Which CL Educate segments drove the half-year result?
CL Educate’s MarTech business generated H1 FY27 revenue of Rs 92.8 crore, up 14% from Rs 81.5 crore in H1 FY26, and EBITDA of Rs 9.3 crore, up 27% from Rs 7.3 crore. Management attributed revenue growth to its international business. MarTech provides corporate services including experiential marketing, events, marketing communications, customised engagement programmes, manpower services and sales management.
EdTech revenue declined to Rs 84.7 crore in H1 FY27 from Rs 97.4 crore in H1 FY26 as learner preferences shifted towards modular and digital-first formats. Yet EBITDA rose 8% to Rs 18.5 crore from Rs 17.1 crore, while margin expanded by about 425 basis points to 21.8% from 17.6%. Management said a leaner cost structure and better realisations supported the margin increase despite lower enrolments.
Digital Assessments, or DEX, reported Q2 FY27 revenue from operations of Rs 76.7 crore, compared with Rs 45.0 crore in Q1 FY27. Management said key-renewal pricing benefits and delivery efficiencies supported the business, while assessment calendars affected quarterly revenue timing. It also said DEX sustained an EBITDA margin of about 29% and continues to invest in artificial intelligence-led assessment platforms.

CL Educate reported H1 FY27 revenue from operations of Rs 297.2 crore, down from Rs 310.0 crore in H1 FY26, but total EBITDA increased 13% to Rs 56.8 crore from Rs 50.2 crore. Operating EBITDA margin increased to 16.5% from 13.3%, an expansion of about 315 basis points. The half-year result showed higher earnings despite lower consolidated revenue.
Net profit for H1 FY27 was Rs 6.6 crore, compared with Rs 1.5 crore a year earlier. Profit before tax before exceptional items rose to Rs 16.6 crore from Rs 5.5 crore, while finance cost fell 32% to Rs 17.8 crore from Rs 26.1 crore. Net unallocated corporate costs also declined 37% to Rs 7.7 crore from Rs 12.3 crore, contributing to the change in profitability.
What are CL Educate’s debt and regulatory matters?
CL Educate said it is refinancing part of the term debt raised to fund DEX through listed non-convertible debentures, or NCDs, aggregating Rs 100 crore. The proceeds are intended to prepay existing term loans. Management said deleveraging remains a priority and expects lower leverage, reduced finance costs and improved segment profitability to support reported earnings.
The company disclosed Goods and Services Tax, or GST, proceedings concerning books supplied as part of commercial coaching services. A demand first intimated in FY24 was Rs 12.81 crore, with an additional penalty equal to that demand in the subsequent order; CL Educate has appealed to the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal. Separately, CL Media Private Limited, merged into CL Educate in March 2022, received a December 26, 2025 order involving tax and penalty of Rs 16.87 crore for FY19 to FY22; CL Educate said it has appealed and made no provision following legal advice.
Conclusion
CL Educate’s Q2 FY27 result marked a return to quarterly net profit, combining revenue of Rs 169.7 crore, total EBITDA of Rs 34.9 crore and an 18.6% operating EBITDA margin. Lower finance costs, reduced corporate costs and improved segment profitability offset slower revenue growth and the Rs 3.24 crore goodwill impairment recorded during the quarter.
The next disclosed developments are progress on the proposed Rs 100 crore listed-NCD refinancing and the stated deleveraging priority, as well as EdTech demand under continuing pressure from digital-first learning formats and freely available courseware. The proposed amalgamation of wholly owned DEXIT Global Limited with CL Educate, approved by the board on October 19, 2026, remains subject to National Company Law Tribunal and other regulatory approvals and is not expected to affect consolidated results.
