How will TI invest Rs 22 crore in Bodega?
TI will invest Rs 22 crore in two stages: Rs 6 crore in the first tranche and Rs 16 crore in a second tranche due on or before 12 months from the first investment. The presentation does not disclose the date of the first tranche, the transaction valuation or any governance rights connected with the investment.
The 30% ownership is stated on a fully diluted basis after the second tranche, meaning the disclosed stake outcome follows completion of both payments. TI’s transaction slide identifies the investment as being in Bodega, while management describes Black Tiger Distilleries as the maker of Bodega Suprema No. 5; the presentation gives no further corporate-structure detail.
The staged structure makes the first payment Rs 6 crore and the later payment Rs 16 crore, with the latter accounting for the larger part of the stated commitment. TI has not disclosed conditions attached to the second tranche, ownership before that payment or a separate financial forecast for Bodega.
What Bodega tequila products are included in TI’s investment?
TI will be associated with a three-product Bodega range of Blanco, Reposado and Añejo, all listed in 750 millilitre bottles for Maharashtra. The stated prices are Rs 4,200 for Blanco, Rs 4,500 for Reposado and Rs 5,500 for Añejo, creating a Rs 1,300 range from the lowest to highest priced expression.
Blanco is described with fresh agave, mint, caramel, roasted pumpkin and cashew notes. Reposado carries vanilla, caramel, peach, candied orange and oak spice notes, while Añejo is described with vanilla, golden apple, apricot, citrus and oak.
The price difference is Rs 300 between Blanco and Reposado, and Rs 1,000 between Reposado and Añejo. TI says Bodega is a 100% Blue Weber Agave Tequila that addresses a gap at an accessible premium price point, but it provides no prices, availability dates or distribution markets beyond Maharashtra.

Why is TI entering tequila now?
TI says India’s tequila market grew at about a 60% compound annual growth rate, or CAGR, between 2020 and 2025, which it identifies as the reason for entering a high-growth category. The presentation does not provide TI’s own tequila volume, revenue or market-share forecast.
The investment broadens a portfolio that TI described as brandy-first and regionally concentrated in Southern India two years earlier. That earlier portfolio had more than 90% volume saliency from brandy and more than 85% from Southern India, whereas TI’s stated direction is to become a pan-India and pan-category player.
Tequila is one of three strategic-investment themes listed by TI, alongside craft spirits through Spaceman Spirits and disruptive categories through Round The Cocktails. The same portfolio strategy includes Monarch Legacy Edition Brandy and Seven Islands Pure Malt Whisky, positioning Bodega within a wider premium and niche-category expansion.
TI also reports that, after the Imperial Blue business acquisition, whisky accounts for more than 65% of combined-business volume saliency and brandy for more than 30%, based on the last 12 months ended March 2026. Tequila is therefore presented as a new category entry rather than a disclosed material volume contributor.
How will TI support Bodega across the value chain?
TI says Bodega partners across the value chain with Productos Finos De Agave as tequila manufacturer and Mansha Group as an alcobev distributor. The presentation does not specify geographic rights, supply volumes, exclusivity arrangements or the commercial responsibilities of either partner.
Chief Strategy Officer Ameya Deshpande said TI’s strategic-investment approach is opportunity-led and disciplined, with capital allocated according to strategic attractiveness and long-term profitability. He said TI assesses brands and businesses for consumer propositions, differentiated liquid, growth potential and the ability to scale through its distribution and operating platform.
TI separately says its Imperial Blue distribution network will support House of TI premium-range launches in more markets in financial year 2027. House of TI is currently listed in Maharashtra, Kerala, Puducherry, Karnataka, Odisha, West Bengal, Goa, Meghalaya and Assam, but TI does not explicitly state that Bodega will use this network or enter those markets.
For its combined business, TI identifies FY27 as an integration and consolidation phase with high-single-digit to low-double-digit volume growth from current brands. Management targets mid-teens volume growth in FY28 to FY30 and an earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation margin of 16% to 18% by FY29, without giving a Bodega-specific target.
Conclusion
TI’s proposed Rs 22 crore investment gives it a defined tequila position through a 30% fully diluted Bodega stake after the second tranche. The transaction adds a three-product, Maharashtra-priced range to a portfolio moving from historic brandy and Southern India concentration toward whisky, premium launches and new categories.
The next disclosed transaction milestone is the Rs 16 crore second tranche, due on or before 12 months after the first Rs 6 crore payment. Other disclosed developments to watch are TI’s planned FY27 premium-market launches through the Imperial Blue distribution network and management’s FY29 target for a 16% to 18% combined-business EBITDA margin.
