Vikran Engineering Limited began separately reporting power generation and supply in the quarter ended 30 September 2026 after acquiring 100% of NOPL Solar Projects Private Limited for Rs 10 crore. NOPL became a wholly owned subsidiary on 20 May 2026, bringing renewable-energy generation alongside Vikran Engineering’s engineering, procurement and construction services.

Why did Vikran Engineering start reporting power generation separately?
Vikran Engineering started separate reporting because the Group commenced its power generation and supply business during the quarter ended 30 September 2026. The filing identifies engineering, procurement and construction, or EPC, services and power generation and supply as the two reportable segments reviewed by the Chief Operating Decision Maker, or CODM.
The Group presented segment information for the first time for the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026. Preceding-period segment figures relate solely to EPC services, so the filing does not provide a directly comparable historical revenue or profit measure for the new power-generation segment. Vikran Engineering also states that quarterly revenue, costs and profits can vary with progress on individual projects.
The CODM does not review assets, liabilities or finance costs separately for each operating segment. Consequently, Vikran Engineering has not disclosed those measures by EPC and power generation. Employee benefits, depreciation and amortisation, and other expenses that cannot be allocated between the two businesses are shown as other unallocable expenses.
The consolidated results were approved by the board on 5 November 2026 and were subject to a limited review by the statutory auditors. The auditors said nothing had come to their attention to suggest that the consolidated statement did not make required disclosures or contained a material misstatement, while noting that a review is narrower in scope than an audit.
How did Vikran Engineering obtain full ownership of NOPL?
Vikran Engineering obtained full ownership of NOPL through two share-purchase agreements signed in April and May 2026. It acquired a 49% equity stake for Rs 4.90 crore under an agreement dated 27 April 2026, at which point NOPL became an associate of the Group.
Vikran Engineering then acquired the remaining 51% stake for Rs 5.10 crore under an agreement dated 20 May 2026. The second purchase gave the Group control and made NOPL a wholly owned subsidiary from that date. Total disclosed consideration for 100% ownership was Rs 10 crore.
Before control was obtained, Vikran Engineering recorded its share of NOPL’s profit or loss under the equity method prescribed by Indian Accounting Standard, or Ind AS, 28. After 20 May 2026, it consolidated NOPL as a subsidiary and accounted for the acquisition as a business combination under Ind AS 103.
The Group said the fair values of identifiable assets and liabilities acquired, including the valuation of its previously held 49% interest, were recognised provisionally at 30 September 2026. Management described the acquisition as aligned with its long-term strategy to establish and expand its presence in renewable-energy generation.
What changed in Vikran Engineering’s consolidated assets after NOPL joined?
Vikran Engineering’s non-current assets rose to Rs 1,114.52 crore at 30 September 2026 from Rs 109.05 crore at 31 March 2026. Property, plant and equipment increased to Rs 188.12 crore from Rs 10.84 crore, while capital work-in-progress was Rs 739.93 crore compared with nil at the March year-end.
The Group also reported Rs 9.74 crore of goodwill on consolidation at 30 September 2026, against nil at 31 March 2026. The filing links this item to the NOPL business combination, although the related fair-value exercise remains provisional under Ind AS 103.
Total assets rose Rs 204.08 crore to Rs 2,707.59 crore, but current assets declined Rs 801.41 crore to Rs 1,593.07 crore. Contract assets fell to Rs 560.37 crore from Rs 863.94 crore over the same six-month period, partly offsetting the increase in long-term operating assets.
The consolidated cash-flow statement reported Rs 807.03 crore of payments for property, plant, equipment and intangible assets, including work-in-progress and capital advances, in the half year ended 30 September 2026. That compared with Rs 65 lakh in the half year ended 30 September 2025. The filing does not allocate these payments between EPC services and power generation.

How is Vikran Engineering funding the solar-project development?
Vikran Engineering disclosed that it provided NOPL an unsecured loan during the current period for construction and development of its solar power project. The note does not state the amount of that loan, so it does not establish the portion of project funding supplied by the Group versus other funding sources.
The consolidated cash-flow note reports that loans and security deposits totalling Rs 112.13 crore were outstanding at 31 March 2026 with an entity that became a subsidiary during the half year. Those balances were eliminated on consolidation as a non-cash movement. The note does not name the entity, so it does not directly identify this amount as funding to NOPL.
Non-current borrowings increased to Rs 150.74 crore at 30 September 2026 from Rs 45.84 crore at 31 March 2026. Non-current lease liabilities increased to Rs 64.97 crore from Rs 6.86 crore, while current borrowings rose to Rs 385.58 crore from Rs 246.43 crore.
Operating cash flow was an inflow of Rs 559.28 crore in the half year ended 30 September 2026, compared with an outflow of Rs 166.58 crore in the corresponding prior-year half. Investing cash outflow increased to Rs 786.91 crore from Rs 333.61 crore, while financing cash inflow was Rs 197.72 crore against Rs 677.79 crore a year earlier.
What comparability and reporting limits should readers note?
Vikran Engineering says project progress does not follow a uniform timeline, which can cause revenue, costs and profits to vary widely between quarters. The company therefore cautions that quarterly results may not be directly comparable and should be viewed with its project pipeline and execution strategy.
There is a further limitation in the consolidated comparison. Vikran Engineering first prepared consolidated results for the quarter and year ended 31 March 2026 after incorporating a subsidiary in that quarter. The Group says earlier consolidated figures represent the holding company’s standalone results and may not be strictly comparable with the current consolidated period.
The auditors also drew attention to Rs 26.36 crore of non-current trade receivables related to contractual work on a project short-closed in April 2023. Vikran Engineering has filed a recovery claim in the Commercial Court, Jaipur, and the next hearing was scheduled for 10 December 2026. Management considers the balance recoverable based on contractual tenability and legal opinion, and no adjustment was made at 30 September 2026.
NOPL had total assets of Rs 702.87 crore, revenue of Rs 4.66 crore and profit after tax of Rs 6 lakh for both the quarter and half year ended 30 September 2026, before consolidation adjustments, according to the auditors’ report. Those figures are from the subsidiary’s reviewed interim information and provide a limited view of the newly consolidated business rather than a segment-level profitability disclosure.
Conclusion
Vikran Engineering’s separate segment reporting marks its first disclosed operating classification beyond EPC services. The change followed the Rs 10 crore two-stage acquisition of NOPL, which became a subsidiary on 20 May 2026, and occurred alongside Rs 739.93 crore of capital work-in-progress, Rs 188.12 crore of property, plant and equipment and Rs 807.03 crore of half-year capital and asset payments.
Readers should watch for disclosures on NOPL’s solar-project construction and for finalisation of the provisional purchase-price accounting under Ind AS 103. The filing also identifies the 10 December 2026 Jaipur court hearing on the Rs 26.36 crore receivable, while Vikran Engineering says future quarterly results will continue to depend on project execution timing.
