What drove Zydus North America growth during the quarter?
Zydus attributed Q2 FY27 North America growth to volume expansion, new launches, and its branded and specialty portfolio. In US generics, the company said the base business continued to gain market share through sustained volume expansion and new product launches.
Zydus launched five new products during Q2 FY27 and also disclosed the October 2026 launch of the first generic version of Riociguat tablets. The presentation does not quantify sales from Riociguat, the five launches, or the base generics business within the $347 million regional total.
US Specialty delivered strong sequential growth in Q2 FY27, according to Zydus. The company attributed this to Rolvedon and continued momentum in its 505(b)(2) portfolio, but did not disclose specialty sales or the contribution of either product group.
North America’s 7.0% sequential growth was faster than India formulations’ 3.8% and international markets formulations’ 2.8% in Q2 FY27. For H1 FY27, Zydus reported nine ANDA filings and 22 approvals, including seven tentative approvals. Q2 therefore accounted for four of the nine filings and 12 of the 22 approvals disclosed for the first half.

What does specialty development add to Zydus North America plans?
Zydus disclosed that the US Food and Drug Administration accepted for review the biologics license application for Pembrolizumab biosimilar FYB206, developed by partner Formycon AG. Zydus described FYB206 as the first publicly announced Keytruda biosimilar filing accepted for review in the US.
The review acceptance is a regulatory milestone, not an approval or a reported sale. Zydus provided no expected decision date, launch date, revenue forecast, ownership economics or stated commercial role for FYB206, leaving its potential contribution to North America formulations unquantified.
Zydus also reported that Sentryl Therapeutics entered a licensing agreement with Mereo BioPharma for Alvelestat. The asset is being prepared for Phase III development in Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency-associated Lung Disease, and the presentation provides no near-term North America sales estimate for it.
Organic capital expenditure was Rs 465.5 crore in Q2 FY27, down from Rs 587.5 crore in Q1 FY27 and Rs 491.1 crore in Q2 FY26. Net debt to EBITDA, or earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, was 0.62 times in Q2 FY27 compared with 0.68 times in Q1 FY27, though Zydus did not link either measure specifically to North America investment.
Conclusion
Zydus’s North America business produced $347 million of formulations sales in Q2 FY27 and supplied 43% of company revenue. The reported 20.8% year-on-year and 7.0% sequential growth combined higher base-generics volumes, five new US launches and specialty momentum, making North America the company’s largest disclosed revenue segment by contribution.
Next, Zydus’s execution on nine ANDA filings and 22 approvals in H1 FY27, including seven tentative approvals, is a disclosed pipeline indicator to watch. Progress on the FYB206 biologics license application under US review and commercial traction from the October 2026 Riociguat generic launch are also relevant, although the company gave no sales targets or regulatory decision dates for these items.
