Why did VAS Infrastructure make a September-quarter loss?
VAS Infrastructure made a Rs 6.52 lakh loss in the quarter ended September 30, 2026 because total income of Rs 11.239 lakh was below total expenses of Rs 17.759 lakh. With no exceptional items or tax expense reported for the quarter, the pre-tax loss, post-tax loss and total comprehensive loss were each Rs 6.52 lakh.
The result reversed from a Rs 8.986 lakh profit in the quarter ended September 30, 2025. Total income decreased by Rs 9.639 lakh from Rs 20.878 lakh, while expenses increased by Rs 5.867 lakh from Rs 11.892 lakh. Together, those movements changed the result by Rs 15.506 lakh, from profit to loss.
Did VAS Infrastructure generate operating revenue in September 2026?
VAS Infrastructure generated no revenue from operations in the September 30, 2026 quarter, the June 30, 2026 quarter or the September 30, 2025 quarter. Its Rs 11.239 lakh of total income in the latest quarter therefore consisted entirely of other income rather than operating revenue.
For the half year ended September 30, 2026, VAS Infrastructure again reported nil revenue from operations and Rs 14.337 lakh of other income. Other income was Rs 20.912 lakh in the corresponding 2025 half year, while the half-year loss widened to Rs 19.068 lakh from Rs 8.826 lakh.
The detailed quarterly statement recorded no cost of construction and development, purchases of stock in trade, or inventory-change expense for September 2026. Other expenditure was Rs 16.820 lakh, employee-benefit expense was Rs 0.780 lakh and depreciation and amortisation expense was Rs 0.159 lakh.
How did VAS Infrastructure's income and costs change?
VAS Infrastructure's other income rose sequentially to Rs 11.239 lakh from Rs 3.098 lakh in the June 2026 quarter, but was lower than Rs 20.878 lakh a year earlier. The quarterly loss narrowed by Rs 6.028 lakh from Rs 12.548 lakh in June 2026 because total income increased by Rs 8.141 lakh while expenses rose by Rs 2.112 lakh.
Other expenditure increased to Rs 16.820 lakh from Rs 14.727 lakh in June 2026 and Rs 10.811 lakh in September 2025. What does the insolvency process and audit qualification mean for VAS Infrastructure?
VAS Infrastructure remained in the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process, or CIRP, during the September 2026 reporting period. The National Company Law Tribunal, or NCLT, admitted VAS Infrastructure to CIRP on March 11, 2024, and replaced the earlier resolution professional with Bimal Kumar Agarwal through an order dated August 13, 2026.
The auditor issued a qualified conclusion on the September 2026 unaudited results, citing material uncertainty related to going concern. The auditor said VAS Infrastructure was engaging with lenders on a debt-resolution plan and had prepared its accounts on a going-concern basis, but that the uncertainty cast significant doubt on its ability to continue as a going concern.
The auditor also said work-in-progress inventory was carried at historical cost because its net realisable value was unavailable. Trade receivables, investments, payables, borrowings, statutory dues and other financial and non-financial balances were under reconciliation or verification in CIRP, and the auditor said possible resulting adjustments were not ascertainable.
The NCLT rejected the resolution plan submitted by Authum Investment and Infrastructure Limited on July 7, 2026, according to the audit report. It directed the process to restart with a fresh information memorandum and fresh Form G, to be completed within 120 days of the order's August 24, 2026 upload date, without an extension.
Conclusion
VAS Infrastructure's September 2026 result combined nil operating revenue with a Rs 6.52 lakh quarterly loss despite Rs 11.239 lakh of other income. Compared with September 2025, income declined and expenses increased, converting a Rs 8.986 lakh profit into a loss, while the half-year loss widened to Rs 19.068 lakh from Rs 8.826 lakh.
The next disclosed development to watch is the restarted CIRP process, including the fresh information memorandum and Form G required within the NCLT-directed 120-day period from the August 24, 2026 upload date. The lender debt-resolution effort, reconciliation of balances and the auditor's going-concern uncertainty remain unresolved matters.
