Why did Paramount Cosmetics’ profit rise despite lower revenue?
Paramount Cosmetics’ profit rose because expenses declined more than total income and other income increased during the September 2026 quarter. Revenue from operations fell by Rs 5.9144 crore year on year, while other income rose to Rs 78.40 lakh from Rs 22.93 lakh. Total income therefore declined to Rs 3.5619 crore from Rs 8.9216 crore, a smaller reduction than the fall in operating revenue alone.
Total expenses fell to Rs 3.1334 crore in the quarter ended 30 September 2026 from Rs 8.6932 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. That left profit before tax of Rs 42.85 lakh, compared with Rs 22.84 lakh. Deferred tax expense was Rs 21.28 lakh and the prior-period tax credit was Rs 5.58 lakh, resulting in profit after tax of Rs 27.15 lakh.
Which costs changed in Paramount Cosmetics’ September quarter?
Paramount Cosmetics’ purchase of stock-in-trade declined to Rs 72.62 lakh from Rs 7.3244 crore in the September 2025 quarter, accounting for a substantial part of the lower cost base. This was partly offset by a Rs 1.3385 crore expense from changes in inventories of finished goods, work in progress and stock-in-trade, versus an inventory-related credit of Rs 38.33 lakh a year earlier.
Finance cost declined to Rs 3.56 lakh from Rs 29.71 lakh, while depreciation and amortisation expense fell to Rs 11,000 from Rs 11.62 lakh. Other expenses reduced to Rs 48.20 lakh from Rs 74.69 lakh, and employee-benefit expense was Rs 55 lakh compared with Rs 59.19 lakh. These movements contributed to total expenses falling by Rs 5.5598 crore year on year.
Paramount Cosmetics also reported total comprehensive income of Rs 27.75 lakh for the September 2026 quarter, against Rs 13.20 lakh in the prior-year quarter. Other comprehensive income, net of tax, was Rs 60,000, compared with Rs 55,000. Paid-up equity share capital was unchanged at Rs 4.855 crore, while annualised basic and diluted earnings per share were Rs 2.24, versus Rs 1.04 a year earlier.
How did Paramount Cosmetics perform in the first half?

Other income for the six-month period increased to Rs 1.3798 crore from Rs 98 lakh, while total expenses fell to Rs 7.027 crore from Rs 13.7102 crore. Total income was Rs 7.52 crore, compared with Rs 13.9492 crore a year earlier. Annualised basic and diluted earnings per share for the half year were Rs 1.61, against Rs 0.27 in the comparable period.

Revenue from operations, however, declined sequentially from Rs 3.3623 crore to Rs 2.7779 crore.
