How did MPS Education perform in H1 FY27?
MPS Education reported Rs 142.09 crore of revenue in H1 FY27, up 36.05% from Rs 104.44 crore in H1 FY26, while EBITDA increased 14.45% to Rs 46.64 crore from Rs 40.75 crore. Since EBITDA rose more slowly than revenue, the segment’s EBITDA margin declined by 6.19 percentage points to 32.82% from 39.02%.
MPS Education’s headcount fell 2.33% to 755 in H1 FY27 from 773 in H1 FY26. Management described this reduction as disciplined resource management, while the segment’s higher revenue base was supported by the inclusion of Unbound Medicine.
The second quarter showed a sharper margin effect. MPS Education revenue rose 30.03% to Rs 68.68 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 52.82 crore a year earlier, but EBITDA declined 6.11% to Rs 20.89 crore and margin fell to 30.42% from 42.12%.
What did Unbound Medicine add to MPS Education?
Unbound Medicine contributed Rs 41.64 crore of revenue and Rs 7.48 crore of EBITDA to MPS Education in H1 FY27, producing a 17.96% EBITDA margin. Management describes the business as a source of recurring, high-renewal healthcare revenue, but says its royalty-based content model has a lower margin than the solutions base.
In Q2 FY27, Unbound Medicine generated Rs 21.07 crore of revenue and Rs 3.82 crore of EBITDA, with an 18.13% margin. The quarterly margin was close to the 17.96% H1 FY27 margin, indicating that its lower-margin profile was present across both reported periods.
Unbound Medicine represented Rs 41.64 crore of the Education segment’s Rs 142.09 crore H1 FY27 revenue. The presentation does not disclose the revenue, EBITDA or margin of the Education business excluding Unbound Medicine, so the margin effect on the pre-existing Education operations cannot be separately quantified.
MPS also attributes a substantial increase in its billed client base to Unbound Medicine’s institutional subscribers. Clients billed, excluding business-to-consumer customers, increased to 933 in H1 FY27 from 490 in H1 FY26, while the top five clients’ revenue contribution declined to 46% from 49%.
Why did MPS Education margin decline despite higher revenue?
MPS Education margin declined because Unbound Medicine’s 17.96% H1 FY27 EBITDA margin was below the segment’s 32.82% blended margin, and management says its royalty structure carries lower margins than the solutions base. Revenue increased by Rs 37.65 crore year on year, whereas EBITDA rose by Rs 5.89 crore.
The contrast with Research highlights the different segment trends. MPS Research revenue increased 10.78% to Rs 253.05 crore in H1 FY27 and its EBITDA margin rose to 46.66% from 39.37%, while Education delivered faster revenue growth of 36.05% but a 6.19-percentage-point margin decline.
Corporate Learning moved in the opposite direction from Education. Its H1 FY27 revenue grew 11.55% to Rs 53.39 crore, EBITDA rose 76.62% to Rs 13.37 crore, and margin expanded to 25.04% from 15.82%, alongside a 19.05% reduction in headcount to 136.
At group level, MPS reported H1 FY27 revenue of Rs 448.53 crore, up 17.81%, and EBITDA of Rs 153.99 crore, up 39.03%. Group EBITDA margin expanded to 34.33% from 29.09%, meaning the Education margin decline coincided with higher profitability in the other reported segments.

How has MPS Education changed group revenue mix?
MPS Education accounted for 30.6% of group revenue in Q2 FY27, compared with 27.2% in Q2 FY26. Its share was 32.7% in Q1 FY27, showing that Education became a larger business than a year earlier but that quarterly segment mix varied.
Research remained the largest segment at 57.9% of Q2 FY27 group revenue, while Corporate Learning accounted for 11.5%. In Q2 FY26, the equivalent shares were 61.5% for Research, 27.2% for Education and 11.3% for Corporate Learning.
MPS reported H1 FY27 geographic revenue of 48% from North America, 35% from Europe and 17% from the Rest of the World. This compared with 50%, 31% and 19%, respectively, in H1 FY26, though the presentation does not provide a geography-specific split for Education or Unbound Medicine.
Days sales outstanding, or DSO, were 38 days in H1 FY27 versus 37 days in H1 FY26. As of 30 September 2026, MPS reported Rs 163.23 crore of cash and cash equivalents and zero debt, but these are group balances rather than Education-specific measures.
What is MPS planning for Education in H2 FY27?
MPS plans to convert its Education pipeline as Florida and California adoptions open, while growing Unbound Medicine with hospitals and health systems in H2 FY27. Q2 FY27 bookings were led by work related to Florida’s upcoming math adoption, but the presentation gives no Education revenue or margin target for the second half.
The Education plans sit alongside group priorities to ramp new peer-review and research-integrity mandates, with billing from November and December. MPS said H1 FY27 EBITDA of Rs 153.99 crore put it ahead of a straight-line path toward FY27 guidance of more than Rs 300 crore of EBITDA.
Management also identified Corporate Learning growth on its rebuilt margin base as a second-half priority. Corporate Learning’s H1 FY27 EBITDA margin of 25.04% was 9.22 percentage points above the 15.82% reported in H1 FY26, while Education’s disclosed plan focuses on adoption-cycle conversions and healthcare-system growth.
Conclusion
MPS Education became a larger revenue contributor in H1 FY27, growing 36.05% to Rs 142.09 crore as Unbound Medicine supplied Rs 41.64 crore of recurring healthcare revenue. The trade-off was lower blended profitability: segment EBITDA rose 14.45% to Rs 46.64 crore, but margin declined to 32.82% from 39.02% because of the acquired business’s royalty-based model.
The next items to watch are MPS’s H2 FY27 effort to convert the Florida and California adoption pipeline and expand Unbound Medicine with hospitals and health systems. Management has given group EBITDA guidance of more than Rs 300 crore for FY27, but has not disclosed a separate Education revenue, EBITDA or margin target.
