How much did DSS contribute to Astral in H1 FY27?
DSS contributed Rs 12.04 crore of standalone revenue and Rs 1.66 crore of standalone EBIDTA in H1 FY27, Astral said in its November 5, 2026 results release. The contribution covers the six months ended September 30, 2026, after the 60% partnership interest became effective on April 1, 2026.
Astral did not provide a comparable DSS figure for H1 FY26 because it added the business to its portfolio in FY27. The disclosure also does not state the purchase consideration, DSS sales volume, product-wise revenue mix or a separate consolidated financial contribution for the specialty-chemicals operation.
The reported Rs 12.04 crore and Rs 1.66 crore figures are on a standalone basis, while Astral's Paints and Adhesives financials are segment figures. As a result, the release does not establish how the standalone DSS results reconcile with the wider segment's reported revenue and EBIDTA.
What did Astral acquire in DSS?
Astral acquired a 60% partnership interest in Differentiated & Sustainable Solutions LLP, or DSS, effective April 1, 2026. The definitive agreements were dated June 11, 2026 and were entered into by Astral Chemie Limited, Astral's wholly owned subsidiary formerly known as Astral Coatings Private Limited.
The transaction expanded Astral into specialty chemicals in the first quarter (Q1) of FY27. Astral places DSS in its Paints and Adhesives vertical, which also includes the erstwhile Resinova business, Seal IT and Astral Chemie.
The April 1 effective date means the disclosed H1 FY27 performance covers the start of FY27, although the agreements were dated June 11, 2026. Astral did not identify the holder of the remaining 40% partnership interest or describe the specific products sold by DSS in the November 2026 release.
How did the Paints and Adhesives segment perform alongside DSS?
Astral's Paints and Adhesives segment recorded revenue of Rs 1117.50 crore in H1 FY27, up 29.0% from Rs 866.10 crore in H1 FY26, while segment EBIDTA fell 2.6% to Rs 90.40 crore. The segment includes DSS, but Astral did not disclose the amount of segment revenue or EBIDTA attributable to DSS beyond its standalone result.
In Q2 FY27, Paints and Adhesives revenue increased 28.6% to Rs 590 crore, while segment EBIDTA declined 19.2% to Rs 44.70 crore. The margin was 7.6%, compared with 12.1% in Q2 FY26, extending the lower first-half margin of 8.1% versus 10.7% a year earlier.
Astral attributed pressure in the broader Paints and Adhesives operations to higher raw-material prices, geopolitical pressure and a lag in price pass-through. It did not attribute those factors specifically to DSS or quantify their impact on the specialty-chemicals operation.

Which other Paints and Adhesives businesses grew in Q2 FY27?
Astral said its India adhesives business increased sales by 25.3% in Q2 FY27 and reported an EBIDTA margin of 10.9%. The company linked growth in its maintenance and New Bharat segments to new dealer and distribution additions, while it cited portfolio expansion and distribution growth for joinery products.
Overseas adhesives sales grew 30.1% in Q2 FY27 and recorded a positive EBIDTA margin of 6.3%, while H1 FY27 overseas revenue growth was 28.1%. Astral said the result exceeded its stated guidance of revenue growth above 10%, but the release did not provide the corresponding absolute overseas revenue figure.
Astral's paints business grew sales by 39.9% in Q2 FY27 and 44% in H1 FY27. The company said volatile raw-material prices and delayed cost pass-through affected paints margins, while Extura Vivid, an exterior emulsion launched in Q1 FY27, added to the portfolio.
What is Astral planning for DSS in FY28?
Astral is undertaking infrastructure upgrades and capacity enhancement at DSS that it says will support volume and product-portfolio expansion in FY28. The November 5, 2026 release did not quantify the planned capacity addition, capital expenditure, new products or expected revenue from the work.
Management linked the FY28 expansion plan to the first disclosed H1 FY27 contribution of Rs 12.04 crore in revenue. Its statement describes infrastructure and capacity measures currently under way rather than setting a sales, volume or margin target for DSS.
Astral also reported consolidated H1 FY27 revenue of Rs 3566.30 crore, up 21.4% from Rs 2938.60 crore in H1 FY26. Consolidated EBIDTA increased 11.7% to Rs 516.30 crore, while the margin declined to 14.5% from 15.7%, placing the specialty-chemicals addition within a larger portfolio where revenue growth exceeded EBIDTA growth.
Conclusion
Astral's first disclosed performance measure for DSS is Rs 12.04 crore of standalone H1 FY27 revenue and Rs 1.66 crore of standalone EBIDTA from a 60% interest effective April 1, 2026. The acquisition adds specialty chemicals to the Paints and Adhesives vertical, where H1 revenue rose 29.0% but segment EBIDTA fell 2.6% as the margin declined.
The next disclosed milestone is the FY28 plan for DSS, when Astral expects current infrastructure upgrades and capacity enhancement to support volume and portfolio expansion. The November 2026 release does not provide a capacity target, spending amount, completion date or DSS-specific financial forecast, leaving those details to later company disclosures.
