What market share does BMW Ventures report in Bihar?
BMW Ventures reports that it held 33% of Bihar’s TMT bar retail market in FY26, with other players accounting for 67%. In the same FY26 market-segmentation data, BMW Ventures places its hot-rolled, or HR, sheet share at 30%, compared with 70% for other players. The presentation labels these markets in million tonnes per annum, or MTPA, but does not disclose the underlying market volumes.
BMW Ventures reports 50% shares in both Bihar’s GP sheet and GC, or galvanised corrugated, sheet markets in FY26, leaving 50% for other players in each category. Its reported share is therefore higher in those two sheet categories than in TMT bars at 33% or HR sheets at 30%.
The GP and GC figures apply to individual product categories rather than the entire flat-steel business. BMW Ventures’ flat-products mix also includes HR sheets, colour-coated sheets, cold-rolled sheets and structural products, so the 50% figures should not be treated as a share of all flat products.
How extensive is BMW Ventures’ dealer and logistics network?
BMW Ventures says it has 1,380 dealers across Bihar and reaches 29 of the state’s 38 districts. The company describes this network as the channel supporting its regional distribution position; a separate presentation page refers to a diversified network of more than 1,000 dealers and says it limits dependence on any single client.
BMW Ventures operates four facilities with combined storage capacity of 88,000 metric tonnes, or MT, and dispatch capacity of 3,950 MT per day. Mosimpur in Fatuha, Patna, has 35,000 MT of storage and 1,350 MT of daily dispatch capacity, while Purnea has 20,000 MT of storage and 1,200 MT daily dispatch capacity.
The Purnea facility also houses pre-engineered building, or PEB, fabrication and an RDSO-approved railway-girder fabrication plant. The other sites are Baikathpur, with 10,000 MT of storage and 400 MT daily dispatch capacity, and Govindpur, with 20,000 MT and 1,000 MT respectively; the presentation does not disclose utilisation rates for the four sites.

Which products drove BMW Ventures’ Q2 FY27 distribution revenue?
BMW Ventures’ long-products revenue rose 49% year on year to Rs 517.1 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 348.1 crore in Q2 FY26, while volume increased 21%. TMT bars represented 98% of the stated long-products revenue mix and galvanised wires represented 2%, making TMT distribution the main disclosed revenue component of this vertical.
BMW Ventures’ flat-products revenue increased 38% to Rs 184.5 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 133.5 crore a year earlier, while volume grew 25%. GC sheets were 28% of the flat-products mix, GP sheets 21%, HR sheets 15%, colour-coated sheets 11%, cold-rolled sheets 5% and structural products 20%.
Long products grew faster by value, at 49% against 38% for flat products, while flat-products volume grew faster, at 25% against 21%. BMW Ventures sold 108,617 tonnes across its business in Q2 FY27, and the presentation notes that the two distribution verticals exclude fabrication and other miscellaneous products from their revenue totals.
How is BMW Ventures building its fabrication business?
BMW Ventures has installed fabrication capacity of 24,000 MT and 88,280 square feet of dedicated fabrication area, with operations commencing in November 2022. Management presents an indicative earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, margin profile of 9% to 11% for fabrication, which includes PEBs and steel girders.
Fabrication revenue increased to Rs 17.1 crore in H1 FY27 from Rs 8.5 crore in H1 FY26. PEB revenue rose to Rs 16.5 crore from Rs 6.9 crore, while steel-girder revenue fell to Rs 0.6 crore from Rs 1.6 crore, indicating that PEB activity accounted for the reported increase.
The fabrication order book was Rs 76.5 crore on 1 October 2026, down from Rs 88.4 crore on 1 April 2026. PEB orders declined to Rs 50.8 crore from Rs 68.2 crore, while steel-girder orders increased to Rs 25.7 crore from Rs 20.2 crore.
Management says fabrication is expected to become a significant EBITDA contributor in FY27 and targets it to provide 5% of revenue and 10% of total EBITDA by H1 FY28. Those figures are management targets rather than reported results, and the presentation does not provide a fabrication-capacity utilisation rate.
Conclusion
BMW Ventures presents its Bihar market position as led by a 33% FY26 TMT share and 50% shares in GP and GC sheets. Its 1,380 dealers, coverage of 29 districts, 88,000 MT of storage capacity and 3,950 MT of daily dispatch capacity are the disclosed distribution infrastructure behind that position, while Q2 FY27 revenue increased in both long and flat products.
The next measures to watch are management’s targets of more than 15% year-on-year revenue growth and 20% to 25% or more net-profit growth in upcoming quarters, along with its expectation that cash conversion cycle and inventory days will decline by year-end. Execution against the H1 FY28 fabrication targets, the planned Kolkata and Patna offices, and land-use decisions in Purnea and near Calcutta remain disclosed milestones.
