Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA) is a leading integrated producer of ferrochrome in India, focusing primarily on exports to East Asian markets. It operates major manufacturing units in Odisha with extensive chrome ore mining tracts.

In a strategic expansion, IMFA acquired Tata Steel's ferrochrome plant, significantly boosting its capacity, establishing it as India’s largest and the sixth globally in ferrochrome production. This acquisition is expected to create synergies and operational efficiencies.

IMFA is on track to increase ore production to 8.5 lakh tons in FY ‘26, eventually aiming for 12 lakh tons, supported by its captive mining operations. The company is leveraging its integrated business model from mining to smelting to maintain competitive advantage.

Management forecasts demand strength, particularly from stainless steel production, contributing to revenue and margin improvement. It is also advancing its renewable energy initiatives, signing up for 110 MW of hybrid energy to power growth while reducing carbon footprint.
