How is Gujarat Kidney expanding its hospital network?
Gujarat Kidney is expanding through leased hospitals, majority-owned facilities and selective acquisitions rather than relying solely on greenfield projects. Its two leased facilities are Gujarat Kidney & Super Speciality Hospital in Vadodara and Gujarat Multispeciality Hospital in Godhra, while the controlled-facility model covers stakes of 51% to 90% in established hospitals.
The approach follows expansion since the first Gujarat Kidney Hospital opened in Vadodara in 2014. That hospital moved from 15 beds to 100 beds in 2018, Gujarat Kidney opened a second hospital in Godhra in 2023, and it acquired a majority stake in Raj Palmland Hospital in 2024 alongside 90% holdings in Surya Hospital & ICU and Gujarat Surgical Hospital.
The hospital list contains 11 facilities and clinic platforms, including Blue Tree Clinics. Gujarat Kidney holds 100% stakes in Parekh Hospital, Ashwini Medical Centre, Gujarat Kidney & Superspeciality Hospital, Gujarat Multispeciality Hospital, Apex 1 and Apex 2; 90% stakes in Surya Hospital and Gujarat Surgical Hospital; and 51% stakes in Raj Palmland Hospital, Patel Multispeciality Hospital and Blue Tree Clinics.
What does Blue Tree Clinics add to Gujarat Kidney?
Blue Tree Clinics gives Gujarat Kidney a majority-owned Dubai polyclinic and an established revenue base of Rs 20-25 crore for January 2026 to June 2026. The presentation separately reports revenue of AED 5.1 million for that period, while stating that the remaining 49% stake is in the process of being acquired.
The clinic lists chiropractic, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, plastic surgery and aesthetics surgery. This differs from Gujarat Kidney’s stated core strength in renal sciences and urology, although its domestic tertiary-care offering also includes cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general surgery.
Management’s stated pathway is Dubai presence, medical tourism and then the Gujarat Kidney specialist network. The presentation frames this as an opportunity for international-patient access and referrals, not as disclosed referral volumes, future Dubai revenue or a timetable for buying the residual 49% holding.
Why does Gujarat Kidney use leased and controlled facilities?
Gujarat Kidney uses leased and controlled facilities to extend its reach without relying only on new-build hospitals. The presentation describes the model as asset-light and says the company had a presence in four cities in central Gujarat, where it focuses on local accessibility and regional healthcare delivery.
The balance sheet shows the accounting impact of leased operations. Right-of-use assets were Rs 10.10 crore at September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 10.81 crore at March 31, 2026 and Rs 4.11 crore at March 31, 2025; non-current lease liabilities were Rs 12.05 crore and current lease liabilities were Rs 92 lakh at September 30, 2026.
Goodwill increased by Rs 16.69 crore between March 31, 2026 and September 30, 2026, after rising from Rs 7.13 crore at March 31, 2025 to Rs 90.73 crore a year later. The presentation does not allocate goodwill to individual acquisitions, while investments stood at Rs 12 crore at September 30, 2026.

Is Gujarat Kidney’s network producing more patient activity?
Gujarat Kidney reported H1 FY27 outpatient department, or OPD, revenue of Rs 15.55 crore, exceeding the Rs 11.79 crore recorded for all of FY26. OPD volume was 78,643 in H1 FY27, compared with 95,876 in FY26, so the presentation shows a higher six-month revenue figure despite a lower reported patient count than the preceding full year.
Inpatient department, or IPD, revenue was Rs 61.08 crore in H1 FY27, against Rs 47.53 crore in FY26, while IPD volume was 11,040 versus 13,281. Bed days occupied reached 66,240 in H1 FY27, equal to about 83% of FY26’s 79,686, and the average bed-day occupancy rate was 55%, compared with 56% in FY26.
Average revenue per occupied bed day declined to Rs 9,221 in H1 FY27 from Rs 10,255 in FY26, while average length of stay remained 6.00 days in every reported period from FY24 through H1 FY27. These network-level measures do not identify the contributions of individual acquired hospitals or Blue Tree Clinics.
What specialist services could Dubai referrals access?
Dubai-sourced patients could potentially be referred to Gujarat Kidney’s renal, urology and wider tertiary-care services under management’s stated medical-tourism model. Across FY23 to FY26, the group reported 2,740 endourology procedures, 200 urologic-oncology procedures, 202 laparoscopic-urology procedures and 35 renal transplants.
Several listed renal sub-specialty procedure counts were lower in FY26 than FY25: endourology was 212 against 850, urologic oncology was 17 against 65, and laparoscopic urology was 18 against 65. The presentation does not explain these movements or confirm comparable period definitions, so they document procedure history rather than demand expected from Dubai.
Gujarat Kidney reported 125 doctors and 450 nurses as of March 31, 2026, compared with 91 doctors and 303 nurses in FY25. It also reported doctors’ attrition of 2.40% to 2.99%, visiting-doctor attrition of 2.10% and 0.00%, and nurse attrition of 0.85% and 0.00% across FY25 and H1 FY26.
Conclusion
Gujarat Kidney’s 51% Blue Tree Clinics purchase adds an overseas polyclinic to a network of 11 listed facilities and platforms, combining Dubai outpatient services with a central-Gujarat hospital model built through leases, full ownership and 51% to 90% controlling stakes. The reported Rs 20-25 crore January-June 2026 revenue gives the Dubai operation an existing operating base, while patient referrals remain an intended mechanism rather than a reported result.
The next disclosed issue is whether Gujarat Kidney completes the remaining 49% acquisition in Blue Tree Clinics, for which no timing is given. Management also plans specialty upgrades at Raj Palmland Hospital, Surya Hospital & ICU and Ashwini Medical Centre, group-wide procurement, possible nursing-home tie-ups and deployment of equipment including a Stryker orthopaedic robot, without providing financial targets or implementation dates.
