Coforge Q1 FY27: Encora-led scale, higher margins, and an AI-led pitch for the next cycle
Coforge’s Q1 FY27 investor update reads like a quarter of transition and acceleration at the same time. The company reported consolidated revenue of 100.7 million during those two months.
Profitability improved sharply versus the prior year. Reported EBIT margin came in at 16.0 percent, up 414 basis points year on year, and management indicated an organic EBIT margin of 16.7 percent. EBIT was 52.9 million with an FCF to PAT conversion of 95.3 percent, a material change from negative conversion in Q1 FY26.
Growth profile: mix, geographies, and what was truly organic
Coforge’s revenue mix continues to be dominated by its core verticals. In Q1 FY27, Banking and Financial Services contributed 24.7 percent of revenue, Insurance 13.6 percent, Travel Transportation and Hospitality 21.3 percent, and Healthcare and HiTech 17.3 percent. Government outside India was 6.0 percent and Others 17.1 percent.
On a geographic basis, the Americas remained the largest contributor at 61.8 percent, followed by EMEA at 27.0 percent and Rest of World at 11.2 percent.
The company also provided clarity on organic performance. Reported organic constant currency growth was 1.1 percent quarter on quarter. Excluding exited businesses, organic constant currency growth was 5.2 percent quarter on quarter. The presentation attributed this to a planned discontinuation of a 4 million revenue impact from the divestment of a data-center asset.
Service offering mix in the presentation shows AI-led Engineering at 50.4 percent of revenue, Data and Integration at 20.9 percent, Cloud at 7.0 percent, Intelligent Automation at 14.8 percent, and Business Process Management at 7.0 percent.
Financial summary
Note: PAT for Q1 FY27 is stated in the presentation as $55.6 million. Detailed INR P and L in the presentation reports PAT controlling business of INR 5,186 million.
Order book and client concentration: better visibility, but key clarifications matter
The quarter’s commercial momentum was captured in two numbers: fresh order intake of 2,228 million, up 44.2 percent year on year.
A key detail from the earnings call is that management stated the $691 million order intake does not include Encora’s order intake and represents only the organic piece from what used to be standalone Coforge. Management also clarified that a UK framework agreement discussed earlier remains outside the order intake and would sit on top later.
Client concentration metrics were also shared. The top five clients contributed 18.0 percent of Q1 revenue and the top ten contributed 26.1 percent. The company stated repeat business ratio was steady at 95.7 percent.
Encora integration: rapid operational actions, but balance sheet gets heavier
Management emphasized that Encora has been integrated using Coforge’s established playbook. The CEO stated that Coforge immediately and fully integrates acquired organizations, with Coforge leaders taking operational control.
The CFO provided specifics on integration milestones, including migration of all 45 legal entities onto SAP S/4HANA effective May 1, alignment of revenue recognition policies, planning systems, and performance management processes. Management stated integration is ahead of plan and indicated confidence to not only deliver but surpass the FY27 consolidated EBIT margin guidance of 15.5 percent or higher.
The accounting footprint is significant. The purchase price allocation disclosed a total purchase consideration of 200 million, resulting in goodwill of 480 million of customer relationship intangibles, amortised over 12 years, with an estimated annual charge of about $40 million in the depreciation and amortization line.
On financing, the company drew a $550 million term loan for the acquisition. The CFO stated it carries a fixed interest rate of 4.6 percent per annum for three years and disclosed the repayment schedule, with payments extending to a final tranche in Q1 FY30.
AI narrative: Nuuron, ModSquads, and outcome-based pricing still early
The strategic part of the presentation is centered on AI-led engineering and what Coforge calls enterprise autonomy. Management positioned Nuuron as an AI operationalization platform intended to help enterprises move from AI pilots to AI operations, orchestrating data, enterprise context, decision intelligence and autonomous actions with governance and control.
The presentation also describes a delivery and commercialization structure through Forward Deployed Engineers and ModSquads, and outlines archetypes across revenue acceleration and efficiency optimization. ModSquad adoption metrics shared in the deck include 40 plus accounts in rollout, 50 plus programs with transition plans, and 150 plus agents live or in build, along with measured productivity improvements by SDLC stage.
In the earnings call, management stated that outcome-based business is still small, around 6 to 7 percent of revenue, and described multiple pricing models including subscription-style constructs for ModSquads and risk-based modernization models where upside is linked to program outcomes.
What investors should track from here
Coforge reiterated its FY27 outlook. Management guided to consolidated EBITDA margin of 20.5 to 21 percent, standalone EBIT margin of 16.5 to 17 percent, consolidated EBIT margin of 15.5 percent or higher, and FCF to PAT of 100 percent plus.
Beyond guidance, the next quarters will likely be judged on a few hard metrics. First is whether the company can sustain margin delivery while Encora’s full-quarter contribution flows through and integration actions move from one-time fixes to steady-state operations. Second is how quickly Encora’s client portfolio begins to reflect Coforge’s stated intensity on cross-sell and scale-up. Third is the trajectory of cash generation as working capital normalizes, especially since Q1 showed a working capital outflow in the cash flow statement despite strong FCF conversion.
The company’s narrative is ambitious and heavily weighted toward AI operationalization. The reported quarter provides enough operational datapoints on order book, margins, cash flow conversion, and integration actions to make the story measurable. The next few quarters will determine how much of that AI-led positioning translates into sustained growth and durable profitability.
