How did Vikran Engineering's operating cash flow change?
Vikran Engineering reported net cash generated from operating activities of Rs 258.59 crore for the half year ended 30 September 2026, compared with net cash used of Rs 166.58 crore in the half year ended 30 September 2025. Cash generated from operations before income taxes was Rs 264.18 crore, against cash used of Rs 148.40 crore in the prior-year period, while net income taxes paid fell to Rs 5.59 crore from Rs 18.09 crore.
The change was led by working-capital movements rather than an increase in operating profit before working-capital changes. Trade receivables generated a Rs 375.23 crore cash inflow in the 2026 half year, compared with a Rs 10.33 crore inflow a year earlier. This was partly offset by a Rs 141.85 crore decrease in trade payables, a Rs 33.44 crore increase in contract assets, a Rs 26.60 crore increase in inventories and a Rs 17.73 crore increase in other assets.
Operating profit before working-capital changes was Rs 55.44 crore, marginally below Rs 57.19 crore in the previous half year. The 2026 calculation included Rs 35.07 crore of finance costs, Rs 17.45 crore of interest income, a Rs 6.16 crore allowance for expected credit losses on trade receivables and a Rs 2.10 crore loss allowance on contract assets. Profit before tax rose to Rs 33.22 crore from Rs 17.18 crore.
Why did Vikran Engineering's cash balance decline?
Vikran Engineering's cash and cash equivalents declined by Rs 30.28 crore during the half year ended 30 September 2026, closing at Rs 2.08 crore compared with Rs 33.26 crore at the beginning of the period. In the comparable 2025 half year, cash increased by Rs 177.60 crore and ended at Rs 180.10 crore, supported by Rs 617.79 crore of financing inflows, including Rs 670.97 crore of net equity-share issue proceeds.
The 2026 investing outflow of Rs 492.18 crore exceeded the Rs 258.59 crore operating inflow and the Rs 203.31 crore financing inflow. Loans given totalled Rs 511.63 crore, while purchases of property, plant, equipment and intangible assets used Rs 1.63 crore. The investing cash use was partly offset by Rs 13.13 crore released from fixed deposits and Rs 6.99 crore of interest received on fixed deposits.
Vikran Engineering prepared the standalone cash-flow statement using the indirect method under Indian Accounting Standard 7, Statement of Cash Flows. It also reported no restricted balances within cash and cash equivalents as at 30 September 2026, meaning the reported Rs 2.08 crore balance was not identified as restricted in the filing.

Where did Vikran Engineering deploy loans and investments?
Vikran Engineering disclosed that it provided an unsecured loan to NOPL Solar Projects Private Limited for the construction and development of a solar-power project. During the half year, Rs 51.70 crore of security deposits were converted into loans as a non-cash transaction, while Rs 10 crore of loans were converted into an investment in equity shares of a subsidiary.
Vikran Engineering acquired 49% of NOPL Solar Projects for Rs 4.90 crore under a share-purchase agreement dated 27 April 2026. It acquired the remaining 51% for Rs 5.10 crore under an agreement dated 20 May 2026, making NOPL Solar Projects a wholly owned subsidiary from that date. Management said the acquisition aligned with its long-term strategy to establish and expand its presence in renewable-energy generation.
The standalone balance sheet recorded non-current loans of Rs 513.12 crore at 30 September 2026, compared with no corresponding balance shown at 31 March 2026. Borrowings also increased: non-current borrowings rose to Rs 150.74 crore from Rs 45.84 crore, while current borrowings rose to Rs 385.58 crore from Rs 246.43 crore. Total borrowings therefore increased to Rs 536.32 crore from Rs 292.27 crore over the six months.
What balance-sheet movements accompanied Vikran Engineering's cash flows?
Vikran Engineering's total assets increased to Rs 2,677.68 crore at 30 September 2026 from Rs 2,503.51 crore at 31 March 2026. Current trade receivables fell to Rs 634.57 crore from Rs 1,013.07 crore, consistent with the Rs 375.23 crore receivables-related operating cash inflow. Contract assets increased to Rs 895.28 crore from Rs 863.94 crore, while inventories rose to Rs 105.76 crore from Rs 79.02 crore.
Total equity rose to Rs 1,256.78 crore from Rs 1,237.37 crore, and total current liabilities increased to Rs 1,260.69 crore from Rs 1,208.50 crore. The standalone results include Rs 26.36 crore due from a customer within non-current trade receivables, net of a Rs 2.93 crore loss allowance. The project was short-closed in April 2023 after the customer invoked performance and advance guarantees. Management considers the amount recoverable based on its contractual claim and legal opinion, while the recovery matter remains pending before the Commercial Court in Jaipur.
What did the auditor review of Vikran Engineering's results say?
Walker Chandiok & Co LLP issued a limited-review conclusion on Vikran Engineering's standalone unaudited results for the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026. The auditor stated that nothing had come to its attention to indicate that the results were not prepared in accordance with the applicable accounting and disclosure requirements, but a review is narrower in scope than an audit.
The auditor drew attention to the Rs 26.36 crore customer receivable under litigation and noted that management had made no adjustment to the standalone results. Its conclusion was not modified in respect of that matter. Vikran Engineering's audit committee and board approved the unaudited standalone results on 5 November 2026.
Conclusion
Vikran Engineering's first-half cash flow reflects a substantial release from receivables and a reversal in operating cash generation, while lending and investing absorbed more cash than operations and financing provided. The balance-sheet data also show that the expansion in non-current loans occurred alongside a Rs 244.05 crore increase in total borrowings between 31 March and 30 September 2026.
The next disclosed event is the 10 December 2026 hearing at the Commercial Court in Jaipur concerning the Rs 26.36 crore customer receivable. Vikran Engineering has also said NOPL Solar Projects is intended to support its renewable-energy-generation strategy, making the development of its solar project and related unsecured loan a disclosed matter to watch.
