MMP Industries Ltd is targeting Q4FY27 commercial production from an 18,000-metric-tonnes-per-annum (MTPA) aluminium wire-rod facility to support backward integration in conductors and cables, after that segment recorded Rs 33 crore of revenue in H1FY27. MMP also expects low-voltage cable sales to gain momentum from Q4FY27, subject to utility approvals.

What is MMP's Q4FY27 wire-rod plan?
MMP is targeting commercial production from its 18,000-MTPA aluminium wire-rod facility in Q4FY27. The company says the project is at an advanced stage and is intended to support backward integration and margin improvement in its conductors and cables business.
The wire-rod project adds an upstream manufacturing step to MMP's aluminium conductor portfolio, which includes all-aluminium conductors (AAC), all-aluminium alloy conductors (AAAC) and aluminium conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) products. The presentation does not disclose the project cost, factory location, a commissioning date within Q4FY27, planned utilisation or the share of output intended for internal consumption.
The target is separate from MMP's low-voltage (LT) cable rollout. MMP has received Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for LT power cables, whereas the wire-rod project is disclosed as a facility intended to integrate the supply chain and improve margins.
Why did MMP's conductors and cables revenue slow in H1FY27?
MMP reported Rs 33 crore of conductors and cables revenue in H1FY27, and attributed subdued sales in Q2FY27 to monsoon-related delays in project execution. The segment represented about 7% of MMP's total revenue in H1FY27, compared with about 28% for the foil business.
The H1FY27 result was below the Rs 100 crore recorded in FY26, although the periods are not directly comparable because H1FY27 covers six months. In the preceding full years, segment revenue increased from Rs 79 crore in FY24 to Rs 97 crore in FY25 and Rs 100 crore in FY26, before the weather-linked Q2FY27 disruption.
Management expects H2FY27 conductors and cables revenue to be 40% to 50% higher than H1FY27 revenue. On the Rs 33 crore H1FY27 base, that statement is an outlook rather than reported revenue; the presentation gives no FY27 segment forecast, order-book value or monthly project-execution data.
How do LT cables fit MMP's expansion plan?
MMP is expanding beyond aluminium conductors into LT power cables, with 1,200 metric tonnes of LT-cable capacity reported at September 2026. BIS certification has been received, while utility approvals remain at an advanced stage, according to the presentation.
MMP expects commercial LT-cable sales to gain momentum from Q4FY27, subject to those outstanding utility approvals. The qualification means available capacity alone does not determine sales timing, and the presentation does not identify the utilities, number of pending approvals or cable volume awaiting clearance.
The cable line serves the power transmission and distribution market alongside MMP's established conductor products. MMP also identifies telecommunications, infrastructure and renewable-energy projects as applications, but does not provide product-level selling prices, cable revenue or segment margin information for H1FY27.

How has MMP's capacity changed before the wire-rod start?
MMP's conductors and cables capacity remained at 7,200 metric tonnes from March 2018 through September 2026. The recorded capacity change by September 2026 was the addition of 1,200 metric tonnes of LT-cable capacity, while the 18,000-MTPA wire-rod facility remained under development.
Revenue changed materially even while the 7,200-tonne conductors and cables capacity was unchanged. The segment declined from Rs 58 crore in FY18 to Rs 17 crore in FY21, a period marked in the presentation for Covid effect, then rose to Rs 40 crore in FY23 and Rs 100 crore in FY26; MMP does not disclose capacity utilisation for those years.
The targeted 18,000-MTPA wire-rod capacity exceeds the 7,200-tonne conductors and cables capacity reported at September 2026. However, MMP does not state whether all wire rod will be used internally, supplied to other group operations, sold to external customers or supported by further downstream capacity additions.
What other electrical approvals does MMP have?
MMP also manufactures polymer insulators through MMP Electricals Private Limited, with a product range from 11 kilovolts to 765 kilovolts. This business contributed about 1% of total revenue in H1FY27 and had annual capacity of 10 lakh units, while the presentation states capital expenditure of Rs 35 crore to Rs 40 crore.
The polymer-insulator business lists approved distribution customers including MSEDCL, PGVCL, CSPDCL, GUVNL, O2 Power of JSW Group and Adani Green Energy, plus transmission approvals from HPSEBL and MSETCL. POWERGRID, GETCO, Sterlite Power (Resonia), MPPTCL, KPTCL, TPCTCL, CSPTCL and OPTCL remained under process when the presentation was issued.
MMP says polymer-insulator factory inspections have been completed for registrations with major utilities and that export orders have been secured from Latin America and South Asia. These are separate approval processes from the advanced utility approvals for LT cables, and the presentation does not disclose export-order values, delivery dates or insulator revenue.
Conclusion
MMP's Q4FY27 wire-rod production target links its 18,000-MTPA upstream project with a conductors and cables business that generated Rs 100 crore in FY26 but Rs 33 crore in H1FY27 after monsoon-related project delays. The 1,200-tonne LT-cable line broadens the portfolio, while the wire-rod facility is intended to provide backward integration rather than a disclosed increase in finished-conductor capacity.
The next disclosed milestones are the targeted Q4FY27 commercial production start for wire rod, utility approvals required for LT-cable sales momentum and management's expectation for H2FY27 conductors and cables revenue to be 40% to 50% above H1FY27. MMP has not disclosed plant utilisation, project cost, wire-rod allocation or the timing of individual cable approvals.
