Why did Machino Plastics' borrowings rise in the September 2026 half year?
Machino Plastics' reported borrowings rose because both long-term and current borrowings were higher at September 30, 2026 than at March 31, 2026. Non-current borrowings increased by Rs 19.89 crore to Rs 169.08 crore, while current borrowings increased by Rs 11.47 crore to Rs 106.39 crore. Together, these two categories rose from Rs 244.11 crore to Rs 275.47 crore over the six-month period.
The balance-sheet movement occurred alongside an expansion in total assets, which increased by Rs 15.15 crore to Rs 571.15 crore. Total equity increased by Rs 1.63 crore to Rs 138.47 crore, whereas total liabilities increased by Rs 13.52 crore to Rs 432.68 crore. The increase in liabilities was larger than the increase in equity during the half year.
How much did Machino Plastics spend on capital expenditure?
Machino Plastics spent Rs 22.36 crore on additions to property, plant and equipment, intangible assets and net movement in capital work in progress during the half year ended September 30, 2026. This was lower than the Rs 42.99 crore reported for the corresponding half year ended September 30, 2025, a reduction of Rs 20.63 crore.
Property, plant and equipment on the balance sheet nevertheless rose by Rs 13.24 crore over the six months to Rs 372.06 crore. Capital work in progress was Rs 12.13 lakh at September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 11.86 lakh at March 31, 2026. The cash-flow outlay and the period-end asset movement are not directly comparable because the cash-flow line includes additions and net movement, while the asset balance also reflects depreciation and other accounting movements.
Machino Plastics also reported a Rs 1.22 crore decline in right-of-use assets to Rs 5.78 crore, while other intangible assets fell by Rs 44.95 lakh to Rs 1.20 crore. These movements sit alongside the Rs 22.36 crore additions line in investing cash flow, rather than indicating that all investment was directed to one asset category.
Did Machino Plastics' operating cash flow cover its investment spending?
Machino Plastics' net operating cash flow of Rs 10.04 crore did not cover its Rs 22.36 crore investment outlay in the half year ended September 30, 2026. The difference was Rs 12.32 crore, before considering proceeds, interest received, deposit movements and financing cash flows disclosed in the cash-flow statement.
Operating cash flow fell from Rs 10.63 crore in the corresponding half year of 2025 to Rs 10.04 crore. Cash generated from operations was Rs 10.63 crore before a Rs 58.45 lakh income-tax payment, compared with Rs 11.66 crore before a Rs 1.03 crore tax payment in the earlier period. In the 2026 half year, a Rs 11.70 crore reduction in trade payables and a Rs 60.25 lakh increase in trade receivables were among the working-capital movements affecting cash generation.
Investing cash flow included Rs 11.07 lakh of interest received and a Rs 45.59 lakh bank-deposit movement, in addition to the additions to productive assets. Cash and cash equivalents rose to Rs 5.51 crore at September 30, 2026 from Rs 25.40 lakh at the beginning of the financial year, reflecting the combined operating, investing and financing cash flows rather than operating cash flow alone.
