Why did Vilas Transcore's September-half profit fall?
Vilas Transcore's profit fell because total expenses rose to Rs 223.77 crore in the half year ended September 30, 2026, from Rs 200.25 crore in the corresponding 2025 half, exceeding the Rs 14.90 crore increase in total income. Profit before tax therefore declined to Rs 23.14 crore from Rs 32.17 crore.
Total income reached Rs 246.92 crore in the September 2026 half, compared with Rs 232.02 crore a year earlier, including other income of Rs 4.44 crore against Rs 3.65 crore. Tax expense was Rs 5.91 crore, compared with Rs 7.79 crore, resulting in profit after tax of Rs 17.24 crore. Basic and diluted earnings per share were Rs 7.04, down from Rs 9.96.
The year-on-year decline contrasts with the immediately preceding half year ended March 2026. Revenue from operations increased from Rs 231.91 crore in the March 2026 half to Rs 242.48 crore in the September 2026 half, while profit after tax rose from Rs 15.18 crore to Rs 17.24 crore. The September result was consequently higher sequentially but lower than the September 2025 period.
