How did Monarch's operating cash flow change?
Monarch's standalone operating cash flow moved from an Rs 37.7 crore outflow in FY26 to an Rs 46.9 crore inflow in H1 FY27 ended September 30, 2026. Cash generated from operations before direct taxes was Rs 50.4 crore, compared with Rs 25.6 crore used in operations during FY26, and direct taxes of Rs 3.5 crore reduced the H1 FY27 amount.
The disclosed change was principally in working capital rather than in the profit before working-capital changes. Standalone operating profit before working-capital changes was Rs 27.0 crore in H1 FY27, below Rs 53.6 crore for FY26, while working capital contributed Rs 23.4 crore after using Rs 79.2 crore in FY26 and Rs 37.2 crore in FY25. The presentation does not provide a cash-flow reconciliation for each current-asset and liability line.
Why did Monarch's cash balance fall despite operating inflows?
Monarch's standalone cash and cash equivalents fell Rs 13.6 crore during H1 FY27 to Rs 14.8 crore because its Rs 46.9 crore operating inflow did not cover Rs 55.5 crore of investing outflow and Rs 5.0 crore of financing outflow. Cash and cash equivalents had opened the period at Rs 28.4 crore, and the standalone balance sheet reports cash and bank balances of Rs 14.8 crore at September 30, 2026.
Investing outflow more than doubled from Rs 25.9 crore in FY26 and exceeded FY25's Rs 1.8 crore outflow. While the presentation does not allocate the H1 FY27 investing cash outflow by use, property, plant, equipment and intangible assets increased to Rs 58.6 crore from Rs 49.1 crore at March 31, 2026, and non-current investments rose to Rs 11.8 crore from nil.
What changed in Monarch's working capital and balance sheet?
Monarch's standalone trade receivables rose Rs 24.0 crore in six months to Rs 77.1 crore at September 30, 2026, from Rs 53.1 crore at March 31, 2026. Management said debtor days were 110 to 117 as of September 2026 and identified tighter milestone terms for new contracts and sharper collections as priorities.
Other current assets fell Rs 52.2 crore to Rs 32.0 crore from Rs 84.2 crore, while short-term loans and advances declined to Rs 0.7 crore from Rs 3.1 crore. Trade payables decreased to Rs 3.2 crore from Rs 11.8 crore, other current liabilities increased to Rs 12.4 crore from Rs 9.7 crore, and short-term provisions rose to Rs 3.1 crore from Rs 0.6 crore. These changes coincided with the positive working-capital movement, but Monarch does not state how much each balance-sheet item contributed.
Monarch's total standalone assets increased to Rs 282.7 crore from Rs 268.8 crore over the half year, while total equity rose to Rs 249.2 crore from Rs 231.1 crore. Long-term borrowings declined to Rs 6.4 crore from Rs 7.7 crore, while short-term borrowings increased to Rs 4.9 crore from Rs 4.7 crore. The presentation cites debt-to-equity of 0.14 as of September 2026 and describes technology investment without new debt as a priority.

How do Monarch's standalone and consolidated cash flows compare?
Monarch reported Rs 49.4 crore of consolidated net operating cash in H1 FY27, Rs 2.5 crore above the standalone Rs 46.9 crore. Consolidated cash generated from operations was Rs 52.9 crore and included a Rs 27.2 crore positive working-capital movement, compared with Rs 50.4 crore and Rs 23.4 crore respectively on a standalone basis; direct taxes were Rs 3.5 crore under both presentations.
The consolidated accounts include GMR Engineering, acquired in July 2026, according to the presentation. Consolidated profit before tax was Rs 21.2 crore against standalone profit before tax of Rs 22.5 crore, while consolidated operating profit before working-capital changes was Rs 25.7 crore against Rs 27.0 crore standalone. The higher consolidated operating cash was therefore associated with the larger reported working-capital contribution.
Consolidated investing cash outflow was Rs 56.8 crore, compared with Rs 55.5 crore standalone, and financing outflow was Rs 5.0 crore on both bases. Consolidated cash and cash equivalents decreased Rs 12.5 crore to Rs 15.9 crore from Rs 28.4 crore at the start of H1 FY27. The consolidated balance sheet reports Rs 16.0 crore of cash and bank balances at September 30, 2026.
Conclusion
Monarch's H1 FY27 disclosures show an operating-cash reversal driven by working capital: standalone net operating cash was Rs 46.9 crore after a Rs 37.7 crore outflow in FY26. However, the Rs 55.5 crore investing outflow and Rs 5.0 crore financing outflow exceeded the operating inflow, reducing standalone cash and cash equivalents to Rs 14.8 crore while receivables increased to Rs 77.1 crore.
The next item to watch is delivery and collections against Monarch's Rs 865 crore order book, which the presentation says is executable over the next 24 to 36 months as of September 30, 2026. Management's plan calls for identifying approval, land and subcontractor delays before billing milestones, tightening contract milestone terms where debtor days are 110 to 117, and sharpening collections alongside technology and talent investment.
