Savita Oil Technologies Limited (SAVITA) plans to raise lubricant capacity by 50% and double diesel exhaust fluid capacity after H1 FY27 total income increased 53.3% year on year to Rs 3,224.8 crore. Management linked the plan to continuing double-digit lubricant growth and the market response to its Savsol Ester5 automotive lubricant range.

Why is SAVITA expanding lubricant and diesel exhaust fluid capacity?
SAVITA is planning the additions because its Lubricant division recorded double-digit growth in H1 FY27 and Savsol Ester5 sales grew at four times the automotive-lubricant industry growth rate, according to management. Chairman and Managing Director Gautam N. Mehra said the Ester5 range, launched last year, had received a very positive market response.
The disclosed project calls for a 50% lubricant-capacity increase and a doubling of diesel exhaust fluid capacity. SAVITA did not disclose capital expenditure, current installed capacity, plant location, implementation milestones or a commissioning date in its 5 November 2026 earnings release, so the resulting physical output cannot be calculated from the announcement.
How did SAVITA perform before the expansion announcement?
SAVITA reported Q2 FY27 total income of Rs 1,714.1 crore, its highest quarterly income, up 57.2% from Rs 1,090.4 crore in Q2 FY26. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 350.3% to Rs 296.4 crore, while profit before tax (PBT) increased 410.2% to Rs 283.1 crore.
For H1 FY27, SAVITA's total income reached Rs 3,224.8 crore, compared with Rs 2,103.2 crore in H1 FY26. EBITDA rose to Rs 693.1 crore from Rs 150.1 crore and PBT increased to Rs 669.7 crore from Rs 127.8 crore, with EBITDA margin rising to 21.5% from 7.1% and PBT margin to 20.8% from 6.1%.
The first-half earnings also exceeded the corresponding full-year FY26 measures: H1 FY27 EBITDA of Rs 693.1 crore was above FY26 EBITDA of Rs 290.6 crore, while H1 FY27 PBT of Rs 669.7 crore exceeded FY26 PBT of Rs 244.4 crore. FY26 total income was Rs 4,407.7 crore, compared with Rs 3,224.8 crore in the first six months of FY27.
Which products supported SAVITA's recent growth?
SAVITA said transformer oils, white oils and export volumes each registered healthy double-digit sequential growth in Q2 FY27. The company separately reported double-digit growth in its Lubricant division for H1 FY27, making lubricants the segment directly identified as the basis for the planned 50% capacity increase.
Savsol Ester5 is the range most closely associated with the expansion plan. Management said the ester-technology-based automotive lubricant range was growing at four times the industry growth rate and supported SAVITA's strategy to move towards a more premium product portfolio, but the release did not give Ester5 revenue, volumes, market share or the underlying industry growth rate.
Crude oil and refined-product price volatility, combined with tighter supply, increased input feedstock costs and prices across SAVITA's product portfolio in Q2 FY27. Management said it remained cautiously optimistic despite significant daily volatility in key feedstock supplies, which remains relevant to its transformer oils, white oils and lubricant operations.

What other fluid products is SAVITA developing?
SAVITA said ester-based fluids for refrigeration compressors continued to gain approvals from existing and new original equipment manufacturers, or OEMs. The release did not disclose revenue, volume, capacity or a commercial-production target for these refrigeration-compressor fluids as of 5 November 2026.
SAVITA's research and development work also covers ester-based immersion coolants for electric-vehicle batteries used in mobility applications and stationary batteries used in battery energy storage systems, or BESS. Management said its research team was tailoring products for various OEMs and described the area as having potential for large volumes, without disclosing sales or a production timeline.
SAVITA has manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra and Silvassa, in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, but did not identify the site for the planned additions. Its portfolio includes transformer oils, liquid paraffins, white oils, automotive and industrial lubricants, coolants and greases, serving industries including power generation, automotive, pharmaceuticals and refrigeration.
What remains undisclosed about SAVITA's expansion plan?
SAVITA has disclosed the capacity changes, 50% for lubricants and 100% for diesel exhaust fluids, but not the project's cost, financing, capacity base or completion schedule. The plan therefore indicates management's intended manufacturing direction without providing enough information to quantify the project's output or potential revenue contribution.
The release also contains no FY27 forecast for income, EBITDA, PBT or margins after H1 FY27 income of Rs 3,224.8 crore. Management's comments on Ester5, OEM approvals and battery-cooling fluids identify product-development areas, but do not provide targets for customer wins, sales or commercial production.
Conclusion
SAVITA's stated capacity plan follows a first half in which total income increased 53.3% and the Lubricant division delivered double-digit growth. The proposed 50% lubricant expansion is tied to management's reported demand trends, while the planned doubling of diesel exhaust fluid capacity extends the manufacturing response to a second product category.
The next disclosures to watch are capital expenditure, the selected manufacturing site, the existing capacity base and a commissioning schedule, none of which were provided on 5 November 2026. Updates on feedstock volatility, Savsol Ester5 growth and OEM approvals for refrigeration and battery-cooling fluids would provide further detail on the planned product mix.
