Why did Blue Star’s unitary revenue rise in September?
Blue Star’s unitary-products revenue rose to Rs 897.66 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, from Rs 693.81 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The Rs 203.85 crore increase equates to 29% growth based on the reported segment figures. Unitary products contributed 31% of Blue Star’s total consolidated segment revenue of Rs 2,930.95 crore in the September 2026 quarter, compared with 29% of Rs 2,422.37 crore a year earlier.
The sequential comparison points in the other direction because unitary-products revenue was Rs 1,689.31 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, nearly Rs 791.65 crore higher than the September-quarter figure. Blue Star explicitly identifies the unitary-products business as seasonal. The filing does not specify sales volumes, product categories, pricing, channel inventory, or an operational reason for the year-on-year revenue increase.
What happened to Blue Star’s unitary profit?
Blue Star’s unitary-products PBIT fell to Rs 20.74 crore in the September 2026 quarter from Rs 42.72 crore in the September 2025 quarter, a decline of Rs 21.98 crore or 51%. The decline occurred despite the Rs 203.85 crore revenue increase, reducing reported segment PBIT as a share of segment revenue to about 2.3% from about 6.2%. These percentages are calculated from the segment revenue and PBIT reported in the results.
The quarter-on-quarter movement was also lower: unitary-products PBIT was Rs 49.69 crore in the June 2026 quarter, versus Rs 20.74 crore in the September quarter. For the half year ended September 30, 2026, the segment reported Rs 70.43 crore of PBIT, down from Rs 130.19 crore in the corresponding prior-year half year, while revenue increased to Rs 2,586.97 crore from Rs 2,193.18 crore. The filing provides no segment-level explanation for the lower PBIT.
How did Blue Star’s other segments compare?
Blue Star’s electro-mechanical projects and commercial air conditioning systems segment remained the largest by September-quarter revenue, at Rs 1,935.99 crore, up from Rs 1,664.21 crore a year earlier. Its PBIT, however, declined to Rs 133.15 crore from Rs 147.14 crore. That means its revenue increased by Rs 271.78 crore while its reported PBIT decreased by Rs 13.99 crore during the same comparison.
Blue Star’s professional electronics and industrial systems segment posted increases in both measures. Revenue rose to Rs 97.30 crore in the September 2026 quarter from Rs 64.35 crore a year earlier, while PBIT increased to Rs 23.10 crore from Rs 6.17 crore. Consequently, this segment generated more September-quarter PBIT than the Rs 20.74 crore reported by unitary products, despite recording about one-ninth of unitary-products revenue.

How did the segment mix affect Blue Star’s consolidated results?
Blue Star’s total segment PBIT decreased to Rs 176.99 crore in the September 2026 quarter from Rs 196.03 crore a year earlier, even as consolidated revenue from operations increased to Rs 2,930.95 crore from Rs 2,422.37 crore. The Rs 19.04 crore reduction in total segment PBIT reflects declines in unitary products and the electro-mechanical and commercial air conditioning segment, partly offset by the Rs 16.93 crore increase in professional electronics and industrial systems.
Below segment PBIT, interest and other financial charges were Rs 16.85 crore, almost unchanged from Rs 16.92 crore a year earlier, while unallocable expenditure fell to Rs 26.53 crore from Rs 45.95 crore. This produced profit before share of joint ventures, exceptional items and tax of Rs 133.61 crore, compared with Rs 133.16 crore. Blue Star also recorded a Rs 23.02 crore exceptional gain from the sale of the Medtech Business by wholly owned subsidiary Blue Star Engineering & Electronics Limited.
What do Blue Star’s segment assets and liabilities show?
Blue Star reported unitary-products segment assets of Rs 2,781.42 crore at September 30, 2026, compared with Rs 2,860.93 crore a year earlier and Rs 2,750.62 crore at June 30, 2026. Segment liabilities stood at Rs 1,201.48 crore, up from Rs 1,022.57 crore a year earlier but down from Rs 1,517.86 crore three months earlier. The results do not provide a product-level or working-capital explanation for these movements.
The electro-mechanical projects and commercial air conditioning segment held Rs 4,184.52 crore of assets at September 30, 2026, the largest of Blue Star’s operating segments, and Rs 2,753.03 crore of liabilities. Professional electronics and industrial systems reported Rs 105.60 crore of assets and Rs 120.64 crore of liabilities. Total segment assets were Rs 8,485.88 crore, up from Rs 7,900.70 crore at September 30, 2025, while total segment liabilities were Rs 4,996.09 crore versus Rs 4,786.88 crore.
Conclusion
The September 2026 segment data show that higher consolidated revenue of Rs 2,930.95 crore did not translate into higher aggregate segment PBIT, which declined to Rs 176.99 crore. Professional electronics and industrial systems offset part of the PBIT declines in unitary products and electro-mechanical projects, while the Rs 23.02 crore exceptional gain helped raise reported profit before tax to Rs 157.30 crore from Rs 132.17 crore.
The next results will show whether the seasonal unitary-products business moves closer to its June 2026 quarterly PBIT of Rs 49.69 crore after recording Rs 20.74 crore in September. Blue Star’s filing does not explain the gap between the segment’s 29% year-on-year revenue growth and its 51% PBIT decline, leaving that relationship a key matter for future segment disclosures.
