How were capital employed and reported comparability affected?
Kirloskar Industries reported iron-casting capital employed of Rs 1,797.53 crore at 30 September 2026, up from Rs 1,572.91 crore a year earlier. The company said comparative quarterly results for financial year 2025-26 were restated after Oliver Engineering Private Limited and Adicca Energy Solutions Private Limited merged with subsidiary Kirloskar Ferrous Industries Limited. Kirloskar Ferrous Industries recognised a deferred tax asset on the scheme’s appointed date of 1 April 2025, while the June 2026 quarter included Rs 29.33 crore of stamp duty and associated merger expenses relating to ISMT Limited.
Conclusion
Kirloskar Industries’ September disclosure shows that iron casting and steel increased their contributions while tube profitability declined sharply despite higher quarterly revenue. The Rs 47.83 crore increase in iron-casting PBIT and Rs 21.51 crore increase in steel PBIT supported the Rs 18.82 crore rise in total continuing-operations PBIT to Rs 192.68 crore.
The next segment disclosures will clarify whether tube PBIT recovers from the Rs 54.44 crore first-half level and whether iron casting maintains its Rs 245.48 crore first-half PBIT. Comparability will remain relevant because prior periods were restated following subsidiary mergers and the half year included a Rs 29.33 crore merger-related exceptional expense.
