Why did Time Technoplast’s value-added margin remain above 18%?
Time Technoplast’s value-added products recorded an 18.3% EBITDA margin in H1FY27, compared with 18.4% in H1FY26, a decline of 10 basis points. Revenue in this category increased 29% to Rs 1,045.9 crore from Rs 810.6 crore. The company classifies intermediate bulk containers (IBC), composite cylinders for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), oxygen and compressed natural gas (CNG), and MOX Films as value-added products.
The Q2 comparison showed a similar margin pattern. Value-added revenue rose 32% to Rs 606.4 crore in Q2FY27 from Rs 460 crore in Q2FY26, while the EBITDA margin moved to 18.5% from 18.7%. The reported quarterly margin therefore changed by 20 basis points despite a Rs 146.4 crore rise in revenue.
Value-added products represented 29% of revenue under Time Technoplast’s business categorisation in H1FY27, compared with 71% for established products. The company overview shows Rs 489 crore of IBC revenue, Rs 430 crore of composite-products revenue and Rs 127 crore of MOX Film revenue within the value-added portfolio. IBC was the largest disclosed value-added product line during the half year.
How much did Time Technoplast’s established-products profitability change?
Time Technoplast’s established-products EBITDA margin declined to 11.3% in H1FY27 from 13.2% in H1FY26, a reduction of 190 basis points. Revenue nevertheless increased 29% to Rs 2,644 crore from Rs 2,055.2 crore. Established products delivered a Rs 588.8 crore absolute revenue increase, but at a lower reported margin than value-added products.
In Q2FY27, established-products revenue increased 32% to Rs 1,389.7 crore from Rs 1,052.2 crore in Q2FY26. Its EBITDA margin was 11.0%, compared with 13.1% a year earlier, a 210-basis-point decline. The Q2FY27 margin was also 750 basis points below the 18.5% margin reported for value-added products in the same quarter.
The established-products grouping includes HM-HDPE plastic drums, jerry cans and pails, polyethylene (PE) pipes, turf and mattings, disposable bins, energy-storage devices, auto products and steel drums. Polymer drums, jerry cans and pails generated Rs 2,298 crore, or 62%, of H1FY27 revenue in the company overview. This disclosed mix helps explain why the established category remains the larger revenue contributor despite its lower margin.
What does Time Technoplast’s revenue mix indicate about margins?
Time Technoplast’s H1FY27 business mix was 71% established products and 29% value-added products, with respective EBITDA margins of 11.3% and 18.3%. The 700-basis-point gap means the smaller value-added category had the higher reported profitability rate, while established products accounted for Rs 2,644 crore of revenue.
The company overview states total H1FY27 revenue of Rs 3,689 crore, while the business-category segment figures are Rs 2,644 crore for established products and Rs 1,045.9 crore for value-added products. The overview rounds the category values to Rs 2,644 crore and Rs 1,046 crore, respectively. The presentation does not explain the difference between the stated total and the sum of the more detailed segment figures.
The regulatory segment view gives a different product grouping. Polymer Products generated Rs 2,284.5 crore in H1FY27, up 28% from Rs 1,788.4 crore, while EBITDA margin declined to 12.9% from 14.1%. Composite Products generated Rs 1,405.4 crore, up 31% from Rs 1,075.3 crore, and its margin declined to 13.9% from 15.6%.

Why are Time Technoplast’s segment presentations not directly comparable?
Time Technoplast’s regulatory-reporting segments and business categories are not directly comparable because they assign some products differently. MOX Films sit within Polymer Products under regulatory reporting but are included in Value Added Products under business categorisation. Polymer Products also include HM-HDPE packaging, PE pipes, turf and mattings, and disposable bins.
Composite Products include IBC, composite cylinders, energy-storage devices, auto products and steel drums in the regulatory presentation. However, the business-category presentation places IBC and composite cylinders in Value Added Products, while energy-storage devices, auto products and steel drums are established products. The 12.9% Polymer Products margin and 13.9% Composite Products margin therefore cannot be equated with the 11.3% established-products margin and 18.3% value-added-products margin.
Industrial packaging accounted for 75% of H1FY27 revenue when polymer drums, jerry cans, pails and IBC are combined. Polymer drums, jerry cans and pails contributed Rs 2,298 crore, or 62%, while IBC contributed Rs 489 crore, or 13%. The source identifies specialty chemicals at 31% and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) at 29% in its industrial-packaging user-industry breakdown.
What could affect Time Technoplast’s product mix in FY27?
Time Technoplast has five projects listed as in process for completion in FY27: packaging and PE-pipe projects at Sanand, Gujarat, Cuttack, Odisha, and Chiplun, Maharashtra; polymer-product recycling expansion across North and South India through Time Ecotech Pvt. Ltd.; and a packaging-products project at Saudi Dammam III through Gulf Power Beat. The presentation does not disclose investment amounts, capacities, expected revenue or margin targets for these projects.
The company also reported completing two projects in H1FY27. These were a greenfield conical polymer-pails and injection-moulded-products facility at Bhilad, Gujarat, and additional IBC manufacturing capacity at Bhuj, Gujarat through a TPL Plastech Ltd. subsidiary. The Bhilad facility uses dedicated injection-moulding machines with robotic automation, while Bhuj has a blow-moulding machine and an automated IBC assembly line.
Management says the Bhilad project is intended to improve manufacturing efficiency, production consistency, capacity utilisation and scalability. It says the Bhuj capacity is intended to meet demand in South Gujarat and improve throughput through automated manufacturing and assembly. The presentation provides no capacity addition, revenue contribution or EBITDA effect for either completed project.
Conclusion
Time Technoplast’s H1FY27 segment figures show equal 29% revenue growth in its two business categories, but different profitability outcomes. Established products added Rs 588.8 crore of revenue and remained 71% of the business mix, while value-added products maintained an 18.3% EBITDA margin against a 190-basis-point decline in the established-products margin to 11.3%.
The next point to watch is the completion of FY27 projects at Sanand, Cuttack, Chiplun, North and South India, and Saudi Dammam III. Time Technoplast has disclosed their product focus and in-process status, but not capacity, spending, revenue or margin targets, leaving future effects on mix and profitability unresolved.
