision Coverage Ratio (PCR), including Technical Write-Offs (TWO), remained healthy at 92.73%, reflecting robust provisioning. The slippage ratio for Q3 FY26 declined by 4 basis points YoY and 5 basis points QoQ to 0.86%, with credit cost remaining low at 0.17% for the quarter and 0.34% for the nine months.
The bank's capital position remained strong, with a Capital to Risk-Weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) of 15.29% as of December 2025. Tier-I capital stood at 13.10% (CET-1 at 12.45% and AT1 at 0.65%), and Tier-II capital was 2.19%. The Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) consolidated stood at approximately 116%, indicating ample liquidity. Adjusted for 9MFY26 profits, CET-1 would have been 13.63% and CRAR 16.47%, further solidifying its capital base for future growth.
Strategic Initiatives and Future Outlook
Bank of Baroda is actively pursuing several strategic initiatives to drive sustainable growth and enhance its operational footprint. The bank has made significant strides in digital banking, increasing its digital touch points to 19,185 and digital transactions to INR 1148.36 crore YTD FY26. New digital offerings include EV Recharge, simplified tax payments via bob World, programmable CBDC, and inter-operable cardless cash deposits at ATMs. These initiatives aim to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, the bank mobilized INR 1,707 crore in Green Deposits by December 31, 2025, deploying these funds into renewable energy and clean transportation sectors. It also launched new green products like 'bob Green Wheels' for EV financing and 'bob Green Krishi' for organic cultivation. Furthermore, the bank updated its 'Code of Ethics Version 2.0/2025' and conducted capacity-building workshops on 'Low Carbon Building Transition', emphasizing ethical governance and environmental responsibility.
Bank of Baroda's Q3 FY26 performance reflects a balanced approach to growth, asset quality, and strategic innovation. The management's guidance for credit growth of 11-13% with an upward bias, deposit growth of 9-11%, and a full-year NIM of 2.85-3.00% indicates confidence in its trajectory.
