What is Uno Minda's total expansion commitment?
Uno Minda's disclosed expansion commitment is Rs 5,287 crore across 16 projects, with Rs 1,628 crore incurred by September 30, 2026. The programme covers new plants, relocations and expansions in Kharkhoda, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Farrukhnagar, Bawal, Harohalli, Khed and Hosur.
The Rs 792 crore four-wheeler, or 4W, alloy-wheel facility at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is the largest individual commitment. It is planned for capacity of 1.8 million wheels a year, with Phase 1 expected to start production in Q2 FY28; Rs 74 crore had been incurred at the reporting date.
The first 10 projects in the register account for Rs 3,467 crore of total cost and Rs 1,627 crore of incurred cost. The final six, largely announced projects scheduled between Q1 FY28 and Q4 FY29, account for Rs 1,820 crore but had only Rs 1 crore of spending, recorded against the Rs 320 crore seating facility.
This split shows that spending was concentrated in projects already commissioned, partly commissioned or under implementation. In contrast, the later group includes the Rs 510 crore Hosur casting project, the Rs 670 crore interior and exterior parts facility and the Rs 85 crore Bawal sunroof expansion, all marked as announced with nil spending except for seating.
Which projects have absorbed most of Uno Minda's spending?
Uno Minda's highest recorded spending was Rs 479 crore on the Rs 542 crore 4W alloy-wheel project at Kharkhoda. Phase 1, with capacity of 60,000 wheels per month, was commissioned, while Phase 2 is expected in Q4 FY28 and would take stated capacity to 120,000 wheels per month.
The next-largest incurred amount was Rs 237 crore for the Rs 283 crore airbags facility at Harohalli operated by TG Minda, a joint venture. The project was marked commissioned with an expected start of production in Q1 FY27, while the Rs 196 crore Bawal expansion for two-wheeler, or 2W, alloy wheels had incurred Rs 177 crore and was partly commissioned.
Among facilities still under implementation, the Rs 437 crore Khed plant for 4W electric-vehicle powertrain products had incurred Rs 218 crore and had Phase 1 scheduled in H2 FY27. The Rs 279 crore Kharkhoda 2W lighting relocation and expansion had incurred Rs 179 crore, with expected start of production in Q3 FY27.
The Rs 116 crore Farrukhnagar 4W switches shifting and expansion project had incurred Rs 114 crore by September 30, 2026. The Rs 63 crore Bawal sunroof new facility had incurred Rs 43 crore and was listed with a Q4 FY27 expected start of production, placing both projects before the larger FY28 and FY29 announced pipeline.

What manufacturing capacity and products are being added?
Uno Minda is adding stated wheel capacity at both Kharkhoda and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The Kharkhoda 4W alloy-wheel project has 120,000 wheels per month of planned capacity, while the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar project is designed for 1.8 million wheels a year and is to be implemented in multiple phases over the next four years.
A separate Rs 155 crore Kharkhoda 2W alloy-wheel project is planned for 3.3 million units a year, including the strategic relocation of 2 million units from Supa. Its expected start of production is Q4 FY28, distinguishing it from the Rs 196 crore Bawal 2W alloy-wheel expansion that was already partly commissioned by September 2026.
The Rs 510 crore Hosur casting project is intended for structural and general applications, including electric-vehicle and powertrain applications, plus about 1 million high-pressure die-cast 2W alloy wheels. Uno Minda says the existing Hosur facility is to be relocated to the new location by Q1 FY29, the same timing shown as the project's expected start of production.
The programme also extends into seating, moulding, sunroofs and safety-related components. The Rs 320 crore seating facility and Rs 670 crore TG Sin joint-venture facility are both at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar; the latter is planned to make interior and exterior automotive parts, airbags, hoses and body-sealing parts, with a Q4 FY29 expected start of production.
When are Uno Minda's projects scheduled to start production?
Uno Minda's disclosed start-of-production schedule spans Q1 FY27 to Q4 FY29, with the latest date attached to the Rs 670 crore TG Sin facility. Near-term milestones include the Farrukhnagar 4W switches project and Kharkhoda 2W lighting project in Q3 FY27, followed by the Rs 63 crore Bawal sunroof facility in Q4 FY27.
FY28 includes Phase 1 of the Rs 792 crore Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar 4W alloy-wheel facility in Q2 FY28 and the Rs 549 crore 4W electric-vehicle powertrain facility at the same location in Q2 FY28. The latter was marked announced and had no incurred spending as of September 30, 2026, unlike the Rs 437 crore Khed powertrain project that had incurred Rs 218 crore.
The presentation contains different details for two later projects. Its strategic-expansion page describes the Rs 80 crore moulding expansion at Bangalore with Q1 FY28 timing, while the project register places the Rs 80 crore project at Harohalli. It also gives Phase 1 of the Rs 85 crore Bawal sunroof expansion as Q2 FY28 on the strategic page, versus Q4 FY28 in the project register.
The remaining scheduled milestones include Q4 FY28 for Kharkhoda 4W alloy-wheel Phase 2, the Rs 155 crore Kharkhoda 2W alloy-wheel project and the Rs 85 crore Bawal sunroof expansion. The Rs 510 crore Hosur casting project is listed for Q1 FY29, before the Rs 670 crore TG Sin project in Q4 FY29.
Conclusion
Uno Minda's Rs 5,287 crore manufacturing programme combines projects already nearing or entering production with a much larger set of later-stage commitments. Of the Rs 1,628 crore incurred by September 30, 2026, Rs 479 crore was tied to Kharkhoda 4W alloy wheels and Rs 237 crore to the Harohalli airbags project, while six later projects had only Rs 1 crore of aggregate spending.
The next disclosed execution points are Q3 FY27 starts for switches and 2W lighting, followed by the Q4 FY27 sunroof facility and multiple FY28 launches. Subsequent disclosures can clarify whether projects marked under implementation meet these start dates and reconcile the differing location and timing information for the Rs 80 crore moulding and Rs 85 crore sunroof expansions.
