What do AI stock research tools charge for in India in 2026?

Quick Answer: AI stock research tools charge for a layer on top of public filings, not for the filings themselves. The underlying disclosures are free from the exchanges by rule. What you pay for is processing, coverage, history, usage limits and support, sold as subscriptions, credits, per-report unlocks or tiered plans.
A question about cost is really two questions. What are these tools charging for, and what determines where a given plan lands.
The first has a clear answer that barely moves between platforms, and the second comes down to five factors covered below.
What do AI stock research tools charge for in India?
The research layer, not the data. Every Indian listed company's results, announcements and call transcripts are public by rule: regulation 46(2)(oa) of SEBI's listing regulations puts transcripts on the company website and the exchanges within five working days, free.
So the paid product is what happens to those documents afterwards. Parsing them, summarising them, making them searchable across companies, joining them to price and fundamentals, and alerting you when something changes.
That is worth paying for or it is not, depending on how much of it you would otherwise do yourself. It is not access to anything withheld.
Everything else in the raw material arrives on its own clock. A call's audio is due before the next trading day or within 24 hours, any video within 48, the quarter's results within 45 days of the quarter ending, and the audited annual results within 60 days of the year end.
A tool that reaches you faster than those deadlines is not reaching the filing sooner. It is watching the same feeds and telling you earlier that something landed.
Which pricing structures are used?
Four recur across the category, and a tool often combines two of them.
Pricing structures used by AI research tools in India, as observed September 2026
| Structure | How it bills | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Freemium with a quota | Free tier capped by usage, paid tiers above it | Trying the tool before committing |
| Tiered subscription | Monthly or annual, features by tier | Steady, predictable usage |
| Credit pack | Prepaid credits consumed per query or per report | Irregular, bursty usage |
| Per-report or per-company unlock | Pay for one deep dive at a time | A small number of specific names |
Structure matters more than the headline number for irregular users. A subscription priced for daily use is poor value at four queries a month, whatever the sticker says.
Annual billing against monthly is the other axis, and it usually trades a discount for commitment.
What shapes what you pay for an AI research tool in India in 2026?
Five things, and none of them is the model itself. Coverage of companies, depth of history, how many queries or reports a tier allows, whether filings and calls are included or extra, and whether the data can leave the tool through export or an API.
History is the quiet cost driver. Parsing one quarter of filings is cheap; holding several years of them across thousands of companies, searchable, is not.
Indian goods and services tax may apply to an online subscription on top of the plan price. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs is the authority on whether and how it applies, and your tax invoice shows what was actually charged.
How do usage limits change between free and paid tiers?
Mainly in query caps, history depth and capacity, as Multibagg's own plans show. Those are the cost drivers above, set out as numbers.
Multibagg AI plan limits (multibagg.ai pricing page, as of 28 September 2026)
| Limit | Standard (free) | Premium | Professional |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ask Iris questions per month | 20 | 500 | 1,000 |
| Financial documents history | Last 5 quarters | Last 20 quarters | Last 40 quarters |
| Custom screens | 3 | 10 | 500 |
| Watchlist companies | 25 | 100 | 500 |
| Portfolio connections | 1 | 3 | 10 |
| Portfolio syncs per month | 10 | 50 | 200 |
Access to the financial documents themselves is unlimited on all three tiers. What rises with the plan is how much of that material the tool will process, keep and search for you, which is the research layer this article describes. Current plan prices sit on the pricing page itself.
Why are global AI research tools priced in dollars?
Because the provider is incorporated and billed outside India, so the subscription is a foreign-currency purchase with two extra costs attached. Your final cost then depends on the exchange rate on the billing date and on whatever your card issuer adds.
Two costs follow that are invisible on the vendor's pricing page: the currency conversion, and any foreign transaction charge. Both fall on the buyer and neither is set by the tool.
Indian providers bill in ₹, which removes both variables. That is a difference in billing mechanics, not a statement about which tool is better.
What are you not paying for?
Advice. A research tool is not an investment adviser or a research analyst, and SEBI has cautioned the public since 2016 to deal only with SEBI-registered investment advisers and research analysts.
The test is what the entity does and what it is registered as, not whether a model produced the text. Paying for a subscription does not turn its output into a recommendation, and it does not place the provider under the adviser framework.
Multibagg AI is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, and Ask Iris answers questions over filings rather than issuing calls. Our explainer on screening across NSE and BSE stocks covers what the underlying coverage looks like.
Is there a price cap on paid stock research in India?
For SEBI-registered research analysts, yes: ₹1,51,000 a year per family for individual and HUF clients, under SEBI's guidelines for research analysts dated 8 January 2025. The cap excludes statutory charges, and it is revised once every three years using the Cost Inflation Index.
Advance billing has its own limit. Since SEBI's circular of 2 April 2025, a research analyst may collect fees in advance for at most one year, and only if the client agrees.
The cap applies to the regulated service, not to software. An AI research tool that does not issue recommendations is not a registered research analyst, so its plans sit outside this ceiling.
What should you check before paying?
Four things, and the free tier answers most of them. Whether your companies are covered, how far the history runs, what one month of your actual usage consumes, and whether the tool shows you the source passage behind a claim.
That last one is the difference between a tool you can check and one you must trust. A summary that quotes and links back to the filing can be verified against NSE's corporate filings announcements page in a minute.
Export matters if you model anything yourself, and a return figure across dated cash flows needs its own calculation, as our note on working out XIRR across stocks and funds shows.
Coverage is worth testing against your own list rather than a headline count. Company pages in Multibagg's stocks section show which companies carry filings, fundamentals and price history, which is the coverage question in concrete form. Multibagg's own plans and usage quotas are on its pricing page, and Multibagg's screener shows what the free tier covers.
