What medium-voltage products is Indo SMC adding?
Indo SMC is adding metering cubicles up to 33 kilovolts, or kV, PCVCB panels at 11 kV and 33 kV, and an RMU for medium-voltage distribution networks. The presentation positions this equipment for electrical substations and distribution systems, where it is used for measurement, monitoring and protection. Alongside the new products, Indo SMC lists outdoor current transformers at 11 kV and 33 kV, indoor current transformers at 11 kV, and 11 kV bar-type current transformers.
The new metering cubicle is specified for utility and industrial distribution networks up to 33 kV. Indo SMC says it is suitable for three-phase, four-wire systems and uses current-transformer and potential-transformer assemblies for metering. Its stated features include tamper-proof epoxy-sealed secondary connections and a lockable, sealed meter compartment for utility and industrial substations.
Indo SMC says it currently manufactures 11 kV metering cubicles and plans to launch the 33 kV version by July 26. It puts annual turnover for the metering-cubicle product at about Rs 30 crore. By comparison, the company states annual revenue of Rs 100 crore from indoor and outdoor current transformers, potential transformers and isolators across 11 kV and 33 kV, which is Rs 70 crore above the metering-cubicle turnover figure.
When will Indo SMC launch its PCVCB panel?
Indo SMC says it will launch its PCVCB panel by August 2026 and is targeting 20% of the market by 2027. The presentation states a cost of Rs 1.35 lakh per device. It names Crompton Greaves, ABB, Stelmec and Megawin as major competitors, and says electricity boards use the product except in Punjab and Haryana.
For the 11 kV PCVCB panel, Indo SMC lists rated normal-current options of 630 amperes, 800 amperes and 1,250 amperes, depending on load requirements. The stated short-circuit breaking current is 25 kiloamperes, or kA, or 31.5 kA for three seconds. The specification also includes a 75 kV peak impulse withstand voltage, 28 kV root-mean-square power-frequency withstand voltage for one minute, 50 hertz frequency and an O-0.3sec-CO-3min-CO operating-duty cycle.
The 33 kV PCVCB specification lists a highest system voltage of 36 kV and a rated current of 1,250 amperes, varying up to 1,600 amperes depending on the manufacturer. Its short-time current rating remains 25 kA or 31.5 kA for three seconds, matching the 11 kV panel. However, the 33 kV model's stated impulse withstand rating is 170 kV peak, versus 75 kV peak at 11 kV, and its power-frequency withstand rating is 70 kV root-mean-square for one minute, versus 28 kV.
The 33 kV panel also includes a motor-operated spring-charge mechanism with trip-free operation. Indo SMC lists numerical overcurrent and earth-fault relays, plus local and remote control switches, as panel-protection features. The presentation does not give a revenue target for PCVCB panels, beyond the Rs 1.35 lakh stated device cost and the 20% market-share target for 2027.

What are Indo SMC's RMU specifications and revenue expectation?
Indo SMC plans to launch its RMU in June 2027 and expects total revenue of about Rs 200 crore from the product. The presentation describes the RMU as sulphur hexafluoride, or SF6, insulated compact switchgear for medium-voltage distribution networks. It says a vacuum circuit breaker combined with relays and current transformers protects the transformer.
The RMU can be supplied in standard two-, three-, four-, five-, six-, seven- and eight-way configurations, with additional equipment according to customer specifications. Indo SMC says the product can combine fully modular and semi-modular configurations and has extendibility. The units or modules are delivered ready for installation, and the presentation says no special tools are required for installation.
Indo SMC says the RMU has a sealed stainless-steel tank containing live components and switching functions. Transformer protection can be through either a switch-fuse combination or a vacuum circuit breaker. The standard relays are based on digital technology and do not require an auxiliary power supply, while routine tests are carried out on all units or modules before dispatch. The company identifies Chint, Siemens, ABB, C-sec and Megawin as major RMU competitors.
How does Indo SMC's timetable run through 2027?
Indo SMC's disclosed medium-voltage timetable begins with a 33 kV metering-cubicle launch by July 26, followed by a PCVCB panel launch by August 2026 and an RMU launch in June 2027. The PCVCB market-share target also applies to 2027, although the presentation gives no month for reaching 20%. This sequence places the RMU launch after both the metering-cubicle and PCVCB-panel milestones.
The RMU revenue expectation of about Rs 200 crore is Rs 170 crore higher than the about Rs 30 crore annual turnover stated for metering cubicles. It is also Rs 100 crore higher than the Rs 100 crore annual revenue that Indo SMC states for current transformers, potential transformers and isolators. The presentation does not specify the period over which the about Rs 200 crore RMU revenue is expected, so it is not directly comparable with the annual figures for the other product groups.
Conclusion
Indo SMC has set out a medium-voltage expansion path covering 33 kV metering cubicles, PCVCB panels and RMUs. The plan combines product specifications with dated commercial milestones: a July 26 33 kV metering-cubicle launch, an August 2026 PCVCB launch and a June 2027 RMU launch. Its stated objectives include 20% PCVCB market share by 2027 and about Rs 200 crore of expected RMU revenue.
The next disclosed events to watch are the planned 33 kV metering-cubicle and PCVCB launches, followed by the RMU launch in June 2027. Management has not disclosed a time period for the RMU revenue expectation, a PCVCB revenue target or a month for attaining the 20% PCVCB market-share goal, leaving those measures unresolved in the presentation.
