What were Optimystix's H1 FY27 earnings results?
Optimystix reported higher profits despite a marginal decline in H1 FY27 revenue. Revenue moved from Rs 72.2 crore in H1 FY26 to Rs 71.75 crore, while EBITDA, or earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, increased from Rs 14.9 crore to Rs 19.5 crore. PAT, or profit after tax, rose from Rs 11.6 crore to Rs 14.6 crore in the year-on-year comparison.
The latest half year also improved on H2 FY26. Revenue rose 14.2% from Rs 62.8 crore in H2 FY26 to Rs 71.75 crore in H1 FY27, EBITDA rose about 21% from Rs 16.2 crore, and PAT rose 17.6% from Rs 12.4 crore. This means H1 FY27 profit exceeded both the preceding half year and the comparable prior-year period.
Management also reported PAT margin of 20.3% in H1 FY27, compared with 19.8% in H2 FY26 and 16.1% in H1 FY26. Its presentation rounded the latest period to about Rs 72 crore of revenue, Rs 20 crore of EBITDA and Rs 15 crore of PAT, while the exchange-filed snapshot cited Rs 71.75 crore, Rs 19.5 crore and Rs 14.6 crore.
Why did Optimystix's EBITDA increase despite flat revenue?
Optimystix said revenue mix and largely unchanged salary and other operating costs drove the EBITDA increase to Rs 19.5 crore. Management said its mix spans television, films, over-the-top, or OTT, platforms and digital content, and that the mix delivered a better operating margin despite revenue of Rs 71.75 crore being slightly below H1 FY26.
Management did not disclose revenue or margins by television, film, OTT or digital segment. It said broadly flat operating expenditure helped EBITDA rise 30.7% and PAT rise 25.6%, indicating that the profit increase did not depend on year-on-year top-line growth.
The H1 performance follows growth in the annual figures presented during the call. Revenue rose from Rs 55 crore in FY24 to Rs 125 crore in FY25 and Rs 135 crore in FY26, while EBITDA increased from Rs 5 crore to Rs 24 crore and then Rs 31 crore. PAT rose from Rs 7 crore in FY24 to Rs 17 crore in FY25 and Rs 24 crore in FY26.
How does Optimystix earn revenue from its content businesses?
Optimystix describes television and OTT production as its cash engine, primarily using a cost-plus-margin or work-for-hire model. Broadcasters and platforms own the intellectual property, or IP, while Optimystix earns production margins from commissioned shows. Management said renewals and recommissions of successful properties have supported this business over about 25 years.
Films are Optimystix's value engine because the company says it co-owns IP while earning a producer fee. Management said a studio may receive 30%, 40% or 50% of IP in return for financing production, and it does not start a film until digital, broadcast and music rights cover 90% to 100% of production cost. Box-office receipts can then create upside beyond the producer fee.
Animation and digital originals are intended to become an owned-IP engine. Optimystix said it owns animation rights to Baalveer in perpetuity and has registered 30 to 35 original characters for an animated superhero universe. Management identified advertising, brand integration, licensing, merchandising and gaming as potential monetisation routes alongside YouTube and other platforms.

What is Optimystix planning for the next phase of growth?
Optimystix is targeting 30% to 35% year-on-year compound annual growth over the next three years, according to management. It did not provide an absolute FY27 revenue or PAT target during the call. For the balance of H2 FY27, management said it had confirmed visibility or signed understanding for about 60% to 62% of its internal revenue target.
Management said the pipeline includes shows already on air that may be repeated, alongside films, OTT projects and regional-language productions. Its regional strategy identifies Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi and Punjabi, while management specifically discussed partnerships for Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. It said the co-production and pre-sales model is intended to limit production risk.
Optimystix was targeting a mid- to end-January launch for its animation YouTube business. Management said it had tested a proprietary content platform using artificial intelligence with Google and Seed Dance for six to eight months. It said the technology can produce a 20- to 24-minute animation episode in six to seven hours at about one-tenth of traditional cost, compared with about three months to establish a character and world and two to three weeks for later episodes.
What should investors note about Optimystix's receivables and cash conversion?
Optimystix said consolidated receivables were about Rs 59 crore at September 30 and expected to be collected by December-end 2026. An analyst said receivables had risen 24% in six months to Rs 58.82 crore while revenue was flat. Management attributed the balance to billing-cycle timing and said its usual collection cycle is 90 to 120 days.
Management said cash-flow movement reflected increased debtors, lower creditors and advances to content creators for inventory. The chief financial officer said liabilities were decreasing as the company paid creditors, rather than increasing. Management also said it had no bad debts in its books over 25 years, but did not provide the requested ageing profile for amounts overdue beyond 180 days.
Conclusion
Optimystix's H1 FY27 figures show profit growth outpacing sales: EBITDA rose 30.7% to Rs 19.5 crore and PAT rose 25.6% to Rs 14.6 crore while revenue remained close to Rs 72 crore. Management linked the outcome to revenue mix and stable operating costs, alongside cost-plus television and OTT work and film IP participation.
The next results will indicate whether Optimystix converts its reported 60% to 62% H2 FY27 revenue visibility into delivered revenue and collects about Rs 59 crore of receivables by December-end 2026. Management's planned mid- to end-January animation YouTube launch is also a disclosed milestone in its move toward owned digital IP.
