What casting orders did Ramkrishna Forgings win in Q2 FY27?
Ramkrishna Forgings won Rs 447 crore of casting orders in Q2 FY27, including Rs 272 crore for North American light-vehicle applications. Management said the North American contract opens an export-market channel for Ramkrishna Forgings' casting business, adding a new customer and product application to the segment.
The casting awards were the largest disclosed component of Rs 673 crore in total new orders secured during the quarter across commercial vehicle, light vehicle, electric vehicle and farm-equipment segments. Ramkrishna Forgings said the total awards have an approximate programme life of four years, providing a stated basis for revenue visibility after development and customer approvals.
The Rs 447 crore casting amount overlaps with the end-market categories in the table and should not be added to the Rs 673 crore total. Management identified the Rs 272 crore North American light-vehicle award as part of the casting orders, while saying the balance of the casting work came from domestic customers.
When will Ramkrishna Forgings start supplying the casting orders?
Ramkrishna Forgings expects regular supply for the Rs 272 crore North American light-vehicle programme after six to nine months of part development, sample work and customer validation. Management described the light-vehicle cycle as longer, so the full order value will not translate immediately into production sales.
The domestic portion of the Rs 447 crore casting orders has a shorter stated route to production. Management said development for domestic work takes about 12 to 14 weeks, after which bulk supplies can begin when samples are approved. This means domestic casting revenue could start before the North American light-vehicle programme begins regular supply.
The Q2 FY27 awards cover programmes with an approximate four-year life, but their sales start dates differ according to application and validation requirements. Ramkrishna Forgings did not disclose annual revenue contributions from the Rs 447 crore orders, production volumes, or the timing of the first domestic dispatches.
Does Ramkrishna Forgings have capacity for the new casting work?
Ramkrishna Forgings said it currently has enough capacity to fulfil the new casting orders and did not announce a dedicated casting-capacity expansion. Management said it would consider any decision on further capacity expenditure in the next financial year, rather than disclosing a confirmed casting project in Q2 FY27.
An analyst referred to casting utilisation of 88% while asking about the Rs 447 crore awards, but management responded only that capacity was sufficient. The call therefore does not provide management-confirmed casting utilisation, spare capacity in tonnes, or a production-capacity figure for the casting operations.
Ramkrishna Forgings separately said utilisation at its aluminium-forging and cold-forging lines was above 50%. Management confirmed aluminium-forging capacity of 3,000 tonnes and said Ramkrishna Forgings was adding customers to raise utilisation, while continuing to export both aluminium-forged and cold-forged products to North America.

How do the orders change Ramkrishna Forgings' export mix?
Ramkrishna Forgings said 52% of its Rs 673 crore Q2 FY27 order wins came from export markets, compared with 48% from domestic markets. The Rs 272 crore North American light-vehicle casting order was therefore part of an order intake that was modestly more export-oriented than domestic.
Management said North America and Europe remain Ramkrishna Forgings' main international growth areas, supported by capacity additions already made and its presence in Mexico. It also cited customer interest in castings, aluminium forgings and higher-value-added products, while saying oil-and-gas product demand remained strong.
Export revenue rose to Rs 424 crore in Q2 FY27 from Rs 277 crore in Q2 FY26. Management said North America had recovered from a subdued prior-year base affected by tariff issues, while Europe had also grown. Europe accounted for about 41% of the geographical mix, up from 28% two years earlier, while North America represented about 58%.
What do the orders mean for Ramkrishna Forgings' financial plans?
The orders were secured as Ramkrishna Forgings reported Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue of Rs 1,405 crore, up 54.9% from Rs 908 crore in Q2 FY26 and 15.5% from Rs 1,217 crore in Q1 FY27. Consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, excluding other income, rose to Rs 256 crore from Rs 123 crore a year earlier and Rs 218 crore in the preceding quarter.
Ramkrishna Forgings' earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation margin was 18.23% in Q2 FY27, against 13.5% in Q2 FY26 and 17.96% in Q1 FY27. Management attributed the improvement to operating leverage from higher capacity utilisation, product mix and operating efficiencies, while saying elevated shipping costs remained within other expenses.
Management said group capital expenditure could reach about Rs 550 crore in FY27, compared with Rs 390 crore spent through H1 FY27, principally for machining and other value-added capabilities. Ramkrishna Forgings also said debt fell by Rs 126 crore during H1 FY27 and retained guidance for a Rs 500 crore reduction in total debt during FY27, without linking the casting orders to separate financing.
Conclusion
The Rs 447 crore casting awards give Ramkrishna Forgings a disclosed entry into North American light-vehicle casting exports while adding domestic casting work with a shorter development cycle. The Rs 272 crore export programme is the largest identified component of the casting awards and forms part of Rs 673 crore in total Q2 FY27 orders, of which exports accounted for 52%.
The next development to watch is conversion of domestic casting work after its stated 12-to-14-week development period and of the North American programme after six to nine months of validation. Management also plans about Rs 550 crore of FY27 group capital expenditure, mainly for machining and value addition, while saying that any further casting-capacity decision would be considered in the next financial year.
