Why did Ion Exchange change its segment reporting?
Ion Exchange changed its segment reporting to support its stated repositioning as a technology-led water and environment solutions provider rather than a conventional engineering, procurement and construction, or EPC, company. Effective from 1 April 2026, it said the strategic objective was to focus on growth in Products, Chemicals, Services and Solutions.
Ion Exchange replaced the former Engineering segment with Treatment Solutions, Industrial Products and Lifecycle Services. It also renamed the former Chemicals segment as Specialty Chemicals, retained Consumer Products as a reportable business, and regrouped prior periods so that the half year ended 30 September 2025 and year ended 31 March 2026 are comparable with the new structure.

Specialty Chemicals comprises water-treatment and process chemicals and industrial, process and pharmaceutical resins, while Consumer Products includes home water solutions, community water-treatment solutions and wellness.
