SUPERFORM projects target over ₹3,300 crore peak revenue
UPL Limited’s SUPERFORM manufacturing platform has five disclosed projects with combined peak-revenue targets of more than ₹3,300 crore. The ₹1,200 crore-or-more bio-ethanol project at Jhagadia is the largest and is targeted for Q4FY27, while phosphorus, cyanide, phosgene and lubricant-additive projects make up the remaining disclosed potential.

How much peak revenue do SUPERFORM projects target?
SUPERFORM’s five revenue-generating projects target aggregate peak revenue of more than ₹3,300 crore. Management’s disclosed minimum combines ₹300 crore or more from lubricant additives, ₹500 crore or more from phosgene, ₹700 crore or more from phosphorus, ₹600 crore or more from cyanide and ₹1,200 crore or more from bio-ethanol.
The total excludes the renewable-power project at Patan because SUPERFORM presents it as a cost-saving initiative rather than a revenue project. The project was part-commissioned, with specified systems commissioned and power charged; it has a Q3FY27 target date and management identifies cost savings of more than ₹60 crore.
Which projects make up SUPERFORM’s expansion pipeline?
SUPERFORM’s biggest disclosed project is the bio-ethanol plant at Jhagadia, carrying peak revenue potential of more than ₹1,200 crore and a Q4FY27 target date. Management describes the plant as one of India’s largest single-site or single-location bio-ethanol capacities; engineering was 95% complete, core-area civil works were largely complete and structural erection was under way.
The Odisha phosphorus value-chain facility is targeted for Q3FY28 and has peak revenue potential of more than ₹700 crore. Management describes it as India’s only end-to-end integrated phosphorus value-chain facility, with environmental clearance received and civil works and furnace-foundation excavation under way.
At Dahej, SUPERFORM is building a cyanide derivative value-chain expansion intended to raise capacity to three times its current level. The project has a Q3FY28 target and peak revenue potential of more than ₹600 crore; ammonia tank-farm civil work was 90% complete, while foundations for sulphuric-acid and sodium-hydroxide tanks were complete.
The Dahej phosgene value chain has a Q3FY27 target and peak revenue potential of more than ₹500 crore. Mechanical retesting and MCB construction were under way, while phosgene charging and DCA addition were planned by November; management describes the site as India’s only facility for manufacturing biocide intermediates.
When are SUPERFORM’s new projects expected to be completed?
SUPERFORM’s nearer-term milestones fall in FY27, or financial year 2027. The lubricant-additives Phase 2 expansion at Jhagadia was commissioned in Q1FY27 and was operating at designed capacity, while the phosgene project at Dahej and the Patan solar project are targeted for Q3FY27.
The Jhagadia bio-ethanol project is scheduled for Q4FY27, after the Q3FY27 milestones for phosgene and renewable power. Its engineering status of 95% completion differs from the phosphorus and cyanide projects, both of which remained under construction and have Q3FY28 targets.
The different timelines reflect the status disclosed for each project rather than a common commissioning date. The lubricant-additives expansion had entered operation, the bio-ethanol facility was in late-stage engineering and construction, and the ₹700 crore-or-more phosphorus and ₹600 crore-or-more cyanide projects were still progressing through construction activities.
What does SUPERFORM’s recent performance show?
SUPERFORM reported revenue of ₹6,498 crore in H1FY27, or the first half of FY27, up 21% from ₹5,357 crore in H1FY26. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 13% to ₹809 crore, while EBITDA margin declined by 90 basis points to 12.4% from 13.3%.
In Q2FY27, revenue rose 28% to ₹3,579 crore and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) increased 39% to ₹323 crore. Management attributed Q2 revenue growth to a 2% volume increase and 26% pricing increase, with foreign exchange flat; EBIT margin rose by 70 basis points to 9.0%.
The portfolio labelled SSC in the presentation grew faster than the portfolio labelled AI during H1FY27. SSC revenue rose 39% to ₹1,896 crore and its EBIT increased 62% to ₹231 crore, with EBIT margin up 170 basis points to 12.2%; AI revenue increased 15% to ₹4,602 crore and EBIT rose 13% to ₹314 crore, while its EBIT margin declined by 10 basis points to 6.8%.
How does SUPERFORM plan to broaden its manufacturing base?
SUPERFORM’s stated strategy combines backward integration with downstream specialty applications. Management identifies phosphorus, cyanide, phosgene and sulphur as key chemistries, supported by more than 50 years of complex-chemistry experience and applications across agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, battery chemicals, water treatment, coatings and personal care.
The capacity plan includes tripling cyanation capacity, expanding core chemistries and entering downstream applications. The presentation lists phosphorus-based flame retardants, battery chemicals, nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical intermediates, biocides and chelants, as well as contract manufacturing in lubricant additives and agrochemicals.
Management also cites new contracts in rubber additives, paint and coating intermediates, and flame retardants. It links the platform’s integration to inputs including rock phosphate, natural gas, ammonia and sulphur, and says these arrangements reduce exposure to commodity-price movements; the presentation identifies China-plus-one diversification and chemical import substitution as tailwinds rather than confirmed project outcomes.
Conclusion
SUPERFORM’s disclosed manufacturing pipeline outlines more than ₹3,300 crore of peak-revenue potential across five projects, led by bio-ethanol at Jhagadia and the phosphorus value chain in Odisha. Its H1FY27 revenue increased 21% to ₹6,498 crore, but management’s Q2 breakdown shows that pricing, at 26%, accounted for more of the reported growth than volume, at 2%.
The next disclosed milestones are the Q3FY27 targets for the Patan renewable-power project and Dahej phosgene value chain, followed by Jhagadia bio-ethanol in Q4FY27. Construction progress at Odisha and Dahej, where the phosphorus and cyanide projects are both targeted for Q3FY28, will indicate the timing of the remaining stated peak-revenue potential.
