Muthoot Finance is India’s largest gold-financing NBFC, focused primarily on short-tenor loans secured by customer gold jewellery and supported by subsidiaries offering housing finance, microfinance, insurance broking and a Sri Lankan lending business.

The company delivered record scale and profits in 9M FY26: consolidated Loan AUM reached ₹1,647,198 million (48% YoY) and consolidated PAT rose 84% to ₹7,209 million, reflecting strong demand for collateralised credit and robust operational leverage in the gold-loan franchise.

Digital adoption is accelerating: the iMuthoot app has ~22.8 million downloads, 5.5 million registered users and contributed materially to collections and top-ups, supporting cheaper acquisition, faster TAT and cross-sell of unsecured and housing loans via digital channels.

Funding is broad and improving: diversified liability mix (bank borrowings 50%, listed NCDs 29%, ECBs 15%, commercial paper 5%), healthy liquidity (cash & equivalents ~₹138 billion consolidated) and capital adequacy ~20.3% provide headroom for measured leverage and continued AUM growth.

Regulatory and market tailwinds are supportive: RBI draft easing on branch opening and continued retail demand for secured credit signal opportunity to scale branches further, while strong domestic credit ratings (CRISIL/ICRA AA+) help in competitive access to wholesale funding.
