How did Voltas retain its RAC market lead?
Voltas retained its number-one Room Air Conditioner, or RAC, position with a 17.4% market share for the year to date ended September 2026, holding a 4.2 percentage-point lead over its nearest competitor. RAC volume increased 32% in Q2 FY27 and was the main driver of the Unitary Cooling Products business's 29% revenue growth.
Voltas attributed the Q2 FY27 RAC outcome to its product portfolio, channel engagement and expanding distribution footprint. The company cited its new artificial intelligence, or AI, split-air-conditioner range, product innovation and greater market accessibility as elements of its approach during the quarter ended 30 September 2026.
Unitary Cooling Products generated Rs 1,567 crore of revenue in Q2 FY27 and Rs 5,360 crore in the first six months of FY27. Commercial Air Conditioning recorded stable growth and Home Comfort products grew during Q2 FY27, while Commercial Refrigeration had a flat quarter.
What changed in Voltas's cooling profitability?
Voltas said Unitary Cooling Products improved profitability in Q2 FY27 despite commodity inflation and adverse currency movements. The segment reported a result of Rs 20 crore on Q2 FY27 revenue of Rs 1,567 crore, while its six-month FY27 result was Rs 221 crore on revenue of Rs 5,360 crore.
Management attributed the improvement to calibrated pricing and cost optimisation during Q2 FY27. The measures named in the filing were localisation, sourcing efficiencies, product redesign and manufacturing-productivity improvements; the company did not disclose a comparable Q2 FY26 segment result.
At the consolidated level, Voltas reported total income of Rs 2,746 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 2,412 crore in Q2 FY26. Profit before tax increased to Rs 83 crore from Rs 54 crore, and profit after tax rose to Rs 48 crore from Rs 32 crore.

The segment recorded Q2 FY27 revenue of Rs 816 crore and a segment result of Rs 75 crore, compared with Rs 1,488 crore and Rs 113 crore, respectively, for the first six months of FY27.
Domestic Projects won orders in industrial infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, metro and tunnel projects, and data centres during the period to September 2026. Voltas said it was applying selective order booking, execution discipline, working-capital management and project-profitability criteria, meaning the order book represents work to be executed rather than revenue recognised in Q2 FY27.
In International Projects, Voltas said a favourable resolution of the Sidra Bank Guarantee matter eliminated related contingent liabilities. The filing did not disclose the amount of those liabilities, but said the resolution strengthened the business's risk profile while disciplined execution, risk management and selective bidding continued.
The projects segment was smaller than Unitary Cooling Products by Q2 FY27 revenue, at Rs 816 crore against Rs 1,567 crore, but its segment result was higher at Rs 75 crore against Rs 20 crore. This is a comparison of reported segment results and does not represent a disclosed margin measure.

Voltas said Voltbek achieved record Q2 sales and had year-to-date market shares of 8.8% in Washing Machines and 7.0% in Refrigerators at September 2026. The home-appliances business cited an improving product mix, market-share gains and wider distribution as contributors to its Q2 FY27 growth.
Voltbek expanded its offering with Frost Free Refrigerators and Fully Automatic Washing Machines in the period to September 2026. Voltas also identified product segmentation, consumer engagement, distribution penetration, sourcing efficiencies and portfolio optimisation as part of the business's plan to improve profitability over time, but did not disclose Voltbek revenue or profit.
Engineering Products and Services recorded revenue growth of more than 30% in Q2 FY27, supported by Mining and Construction Equipment and Textile Machinery. The segment generated Rs 185 crore of Q2 FY27 revenue and Rs 53 crore of segment result, followed by Rs 344 crore and Rs 94 crore, respectively, in the first six months of FY27.
Mining and Construction Equipment benefited from crushing and screening equipment, operations-and-maintenance contracts, African operations, aftermarket activity and services in Q2 FY27. Textile Machinery continued to grow despite a cautious industry environment, supported by spinning and post-spinning solutions, after-sales services, spinning accessories and customer-support offerings.
Conclusion
Voltas combined 32% RAC volume growth with a 17.4% year-to-date RAC market share and 29% Unitary Cooling Products revenue growth in Q2 FY27. Its other disclosed businesses added separate sources of activity, with projects holding an order book above Rs 6,800 crore, Voltbek reporting appliance-market shares, and Engineering Products and Services growing by more than 30%.
The next disclosed measures to watch are conversion of the projects order book through execution and working-capital management, alongside Voltas's plan to expand distribution, introduce relevant products, enhance customer experience and improve operating efficiencies.
