Why did Jain’s consolidated revenue rise while standalone revenue fell?
Jain’s consolidated revenue increased by Rs 107 crore from Rs 2,978 crore in 1H FY26 to Rs 3,085 crore in 1H FY27, while standalone revenue declined by Rs 186 crore from Rs 1,610.4 crore to Rs 1,424.4 crore. The consolidated reporting includes Hi-Tech Agri, Plastic and Agro Processing, whereas the standalone disclosure lists Hi-Tech Agri and Plastic.
The difference also appeared in the second quarter. Consolidated revenue rose 10.1% year on year to Rs 1,576.7 crore in 2Q FY27, compared with a 4.9% increase in standalone revenue to Rs 725.1 crore. Jain said overseas plastic operations and agro-processing businesses performed well during the quarter, while its domestic pipe business remained stable.
Which businesses drove Jain’s first-half revenue growth?
Jain’s Agro Processing division delivered the fastest reported first-half revenue growth, with sales rising 13.7% to Rs 1,106.7 crore from Rs 973.5 crore. Management attributed the increase to overseas subsidiaries, particularly the US business, while Indian fruit-processing volumes grew 61.1% and the beverage bottling unit added revenue.
Plastic revenue rose 8.2% to Rs 1,029.7 crore from Rs 952 crore, driven by substantial growth in overseas plastic operations. That gain was partly offset by a 15.1% decline in the domestic pipe business. In 2Q FY27, Plastic revenue increased 17.7% to Rs 519.9 crore as higher exports from India added to overseas growth.
Hi-Tech Agri moved in the opposite direction, with first-half consolidated revenue declining 9.9% to Rs 948.6 crore from Rs 1,052.5 crore. Jain said Micro Irrigation Systems revenue fell 12.5% because of a strategic reduction in project business, while exports were lower amid global uncertainty. Tissue Culture revenue nevertheless grew 8.7% in the first half.
How did Jain’s standalone segments and profitability perform?
Jain’s standalone Hi-Tech Agri revenue declined 10.3% to Rs 946.1 crore in 1H FY27, while standalone Plastic revenue fell 14.0% to Rs 478.3 crore. Hi-Tech Agri represented 66% of standalone revenue and Plastic accounted for 34%. The Hi-Tech Agri decline was Rs 108.2 crore, compared with a Rs 77.8 crore decline in Plastic.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, fell 21.4% to Rs 181.5 crore from Rs 231 crore, and the standalone EBITDA margin narrowed to 12.7% from 14.3%. Hi-Tech Agri EBITDA declined 16.9% to Rs 155.5 crore, while Plastic EBITDA fell 40.8% to Rs 26 crore. Plastic’s margin declined to 5.4% from 7.9%.
Jain reported a standalone loss after tax of Rs 28.4 crore in 1H FY27, compared with a profit after tax of Rs 9 crore a year earlier. Adjusted profit after tax, calculated before non-cash finance-cost unwinding on 0.01% non-convertible debentures, was Rs 14.1 crore, down from Rs 47.9 crore. Cash profit after tax decreased to Rs 58.6 crore from Rs 91.7 crore.

Did overseas growth protect consolidated margins?
Jain’s consolidated EBITDA declined 7.3% to Rs 371.9 crore in 1H FY27 despite the 3.6% revenue increase, reducing the EBITDA margin to 12.1% from 13.5%. Hi-Tech Agri EBITDA fell 15.4% to Rs 158.6 crore and Agro Processing EBITDA decreased 4.9% to Rs 108.7 crore, showing that revenue growth did not translate into higher group operating profit.
Plastic was the only consolidated division to report higher first-half EBITDA, rising 5.1% to Rs 104.6 crore from Rs 99.5 crore. Jain said overseas plastic EBITDA grew 34.6%, but higher polymer prices and lower fixed-cost absorption affected domestic margins. The division’s overall EBITDA margin edged down to 10.2% from 10.5%.
The second-quarter result was more favourable, with consolidated EBITDA rising 4.2% to Rs 207.5 crore and adjusted profit after tax increasing to Rs 39.5 crore from Rs 34.9 crore. However, the quarterly EBITDA margin declined to 13.2% from 13.9%. Management attributed the margin movement to polymer prices and fixed-cost absorption, and said it expects recovery in the second half.
What changed in Jain’s working capital and debt position?
Jain’s consolidated net working-capital cycle improved by 26 days to 179 days at 30 September 2026, from 205 days at 30 September 2025. The company cited substantial Hi-Tech receivables recovery during 2Q FY27, which contributed to a 15-day improvement in overall receivables days. Cash from operations was Rs 335 crore, equal to 90% of first-half EBITDA.
Standalone net working capital improved to 271 days at 30 September 2026 from 284 days a year earlier, but remained above the consolidated 179-day cycle. Standalone cash from operations was Rs 182 crore, equal to 100% of EBITDA. Reported consolidated borrowings were Rs 3,874 crore at 30 September 2026, compared with Rs 3,891.2 crore at 30 June 2026.
Jain’s outstanding 0.01% non-convertible debentures declined to Rs 603.5 crore at 30 September 2026 from Rs 831.1 crore at 31 March 2026. Its repayment schedule listed Rs 462.6 crore of those debentures due in the remaining six months of FY27 and Rs 140.9 crore due in FY28. The company also disclosed a Rs 74 crore payment in October 2026 against Food-Consolidated debt.
Conclusion
Jain’s first-half results show that growth in overseas Plastic and Agro Processing supported a 3.6% increase in consolidated revenue, but did not prevent operating-profit pressure. Consolidated EBITDA fell 7.3%, while the standalone business recorded an 11.5% sales decline and a 21.4% EBITDA decline as Hi-Tech Agri and Plastic revenues contracted.
The next reporting period will show whether management’s expectation of a second-half margin recovery is achieved despite polymer costs and lower fixed-cost absorption. Progress on the Rs 462.6 crore 0.01% non-convertible debenture repayment scheduled in the remaining FY27 period, along with the continuation of the 179-day consolidated working-capital cycle, remains material to monitor.
