What caused Univastu India Ltd's investing cash outflow?
Univastu India Ltd's ₹50.90 crore investing outflow was principally driven by ₹38.53 crore of fixed-deposit placements and a ₹8.95 crore investment in a partnership firm during the half year ended September 30, 2026. It also spent ₹2.53 crore on capital expenditure, purchased ₹2.46 crore of equity shares classified as fair value through profit or loss, or FVTPL, and received ₹61.70 lakh of interest.
The direction differed from the corresponding half year ended September 30, 2025, when investing activities produced a ₹6.02 crore inflow. Fixed deposits released ₹10.86 crore of cash in that earlier period, whereas their placement used ₹38.53 crore in the latest half year. Investment in the partnership firm also increased from ₹4.74 crore in the prior-year half to ₹8.95 crore.
FVTPL transactions created a net ₹1.51 crore outflow in the latest period, as Univastu India Ltd purchased ₹2.46 crore of shares and sold ₹95.22 lakh. The cash-flow statement records no investing cash flow for subsidiaries or associates in either half-year column. Separately, the company disclosed that it completed the USD 5.10 million acquisition of Cambium Networks Ltd., UK, on October 12, 2026, after the September 30 reporting date.
How did Univastu India Ltd fund the cash deficit?
Univastu India Ltd funded the combined operating and investing cash position through a ₹51.31 crore financing inflow, led by ₹33.18 crore of higher working-capital borrowings and ₹12.86 crore of equity-share proceeds. Operating activities generated ₹11.65 crore, which did not cover the ₹50.90 crore investing outflow, leaving a ₹39.25 crore cash requirement before financing.
The financing result changed from a ₹3.18 crore outflow in the half year ended September 30, 2025 to a ₹51.31 crore inflow in the latest period. Net working-capital borrowing increased by ₹33.18 crore in the latest half year, compared with ₹53 lakh in the earlier half. Finance costs paid fell to ₹1.91 crore from ₹3.99 crore.
Other financing movements included ₹8.95 crore allocated to partners' current capital, a ₹3.96 crore increase in current maturities of long-term borrowings and ₹1.96 crore relating to a right-of-use asset. Univastu India Ltd received ₹4.51 crore from short-term borrowings and repaid ₹10.29 crore. The reported net result across operating, investing and financing activities was a ₹12.06 crore increase in cash and cash equivalents.

What changed in receivables, payables and borrowings?
Univastu India Ltd's current trade receivables increased by ₹29.45 crore to ₹110.08 crore at September 30, 2026 from ₹80.63 crore at March 31, 2026. The cash-flow reconciliation records a ₹29.39 crore use of cash from higher current trade receivables, the largest operating-working-capital outflow for the half year.
Non-current trade receivables declined to ₹21.86 crore from ₹25.91 crore, generating a ₹4.05 crore cash-flow offset. Other current assets used ₹14.22 crore of cash, while short-term loans and advances used ₹4.59 crore. These asset movements occurred as revenue from operations reached ₹253.64 crore in the half year ended September 30, 2026, compared with ₹77.74 crore a year earlier.
Current borrowings rose to ₹60.64 crore at September 30 from ₹28.07 crore at March 31, broadly matching the cash-flow statement's ₹33.18 crore working-capital borrowing increase. Non-current borrowings increased to ₹10.39 crore from ₹5.04 crore. Current trade payables rose to ₹178.79 crore from ₹151.80 crore, and the cash-flow statement shows that higher trade payables generated ₹25.13 crore of cash.
Overall working-capital movements used ₹15.38 crore of cash in the latest half year, compared with ₹18.50 crore in the corresponding 2025 half year. The cash use was lower despite the larger current-receivable balance because the ₹25.13 crore cash contribution from trade payables partly offset receivables, other-current-assets and loan-and-advance movements.
Did operations generate sufficient cash before financing?
Univastu India Ltd generated ₹11.65 crore of operating cash after net income-tax payments of ₹7.41 crore in the half year ended September 30, 2026. This was below the ₹12.34 crore operating inflow reported in the corresponding 2025 half year, although profit before tax rose to ₹34.03 crore from ₹12.87 crore.
Operating profit before working-capital changes was ₹34.44 crore, compared with ₹40.47 crore a year earlier. Working-capital changes reduced this amount by ₹15.38 crore, and tax payments reduced it by a further ₹7.41 crore. The resulting operating inflow was therefore smaller than the investing outflow of ₹50.90 crore.
Cash and cash equivalents in the cash-flow statement ended at ₹28.74 crore, up from ₹16.68 crore at the beginning of the year. The September 30 balance sheet separately shows ₹28.68 crore of cash and cash equivalents and ₹21.89 crore of bank balances not classified as cash equivalents, compared with ₹3.96 crore of those bank balances at March 31.
The September 2026 consolidated financial results were unaudited and subject to limited review, while the March 31, 2026 annual financial statements were audited. The Board approved the half-year results on November 5, 2026. The reviewer said nothing had come to its attention to indicate material misstatement or inadequate required disclosure in the consolidated statement.
Conclusion
Univastu India Ltd's September 2026 half-year cash flow shows that fixed-deposit placements, partnership investment and capital expenditure produced a ₹50.90 crore investing outflow that was not covered by the ₹11.65 crore operating inflow. Financing generated ₹51.31 crore, with higher working-capital borrowings of ₹33.18 crore accompanying a ₹29.45 crore rise in current trade receivables.
The next reporting periods will show whether current trade receivables of ₹110.08 crore convert into operating cash and whether the ₹60.64 crore current-borrowing balance changes. The filing also says Opal Luxury Time Products Ltd. handover formalities remain in process, with a ₹1.20 crore payment obligation when finalised, while the Setubandhan Infrastructure resolution plan has been submitted to the National Company Law Tribunal for consideration.
