What caused Jain Irrigation's standalone Q2 loss?
Jain Irrigation's standalone loss resulted from finance costs exceeding combined segment result in the September 2026 quarter. The Hi-tech Agri Input Products and Plastic divisions together produced Rs 53.56 crore of segment result, while finance costs were Rs 73.25 crore. Net unallocated income of Rs 2.57 crore partly offset that difference, leaving a pre-tax loss of Rs 17.12 crore.
Jain Irrigation recorded a net loss of Rs 17.65 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, compared with a Rs 13.99 crore loss in the quarter ended June 30, 2026 and a Rs 1.96 crore profit in the quarter ended September 30, 2025. The loss widened by Rs 3.66 crore sequentially and reversed the profit recorded a year earlier despite higher operating revenue.
Jain Irrigation's total income was Rs 727.66 crore in the September quarter, comprising Rs 725.09 crore of revenue from operations and Rs 2.57 crore of other income. Total expenses were Rs 744.78 crore, including Rs 73.25 crore of finance costs, Rs 36.27 crore of depreciation and amortisation, and Rs 127.47 crore of other expenses. The difference between income and expenses produced the Rs 17.12 crore pre-tax loss.
