Why did Ganesh Consumer’s Q2 FY27 profit rise as income fell?
Ganesh Consumer’s Q2 FY27 profit rose because management cited a better product mix, the phasing of advertising expenditure and lower finance costs following deleveraging. Profit after tax, or PAT, increased to Rs 18.8 crore from Rs 11.1 crore in Q2 FY26, while PAT margin rose 358 basis points, or bps, to 8.2% from 4.6%.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, rose 23.6% to Rs 29.5 crore from Rs 23.9 crore, despite total income declining to Rs 228.5 crore from Rs 239.9 crore. EBITDA margin increased 302 bps to 13.0% from 10.0%. Ganesh Consumer defines EBITDA as restated profit before tax plus depreciation, amortisation and finance cost, less other income.
Management said advertising expenditure was phased during Q2 FY27 and is expected to increase over the rest of FY27. Lower finance costs after deleveraging also supported PAT, explaining why the 68.7% PAT increase exceeded EBITDA growth of 23.6%. The release did not disclose the advertising spend, debt reduction or finance-cost reduction.
How did Ganesh Consumer’s Q2 FY27 compare with Q1 and H1?
Ganesh Consumer’s Q2 FY27 performance improved sequentially from Q1 FY27, with total income up 20.0%, EBITDA up 40.5% and PAT up 49.9%. Total income increased from Rs 190.3 crore in Q1 FY27 to Rs 228.5 crore in Q2 FY27, while EBITDA rose from Rs 21 crore and PAT increased from Rs 12.5 crore.
Margins also improved quarter on quarter. EBITDA margin reached 13.0% in Q2 FY27 from 11.2% in Q1 FY27, while PAT margin rose to 8.2% from 6.6%. Basic and diluted earnings per share, or EPS, were Rs 4.70 in Q2 FY27, compared with Rs 3.14 in Q1 FY27 and Rs 3.04 in Q2 FY26.
For the six months ended September 30, 2026, H1 FY27 total income was Rs 418.8 crore, down 5.7% from Rs 444 crore in H1 FY26. However, H1 FY27 EBITDA rose 11.9% to Rs 50.6 crore and PAT increased 51.5% to Rs 31.3 crore. H1 EBITDA margin increased to 12.2% from 10.2%, while PAT margin rose to 7.5% from 4.7%.

Which businesses reduced Ganesh Consumer’s Q2 revenue?
Ganesh Consumer’s business-to-consumer, or B2C, revenue declined 2.5% year on year in Q2 FY27, with pressure concentrated in atta. Management said changes in state government policies led local millers that had previously undertaken state-government job work to increase atta distribution in the unorganised segment.
The company cited NielsenIQ data showing that West Bengal’s packaged atta category declined 6.3% year on year during Q2 FY27. Management described the pressure as temporary and said it expects volumes to normalise in the medium term. That view is management’s expectation, and the release did not provide a recovery timetable or volume target.
Excluding atta, B2C revenue grew 4.9% year on year and 26.0% sequentially in Q2 FY27. Business-to-business, or B2B, revenue fell 13.8% year on year, mainly because of lower service income and softer co-product volumes. The 4.8% decline in total income therefore reflected both atta-related consumer pressure and lower B2B activity.
Ganesh Consumer said its Sattu category grew with a directed campaign involving Ravindra Jadeja, while spices revenue grew and margins improved on stronger realisations. The company has extended targeted campaigns to spices and is expanding e-commerce in Bihar and Assam. It did not disclose revenue, volume or margin figures for Sattu, spices, e-commerce or its value-added portfolio.
What manufacturing and shareholder actions did Ganesh Consumer disclose?
Ganesh Consumer said it sold its Hyderabad plant and plans to redeploy the proceeds in eastern India, where its business is concentrated. The company did not disclose the sale value, buyer, transaction date, carrying value, gain or the amount to be invested from the proceeds.
Management also said it is working towards setting up plants in other eastern states to improve supply-chain efficiency. The plan accompanies a distribution network spanning more than 3.5 lakh retail outlets and a stated expansion focus in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Orissa, Bihar and Assam. The release gave no capital-expenditure amount, site, capacity or commissioning date for the proposed facilities.
The board declared an interim dividend of Rs 3.7 per share alongside the Q2 FY27 results released on November 2, 2026. For FY26, Ganesh Consumer reported total income of Rs 876.9 crore, EBITDA of Rs 85.6 crore and PAT of Rs 42.4 crore, with EBITDA and PAT margins of 9.8% and 4.8%, respectively.
Conclusion
Ganesh Consumer’s Q2 FY27 results show profit and margin expansion despite lower income. PAT rose 68.7% to Rs 18.8 crore and EBITDA margin increased 302 bps to 13.0%, while total income declined 4.8% to Rs 228.5 crore. Management attributed the divergence to product mix, advertising-spend timing and lower finance costs, while atta and B2B activity remained revenue pressures.
The next disclosures to watch are the planned increase in advertising spending through the remainder of FY27, the pace of any atta-volume normalisation after West Bengal packaged-category demand fell 6.3%, and deployment of Hyderabad plant-sale proceeds. Ganesh Consumer is also working towards plants in other eastern states, but has not disclosed investment amounts or commissioning schedules.
