Why did Glass Wall Systems' H1 EBITDA margin rise?
Glass Wall Systems said escalation claims on receivables were the primary reason its H1FY27 EBITDA margin rose to 25.3% from 23.9% a year earlier. Management said these claims produced a significant margin increase because the related expenses had already been incurred. The reported margin improvement was therefore linked principally to recognition of those claims, rather than being described solely as a change in current-period operating costs.
The income statement shows that gross profit rose 36.9% year on year to Rs 145.3 crore in H1FY27, faster than the 15.8% increase in revenue from operations to Rs 238.9 crore. Gross profit margin consequently increased to 60.8% from 51.4%. Employee cost increased to Rs 22.6 crore from Rs 17.8 crore, while other expenses rose to Rs 62.2 crore from Rs 38.9 crore, leaving EBITDA up by Rs 11.1 crore at Rs 60.5 crore.
How did Glass Wall Systems' H1 profit compare with last year?
Glass Wall Systems grew H1FY27 profit after tax by 13.2% to Rs 45.9 crore, although its profit-after-tax margin declined to 19.2% from 19.6% in H1FY26. The movement differed from EBITDA margin, which increased from 23.9% to 25.3%, as depreciation rose to Rs 3.2 crore from Rs 1.8 crore and other income declined to Rs 4.9 crore from Rs 7.5 crore.
Earnings before interest and tax, or EBIT, increased 12.9% to Rs 62.2 crore, while its margin fell to 26.0% from 26.7%. Finance cost declined to Rs 1.4 crore from Rs 1.6 crore, and profit before tax grew 13.7% to Rs 60.8 crore. Tax rose to Rs 14.9 crore from Rs 12.9 crore, while earnings per share increased to Rs 5.40 from Rs 4.79.
The second quarter, Q2FY27, showed a sharper reported margin movement than the half year. Q2FY27 EBITDA was Rs 37.5 crore, up 32.3% from Rs 28.4 crore in Q2FY26, and the margin was 28.5% compared with 22.3%. Q2FY27 profit after tax rose 31.2% to Rs 28.6 crore and the associated margin increased to 21.8% from 17.1%.
Which Glass Wall Systems segments drove H1FY27 revenue?
Glass Wall Systems' Domestic Façade business was the main disclosed growth contributor in H1FY27, rising 33% year on year to Rs 140 crore. Fenestration revenue grew 82% to Rs 22 crore, while International Façade revenue declined 14% to Rs 76 crore. Domestic Façade and Fenestration growth more than offset the reported contraction in International Façade activity.
Management attributed the Domestic Façade performance to increased traction across sectors and sustained demand. It said International Façade is project-driven, so execution and revenue recognition can vary between quarters, and it considers the business better assessed over a full financial year. In Q2FY27, Domestic Façade rose 7% to Rs 78 crore, International Façade fell 16% to Rs 37 crore, and Fenestration increased 69% to Rs 16 crore.
As of 30 September 2026, Glass Wall Systems had an order book of Rs 957 crore. Management said this provided revenue visibility and identified opportunities in domestic façade projects, international façade product supply and premium fenestration. Those statements describe the pipeline at that date rather than a disclosed revenue forecast by segment.

How did export freight affect Glass Wall Systems' reported margin?
Glass Wall Systems said a revised commercial agreement changed the presentation of export freight in H1FY27: the company pays the cost and subsequently recovers it from customers. In H1FY26, customers bore export freight directly. Consequently, the H1FY27 arrangement records freight in both revenue and other expenses, affecting reported revenue and the ratio calculated against it.
Management said that removing Rs 14 crore of export freight from both H1FY27 revenue and other expenses would produce an EBITDA margin of 26.9%, compared with the reported 25.3%. The adjustment does not alter reported H1FY27 EBITDA of Rs 60.5 crore because an equal amount is removed from revenue and expense. It changes the revenue denominator used for the margin calculation.
The same mechanism applied in Q2FY27, when management identified Rs 9 crore of freight. Excluding that amount from Q2FY27 revenue and other expenses would result in a 30.6% EBITDA margin, versus the reported 28.5%. This presentation issue is separate from management's statement that escalation claims on receivables primarily drove the period's margin expansion.
What do Glass Wall Systems' balance sheet and cash flow show?
Glass Wall Systems reported total assets of Rs 618.2 crore at September 2026, compared with Rs 468.4 crore at March 2026. Current assets increased to Rs 447.7 crore from Rs 314.6 crore, including Rs 99.1 crore of bank balances other than cash and cash equivalents, compared with Rs 53.4 crore. Trade receivables were Rs 102 crore at September 2026, down from Rs 109 crore at March 2026.
Cash flow from operating activities was broadly unchanged at Rs 58.4 crore for the period ended September 2026, versus Rs 58.5 crore a year earlier. Cash generated from operations rose to Rs 75.8 crore from Rs 66.2 crore, but direct taxes paid increased to Rs 17.4 crore from Rs 7.7 crore. Net investing cash outflow was Rs 105.2 crore, compared with Rs 33.7 crore, while financing activities generated Rs 49.3 crore versus an outflow of Rs 2.5 crore.
Conclusion
Glass Wall Systems' H1FY27 results combined 15.8% revenue growth, 22.4% EBITDA growth and a 25.3% reported EBITDA margin. Domestic Façade revenue of Rs 140 crore and Fenestration revenue of Rs 22 crore increased, while International Façade revenue declined to Rs 76 crore. The company specifically attributed margin expansion primarily to escalation claims for expenses already incurred, while the revised freight arrangement also affected the reported margin denominator.
The next disclosed milestones are execution against the Rs 957 crore order book at 30 September 2026 and commissioning of the in-house Glass Processing Unit at Vile Bhagad, expected by August 2027. Management expects the facility to improve EBITDA margin by about 100 to 150 basis points over time and said FY27 revenue should grow significantly over FY26, with EBITDA margins broadly in line with the previous financial year.
