Which potential sole first-to-file ANDAs has Granules filed?
Granules has filed three potential sole first-to-file, or FTF, ANDAs: Amphetamine Extended-Release Tablet, Sodium Oxybate Extended-Release Oral Suspension and Ruxolitinib Extended-Release Tablet. The Q2FY27 presentation describes all three as potential sole FTF products and does not state that they have received approval or exclusivity.
The three named products are extended-release tablets or an extended-release oral suspension, placing them within Granules’ stated move toward more complex finished-dosage products. Granules also disclosed five additional sole-FTF opportunities in its US pipeline. Within the 53 dossiers awaiting approval, management identified 14 Paragraph IV, or Para IV, filings and one sole-FTF filing.
How is Granules changing its finished-dosage portfolio?
Granules is increasing the role of Complex Gx in its finished-dosage dossier base, with 67 Complex Gx dossiers filed globally versus 73 Integrated Gx dossiers and 19 classified as others. Complex Gx represented 67 of the 159 total filed dossiers, while Integrated Gx remained the largest single category at 73 dossiers.
The pending queue has a different composition from the full filing base. Complex Gx accounted for 30 of the 53 dossiers awaiting approval, compared with 22 Integrated Gx dossiers and one other dossier. Granules reported 103 approved dossiers and three tentative approvals, including two sole-FTF products; the 106 approvals, including tentative approvals, plus 53 awaiting approval equal the 159 filed dossiers.
Granules said its portfolio quality is progressing toward patient-centric products with higher complexity. The company’s filing data shows that Complex Gx has a larger share of the pending queue than of the overall portfolio: 30 of 53 pending dossiers, compared with 67 of 159 filed dossiers. The presentation does not provide product-level approval probabilities, expected launch dates or revenue estimates for these applications.
How quickly is Granules filing Complex Gx dossiers?
Granules filed 11 dossiers in H1FY27, comprising eight Complex Gx dossiers and three Integrated Gx dossiers. Complex Gx therefore exceeded Integrated Gx filings by five dossiers in the reported half year, compared with a one-dossier difference in FY26, when Granules filed 13 Complex Gx and 12 Integrated Gx dossiers.
Annual total filings increased from 10 dossiers in FY24 to 19 in FY25 and 25 in FY26. Over the same two-year period, Complex Gx filings rose from four to 13, while Integrated Gx filings rose from six to 12. H1FY27 is a partial-year period and is not directly comparable with those full financial years, but its filing mix was weighted toward Complex Gx.
Granules’ research and development, or R&D, spending was Rs 88.5 crore in Q2FY27, equal to 5.7% of sales. That followed Rs 88 crore, or 6.0% of sales, in Q1FY27. The company said R&D remains a strategic priority for maintaining filings across markets, while the H1FY27 data recorded 11 global dossier filings and 11 active pharmaceutical ingredient, or API, filings.

Where are Granules’ approvals and pending dossiers located?
Granules reported 68 approved dossiers in the US, 20 in Europe, eight in Canada, five in rest of world, or ROW, and two in the UK. It also reported three tentative approvals in the US, taking its global count to 103 approved dossiers and three tentative approvals as of Q2FY27.
The filed category in Granules’ market-status table totals 53 dossiers: 25 in ROW, 23 in the US, three in Europe, and one each in Canada and the UK. The US had the largest approved and tentative portfolio at 71 dossiers, including the three tentative approvals, while ROW had the largest filed count at 25 dossiers.
Granules separately disclosed 26 ANDAs under approval in the US with a total addressable market of about US$35 billion. The company attributed that market estimate to IQVIA’s August 2026 moving annual total data covering branded and generic products. Granules did not disclose the individual products, expected approval timing or expected sales associated with the 26 ANDAs.
What R&D and regulatory infrastructure supports Granules’ pipeline?
Granules reported six R&D centres and 437 R&D scientists in Q2FY27, alongside 114 global Drug Master File, or DMF, filings. The DMF portfolio included 49 filings in the US, 21 European Certificates of Suitability, 11 European Active Substance Master Files, 12 in Korea, seven in China, six each in Canada and Brazil, and two in Japan.
The company identified GPI R&D in the US as a centre for central nervous system finished dosage and complex finished-dosage technology. Its other listed R&D locations include Genome Valley for integrated product development, Pragathi Nagar for central nervous system APIs and key starting materials, Pune for new technologies and backward integration, a peptide laboratory at IIT Hyderabad, and Senn Chemicals AG in Switzerland for peptide contract development and manufacturing organisation R&D.
Granules recorded six regulatory audits and 45 customer audits in H1 FY27, compared with 13 regulatory audits and 108 customer audits in FY26. Its Gagillapur facility was inspected by the US Food and Drug Administration in October 2026, with the establishment inspection report, or EIR, awaited. Seven other facilities listed in the presentation had EIR status following inspections through April 2026.
Conclusion
Granules’ Q2FY27 disclosure shows a 159-dossier global portfolio in which Complex Gx accounts for 67 filings and 30 of the 53 dossiers awaiting approval. The three potential sole-FTF ANDAs, together with eight Complex Gx filings out of 11 in H1FY27, indicate that the company is directing recent filings toward complex and early-launch generic opportunities alongside Integrated Gx products.
The next points to watch are decisions on the 53 pending dossiers, including 14 Para IV filings and one sole-FTF filing, and progress on the five additional sole-FTF opportunities in Granules’ US pipeline. The outstanding EIR for Gagillapur after the October 2026 US Food and Drug Administration inspection is also a disclosed unresolved regulatory matter.
