When will PG Electroplast start compressor production at Supa?
PG Electroplast expects trial production at Supa by the end of November 2026 and mass production in January-February 2027. On the October 28, 2026 earnings call, management said machine installation was under way, with engineers from China assisting the installation process. This places the project’s commissioning phase in the current financial year.
PG Electroplast said the project was on track but did not provide a monthly production schedule or a date for full capacity utilisation. Management separately said its initial 2 million-unit compressor capacity should come online in the current financial year. Installed capacity and calendar 2027 production are different measures, as output is expected to rise gradually after mass production begins.
What compressor output does PG Electroplast target for 2027?
PG Electroplast targets more than 1.5 million compressors during calendar 2027. Management described this as a target set for the gradual first-year ramp, rather than as achieved production. The target follows planned mass production in January-February 2027 and depends on installation and trial production proceeding as scheduled.
The target is lower than the initial 2 million-unit capacity expected online in the current financial year. That comparison indicates that PG Electroplast does not expect the facility to operate at the stated capacity through all of calendar 2027. Management did not disclose expected utilisation, quarterly output, or the production level expected in the first months after commissioning.
How will PG Electroplast use Supa compressor capacity?
PG Electroplast expects to use a large part of Supa’s compressor capacity in-house, and management said this should be margin accretive. PG Electroplast did not disclose the percentage of the initial 2 million-unit capacity intended for internal consumption, nor did it provide a split between captive use and third-party sales.
PG Electroplast said it would share an earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, margin indication after production starts, probably by the end of the third quarter. The financial contribution is therefore unresolved during the commissioning stage. Management identified backward integration, research and development, new-product development and capability enhancement as priorities for the current financial year.
The in-house demand context includes PG Electroplast’s forecast to deliver about 2.1 million to 2.2 million room air conditioners in the current financial year, compared with 1.7 million in the prior year. Management said room air-conditioner volume growth was broadly flat year on year in the second quarter, but cited a strong second-half order book and projected full-year volume growth of close to 20%.

Will PG Electroplast add a second compressor line?
PG Electroplast may decide in April-May 2027 whether to add a second compressor line if the season develops well. Management did not say that the second line had been approved, ordered or funded. The stated timing makes the decision conditional on market conditions after the first line begins mass production in January-February 2027.
PG Electroplast has not disclosed the possible second line’s capacity, capital expenditure, construction timetable or mix of internal and external sales. The disclosed benchmarks therefore remain the initial 2 million-unit capacity and the calendar 2027 output target of more than 1.5 million compressors. Any additional line would be a later expansion decision, not part of the confirmed commissioning timetable.
Management said PG Electroplast’s priorities for 2027 and 2028 are to bring recently announced projects into operation and achieve the required profitability. These projects include the Supa compressor facility, the Sri City refrigerator facility and the Salarpur, Bhiwadi campus. Management said it does not intend to focus on substantial new growth avenues before scaling these projects.
What factors could affect PG Electroplast’s ramp-up?
PG Electroplast said higher commodity prices have raised working-capital needs even as it seeks to optimise inventory. Management cited a stronger order book in air conditioners, washing machines and electronics, alongside higher raw-material prices, as reasons for higher inventory. It said all capital expenditure had been paid off and hoped second-half interest cost would not rise significantly from the first half.
PG Electroplast expects manpower and other operating costs to increase as facilities ramp up. Management’s internal target is company-wide volume growth of about 20%-25%, while it expects costs to rise closer to volume growth than sales growth because commodity pass-through has contributed to sales growth. Management also expects second-half margins to be slightly better than the first half, citing seasonality, operating leverage and usual fourth-quarter production-linked incentive booking.
PG Electroplast is also scaling other manufacturing operations. Its flagship washing-machine facility in the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor at Greater Noida came online in the preceding quarter, while the Salarpur campus is operational and consolidating certain Greater Noida activities. The Sri City refrigerator facility is targeted to begin production in the last quarter of the current financial year, adding another project to the execution agenda.
Conclusion
PG Electroplast has set out a defined Supa compressor ramp: trial production by end-November 2026, mass production in January-February 2027 and output of more than 1.5 million compressors in calendar 2027. The target is below the initial 2 million-unit capacity expected online in the current financial year, consistent with management’s planned gradual ramp and substantial in-house use.
The next disclosed milestones are trial production by November 2026, the January-February 2027 mass-production start and management’s April-May 2027 assessment of a second line if the season develops well. Management also plans to disclose an EBITDA margin indication after production begins, which should clarify the project’s financial contribution.
