Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited is a government‑owned Indian shipbuilder that primarily constructs warships and support vessels for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard while also delivering commercial vessels, exports, marine engines, portable steel bridges, deck machinery and ship repair from multiple Kolkata facilities and a Diesel Engine Plant.

Q3 FY26 execution was robust: revenue from operations rose 49% year‑on‑year to ₹1,896 crore while PAT increased 74% to ₹171 crore, and nine‑month revenues of ₹4,883 crore are nearly equivalent to FY25 full‑year revenue, signalling markedly improved throughput and margin conversion driven by frequent deliveries and higher physical progress.

Order‑book dynamics are a key positive: GRSE reported a ₹18,482 crore order book comprising 42 platforms and has been declared L1 for the Next Generation Corvette (≈₹33,000 crore) with contract negotiations nearing completion, creating the prospect of a step‑change in backlog and multi‑year revenue visibility if signed this financial year.

GRSE is actively expanding capacity and footprint: concurrent construction capability has been raised from 24 to 28 platforms and management targets 32–36 by year‑end via brownfield modernization, while greenfield/brownfield projects in Gujarat and further brownfield sites in Kolkata are planned to add large‑ship capability over three to five years.

Government policy tailwinds strengthen GRSE’s outlook: Indian shipbuilding incentive packages totalling around ₹69,725 crore, including production subsidies, shipbreaking credit notes and maritime development funds, plus DAP 2026 emphasis on indigenization, give GRSE substantial policy support to accelerate both defense and commercial order conversion and domestic supplier development.
