Why did Goldkart Jewels report negative operating cash flow?
Goldkart Jewels reported negative operating cash flow because the Rs 19.0322 crore increase in trade receivables exceeded its Rs 6.7152 crore operating profit before working-capital changes in the half year ended 30 September 2026. Cash used in operations was Rs 7.9738 crore after movements in receivables, inventories, current assets, payables and other liabilities, and net taxes paid added Rs 1.2500 crore to the outflow.
Net cash used in operating activities was Rs 9.2238 crore, despite profit after tax of Rs 3.3967 crore for the half year. In the year ended 31 March 2026, Goldkart Jewels recorded a larger Rs 13.9474 crore operating cash outflow, when inventories used Rs 14.5689 crore and receivables used Rs 7.3266 crore. The disclosed working-capital pressure therefore shifted from inventories in the prior full year to receivables in the latest half year.
Goldkart Jewels reported profit before tax of Rs 4.6836 crore in the latest half year, compared with Rs 3.6759 crore in the half year ended 30 September 2025. The difference between the latest period's profit and operating cash flow reflects movements in working-capital accounts under the indirect cash-flow method, including the receivables increase, rather than a reported operating loss.
How much did Goldkart Jewels' receivables increase?
Goldkart Jewels' trade receivables rose to Rs 32.5707 crore at 30 September 2026 from Rs 13.5385 crore at 31 March 2026. The Rs 19.0322 crore increase shown in the cash-flow statement was the largest identified working-capital use during the half year and was greater than the Rs 7.9738 crore cash used in operations after offsets from other items.
Inventories moved in the opposite direction, closing at Rs 40.5981 crore at 30 September 2026 versus Rs 44.6512 crore at 31 March 2026. The cash-flow statement recorded a Rs 4.0530 crore release from inventories, while other current assets generated Rs 34.52 lakh of cash and trade payables generated Rs 47,000.
Jewellery revenue was Rs 66.3359 crore in the half year ended 30 September 2026, up from Rs 46.4566 crore in the corresponding half year a year earlier. Goldkart Jewels identifies trading of gold jewellery as its single business segment, meaning the reported receivables balance and the full Rs 66.3359 crore of segment revenue relate to the same disclosed business.
How did Goldkart Jewels' borrowings change?
Goldkart Jewels received Rs 16.4934 crore in net proceeds from borrowings during the half year, comprising Rs 7.7884 crore from non-current borrowings and Rs 8.7050 crore from current borrowings. After Rs 2.0078 crore of finance costs paid, net cash generated from financing activities was Rs 14.4856 crore.
