What caused G.S. Auto's operating cash outflow?
G.S. Auto's operating cash outflow resulted from working-capital movements that exceeded its operating profit before those movements. The cash-flow statement recorded Rs 6.75 crore of operating profit before working-capital changes for the period ended September 30, 2026, but reported Rs 20.89 crore of cash absorbed through working-capital adjustments. Cash generated from operations consequently stood at negative Rs 14.14 crore, with no income tax payment recorded for the period.
The largest stated working-capital use was a Rs 7.09 crore decrease in liabilities. Inventories used Rs 3.43 crore, other financial assets used Rs 3.39 crore and other assets used Rs 3.10 crore. Trade receivables absorbed Rs 2.53 crore, while the reported trade-payable movement used Rs 1.08 crore and provisions used Rs 25.58 lakh.
The operating result contrasts with the year ended March 31, 2026, when G.S. Auto reported Rs 7.64 crore of net cash from operating activities. The two periods are not like for like because the latest figure covers six months and the comparator covers a full year. However, the reported direction changed from an operating inflow in the prior year to an outflow in the latest half year.
How did G.S. Auto remain profitable before tax?
G.S. Auto remained profitable before tax because reported income exceeded reported expenses, even though cash was absorbed by balance-sheet movements. Profit before tax rose to Rs 3.05 crore in the half year ended September 30, 2026, from Rs 1.52 crore in the corresponding half year ended September 30, 2025. Net profit rose to Rs 2.48 crore from Rs 1.28 crore after deferred-tax expense of Rs 57.47 lakh in the latest half year.
Revenue from operations increased to Rs 75.09 crore from Rs 68.81 crore a year earlier. Other income was Rs 9.80 lakh, taking total income to Rs 75.19 crore, compared with Rs 68.88 crore in the corresponding half year of 2025. Total expenses increased to Rs 72.14 crore from Rs 67.36 crore, leaving the higher pre-tax result.
The cash-flow statement adds back Rs 1.92 crore of depreciation and amortisation and Rs 1.85 crore of finance cost to pre-tax profit. It deducts Rs 8 lakh of interest on security deposits in arriving at operating profit before working-capital changes. These non-cash and financing-related adjustments explain why the Rs 3.05 crore pre-tax profit became Rs 6.75 crore at that intermediate cash-flow measure.
G.S. Auto disclosed one operating segment, auto components, in the notes to the half-year financial results. The gap between Rs 2.48 crore of reported net profit and negative Rs 14.14 crore of operating cash flow therefore reflects the reported working-capital adjustments rather than a separately disclosed segment loss or cash-flow result.

What did the limited review say about G.S. Auto's results?
G.S. Auto's statutory auditor issued an unmodified limited-review conclusion on the unaudited quarter and half-year financial results approved on November 6, 2026. The auditor stated that nothing had come to its attention to indicate that the financial statement had not disclosed the required information or contained a material misstatement.
The review was conducted under Standard on Review Engagements 2410, which the auditor described as substantially less extensive than an audit. The auditor therefore said it did not express an audit opinion. The conclusion applied to the standalone unaudited financial results for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2026.
Conclusion
G.S. Auto's latest half-year figures show higher revenue of Rs 75.09 crore and pre-tax profit of Rs 3.05 crore, but no conversion of those earnings into operating cash. A Rs 20.89 crore working-capital outflow, led by liabilities, inventory, other assets and receivables, produced negative operating cash flow of Rs 14.14 crore.
The unresolved issue disclosed by the results is whether the September 30 working-capital balances begin to release cash or continue to require financing. Subsequent disclosures can be assessed against inventory of Rs 33.40 crore, receivables of Rs 19.83 crore, other current assets of Rs 5.73 crore, net financing inflows and changes in long-term and short-term borrowings.
