Q2 results show higher consolidated profit
Borosil Scientific Limited approved its unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results for the quarter and half-year ended September 30, 2026, at a board meeting held on October 28, 2026. The company reported higher consolidated revenue and net profit for Q2 FY27 compared with the corresponding quarter of FY26. Consolidated revenue rose 7.5% year-on-year to ₹114.96 crore, from ₹106.90 crore. Consolidated net profit increased 86.3% to ₹5.31 crore, compared with ₹2.85 crore a year earlier. The result indicates that profit growth outpaced the increase in consolidated revenue during the quarter. The disclosures also included segment-level performance and a new capital expenditure decision.
Standalone figures present a different quarterly view
The reported standalone Q2 FY27 snapshot showed revenue of ₹106.81 crore, up 4.0% sequentially and 4.9% from Q2 FY26. Expenditure was ₹97.88 crore, increasing 4.8% from the preceding quarter and 6.7% year-on-year. Standalone net profit was ₹6.25 crore, down 8.7% sequentially and 16.9% from the year-ago quarter. These figures should be read separately from consolidated results, which include the relevant group-level financial position. The difference between the two sets of figures reflects the distinction between the company’s own operations and the consolidated entity.
H1 income and profit before tax increased
For H1 FY27, Borosil Scientific reported standalone total income of ₹209.51 crore, compared with ₹193.92 crore in H1 FY26. Profit before tax rose to ₹18.24 crore from ₹10.80 crore in the previous-year period. The increase in total income was accompanied by a stronger profit-before-tax figure for the half year. However, the reported information also stated that consolidated operating cash flow turned negative during H1 FY27. No absolute operating cash flow amount was provided in the available disclosures.
Borrowings and investments supported funding needs
The reported H1 cash-flow position showed that investment spending and current borrowings supported funding requirements. This is relevant because the company has simultaneously approved a sizeable manufacturing investment. Negative operating cash flow does not by itself provide a complete view of liquidity without the underlying cash-flow amount, working-capital details, and balance-sheet data. The available information does not provide those figures. Investors can therefore distinguish between the reported profit measures and the separately disclosed operating cash-flow outcome.
Scientific glassware remained the largest business
The laboratory glass equipment and process systems business remained Borosil Scientific’s largest reported segment in Q2 FY27. Segment revenue increased about 8.3% year-on-year to ₹79.05 crore from ₹72.99 crore. Segment profit before tax and other adjustments was ₹13.27 crore, compared with ₹13.01 crore in Q2 FY26. The segment was the main contributor to the company’s reported quarterly revenue base. Its revenue growth was higher than the consolidated revenue growth rate reported for the quarter.
Pharma packaging revenue rose while losses narrowed
Primary pharma packaging revenue increased 21.4% year-on-year to ₹20.96 crore from ₹17.26 crore in Q2 FY26. The segment continued to report a loss before tax and non-controlling interests of ₹2.60 crore. That loss narrowed from ₹5.13 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. The figures show revenue growth alongside an improvement in the segment’s reported loss. The company did not provide forward guidance for the segment in the information available.
Consumer glassware and subsidiary performance
Consumer glassware revenue declined about 10.2% to ₹14.96 crore in Q2 FY27 from ₹16.65 crore in Q2 FY26. Segment profit fell to ₹0.78 crore from ₹1.06 crore. Goel Scientific Glass Works Limited, a subsidiary, reported quarterly revenue of ₹11.28 crore and a net loss of ₹0.85 crore. These results contrast with the stronger revenue growth reported in scientific glassware and primary pharma packaging. The mix of segment outcomes is important in assessing the consolidated result.
Board approves ₹70 crore Bharuch furnace project
Alongside the results, the board approved capital expenditure of up to ₹70 crore for a borosilicate 3.3 glass tubing furnace at Bharuch, Gujarat. The proposed furnace will have installed capacity of about 20 metric tonnes a day. Commercial production is expected to start by March 31, 2028. Borosil Scientific currently sources glass tubing from overseas suppliers for use in its glassware products. The proposed project is intended to reduce this dependence and improve control over supply, quality and availability. The company has also indicated that the facility could help optimise manufacturing costs.
Key reported figures
Why the result matters for investors
The Q2 update combines improved consolidated profit with differing performance across operating segments and financial reporting bases. The planned furnace is a long-term manufacturing investment, with commercial production targeted by March 2028 rather than the current financial year. At the same time, the disclosure of negative consolidated operating cash flow in H1 FY27 puts attention on cash generation and funding during the investment period. The next relevant milestones are progress on the Bharuch project and subsequent financial disclosures that provide further detail on operations, cash flow and borrowing.
