What drove Voltas RAC growth in Q2 FY27?
Voltas recorded 32% RAC volume growth in Q2 FY27, with the RAC business identified as the main driver of 29% revenue growth in the Unitary Cooling Products (UCP) segment. Voltas attributed the result to its brand franchise, product portfolio, distribution strength and execution across sales channels and geographies.
The cooling category received support from an extended summer in a traditionally lean Q2 FY27, according to Voltas. The company said relatively stable domestic demand aided consumer durables sales, although commodity inflation and currency volatility raised manufacturing and supply-chain costs across the broader industry.
During Q2 FY27, Voltas said its RAC portfolio covered different capacities, energy-efficiency ratings, technologies and price points. Product differentiation, energy efficiency and consumer-relevant features were part of its stated approach to retaining portfolio competitiveness as cooling demand expanded.
How large is Voltas's RAC market share lead?
Voltas held 17.4% of the Indian RAC market in the year to date ended September 2026, up approximately 1.5 percentage points from the corresponding prior-year period, and reported a 4.2-percentage-point lead over its nearest competitor. Voltas identified itself as India’s No. 1 RAC brand.
The two measures describe different comparisons for the year to date ended September 2026. The approximately 1.5-percentage-point change is Voltas's share gain against the corresponding prior-year period, while the 4.2-percentage-point figure is its reported distance from the nearest competitor; the presentation does not disclose the prior-year competitive gap.
Voltas linked the share result to product positioning, distribution reach and consumer engagement. For the year to date ended September 2026, it said distribution expansion remained a priority in emerging consumption centres and lower-penetration RAC markets, alongside stronger channel partnerships and product availability.
How did UCP growth coincide with Voltas's Q2 financial results?
Voltas's 29% UCP revenue growth in Q2 FY27 coincided with higher consolidated income, profit before tax and net profit than in Q2 FY26. RAC volume growth of 32% was the principal UCP growth driver identified by Voltas, although the presentation does not provide RAC revenue or UCP profit figures.
Voltas said UCP profitability improved in Q2 FY27 compared with the corresponding quarter of the prior year despite commodity and currency-related pressures. It attributed the improvement to revenue growth, operating efficiencies and structural cost measures introduced since FY26, without disclosing segment margins or the contribution from each measure.
The cost programme cited by Voltas includes calibrated pricing, strategic sourcing, greater localisation, product redesign, manufacturing productivity improvements and tighter operating-cost management. These mechanisms were intended to address the input-cost and currency pressures that affected the consumer-durables industry during Q2 FY27.

Which businesses complemented Voltas's RAC sales in Q2 FY27?
Voltas's commercial air-conditioning business recorded stable growth in Q2 FY27, supported by demand from commercial real estate, healthcare, hospitality, retail, manufacturing and data centres. Voltas said this business has lower seasonal dependence than RACs, providing a commercial and institutional complement to the consumer cooling portfolio.
In Q2 FY27, Home Comfort products comprising air coolers, water heaters and fans recorded healthy growth, while Commercial Refrigeration remained relatively flat because of softer demand. The contrast shows that adjacent UCP categories did not move at the same pace as RACs during the quarter.
Voltbek recorded its highest quarterly sales in both value and volume in Q2 FY27, according to Voltas. For the year to date ended September 2026, Voltbek had approximately 8.8% share in washing machines, 7.0% in refrigerators and 14.9% in semi-automatic washing machines, where it held the No. 2 position.
What does Voltas plan after its Q2 RAC gain?
Voltas plans to support RAC market-share gains through investment in product innovation, brand development, distribution reach and customer experience. Its manufacturing strategy includes greater localisation of critical components, including compressor sourcing and manufacturing opportunities, to reduce import dependence and improve long-term cost competitiveness.
Voltas did not disclose a numerical RAC market-share, revenue or margin target after Q2 FY27. It said pricing actions and the FY26 cost-optimisation programme would continue to address commodity-cost and currency volatility, while investments in distribution and product development would support market coverage.
Outside cooling, Segment B, Electro-Mechanical Projects and Services, had a total order pad of over Rs 6,800 crore as of September 30, 2026. Voltas said selective order booking, contractual discipline, execution efficiency and working-capital management were central to converting this order book while managing project risk.
Conclusion
Taken together, the Q2 FY27 results show that Voltas combined higher RAC volumes with a 17.4% year-to-date market share and higher UCP revenue. Consolidated total income increased to Rs 2,746 crore from Rs 2,412 crore, while net profit rose to Rs 48 crore from Rs 32 crore despite disclosed commodity and currency pressures.
The next disclosed operating focus is execution of Voltas's localisation, sourcing, product redesign and manufacturing-productivity plans, including compressor-related opportunities. Progress in distribution expansion, RAC share retention and the conversion of the over Rs 6,800 crore Segment B order pad will provide further evidence on how these plans are translating into sales, profitability and cash-flow management.
