Share performance puts execution in focus
Sudeep Pharma shares have gained 75% from the IPO price, according to the supplied market commentary. The move has shifted investor attention towards the company’s capacity additions, regulatory approvals and production ramp-up plans. Sudeep Pharma makes high-purity mineral ingredients used across pharmaceutical, food and nutrition applications. Its products include excipients, which are inactive ingredients that support the delivery of active drugs. The company also supplies ingredients used in infant nutrition, supplements and specialty food applications. Its operating model is built around mineral chemistry, product quality and certifications required by regulated customers. The next set of milestones centres on a new greenfield facility and the development of battery-grade precursor materials.
A mineral ingredients business built over decades
Sudeep Pharma was founded in 1989 with a single Vadodara unit producing two calcium-based excipients. Over 35 years, it developed a portfolio of mineral-based ingredients and proprietary technologies for pharmaceutical, food and nutrition customers. The company serves customers in close to 100 countries, according to the provided information. It has 40-plus blue-chip multinational clients across its business segments. As of September 30, 2025, it operated four manufacturing facilities with 12 production lines in Vadodara, Gujarat. Annual installed capacity at that point stood at 72,246 metric tonnes. The company also had warehouses across the US, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Certifications remain central to the business model
Regulatory credentials are a significant feature of Sudeep Pharma’s business. The company is described as the first and only Indian company with USFDA approval for mineral-based ingredients. One manufacturing facility has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for manufacturing mineral-based ingredients. Its Nandesari Facility I had USFDA approval for mineral-based food ingredients as of June 30, 2025. Sudeep Pharma is also one of nine companies globally with European CEP certification for calcium carbonate. The company reported 35 global accreditations and certifications as of September 2025, while another disclosure cited 36 critical facility and product certifications across the US, Europe and China. These approvals are relevant because pharmaceutical, infant-nutrition and specialty-food customers require stringent quality and safety controls.
Greenfield plant adds 51,200 MT of capacity
The principal expansion is a greenfield manufacturing facility in Gujarat with annual capacity of 51,200 MT. Company material identifies the location as Nandesari GIDC and states that commissioning was expected by the fourth quarter of FY26. Other supplied call summaries refer to a 51,000 TPA facility as Navsari. The source material therefore uses different location descriptions, but consistently refers to a facility of about 51,000 MT annual capacity. Management said the project was progressing as planned and that capex was largely complete. The new site is intended to relieve a capacity bottleneck in the existing pharma, food, nutrition and specialty ingredients operations. Management has said it can support revenue of ₹1,000 crore to ₹1,200 crore from these existing businesses without major additional capex.
Approval and supply timelines have been highlighted
At the April-June 2026 results call held on August 5, 2026, management discussed the regulatory and commercial schedule for the new facility. Management guidance indicated USFDA approval in April-June 2026, followed by supplies in October-December 2026. Other call material described the approval expectation as Q2 FY27 and commercial supplies from Q3 FY27. A later supplied update stated that greenfield facility FDA approval had been received and that the October-December 2026 supply guidance was confirmed. Five food and nutrition customers, including three Indian customers and two global multinationals, were reported to be in the site-approval process. Management expected roughly one-third utilisation of the facility in FY28, with a progressive ramp thereafter.
Higher-value ingredients are part of the expansion plan
The greenfield project adds capacity for glycinate and gluconate ingredients sold under the AbsorBis brand. These products target the global bisglycinate market, which the supplied material estimates at about $1 billion. Competition in this segment is described as being driven by chemistry performance rather than price. Management has guided for an EBITDA margin of 37% to 38%. It also expects the pharma, food and nutrition segment to grow faster in FY27 as customer approvals are completed and recent price increases flow into revenue. The timing and scale of actual production will depend on site approvals and the pace at which customers qualify the new facility.
Dahej project opens a battery-materials vertical
Sudeep Advanced Materials, a wholly owned subsidiary, is building a commercial facility at Dahej, Gujarat, for battery-grade precursor materials, primarily iron phosphate. The phase-one project has planned capacity of 25,000 tonnes. The company acquired 20 acres of land for the facility, while the site is located on about 81,000 square metres in a Gujarat industrial estate near two major ports. Phase-one capital expenditure, including land and development, is about ₹220 crore. Infrastructure is being built to support a potential second phase that would double capacity to 50,000 tonnes. Commissioning of the first phase is targeted for early 2027, and an existing pharma-grade line has been upgraded to produce 5,000 tonnes of battery-grade material for early commercial orders.
What shareholders will watch next
The immediate operating markers are commercial supplies from the greenfield facility and customer site approvals. Investors will also track the ramp in capacity utilisation from the present level of about 50%. The planned FY28 utilisation of about one-third at the new facility indicates that the expansion is expected to scale progressively rather than reach full output immediately. For the Dahej project, the key confirmed future event is the targeted early-2027 commissioning of the 25,000-tonne first phase. Sudeep Pharma’s ability to turn new capacity into sales will be influenced by regulatory clearance, customer qualification and production ramp-up. The company’s established certifications and mineral-ingredient portfolio provide the context for these next execution milestones.
