How will GTI reach 18,000 MTPA of group capacity?
GTI will have 18,000 MTPA of group capacity on commissioning, according to its H1 FY27 investor presentation. The stated mix comprises 9,200 MTPA of certified capacity at Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh, 5,000 MTPA in Assam, and 3,800 MTPA from new lines and Nepal. The Assam location is described as having about 5,000 MTPA, although the group-capacity table records 5,000 MTPA.
The Paonta Sahib facility has five double-twist gabion lines and four polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, coating lines. It is located on an owned site of 9,273 square metres. GTI identifies PVC coating, double-twist mesh weaving, RockNet fabrication and geomat extrusion as in-house processes, showing that its manufacturing activity extends beyond final gabion assembly.
GTI does not split the 3,800 MTPA category between the new lines and Nepal. The presentation does state that Nepal capacity is counted within the 18,000 MTPA group total, so it should not be added separately to the disclosed group figure. It also does not provide a commissioning date for the new lines or individual capacity data for the Nepal operation.
What does the Assam unit add to GTI's network?
GTI's Assam unit near Guwahati is operational with about 5,000 MTPA capacity for gabions and on-site PVC coating. The unit is positioned near the North-East, which accounted for 27% of FY25 sales. The presentation links the location to a region that already represented more than one-quarter of GTI's disclosed FY25 sales mix.
Assam adds a second identified Indian manufacturing location alongside the 9,200 MTPA certified Paonta Sahib facility. Paonta Sahib has five double-twist lines and four PVC coating lines, while the Assam disclosure specifically highlights gabion production with on-site PVC coating. GTI does not disclose Assam-specific production, revenue or utilisation, so the unit's contribution to output cannot be quantified from the presentation.
GTI's manufacturing process begins with galvanised iron, or GI, wire sourced from mills in Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Chhattisgarh. The company then PVC-coats wire, weaves hexagonal mesh on double-twist lines, and completes edge winding, cutting, assembly and packing. Its project-execution model can use material from its own units and approved vendors during site mobilisation.
Management also identifies an in-house PVC compound plan as the next backward-integration step. The presentation provides no date, capital cost or incremental capacity for this plan. It should therefore be treated separately from the disclosed 18,000 MTPA capacity composition of Paonta Sahib, Assam, new lines and Nepal.

How has GTI's production changed before expansion?
GTI's production rose from 7,360 metric tonnes, or MT, in FY23 to 9,108 MT in FY26, an increase of 1,748 MT. Production increased by 1,132 MT in FY24, then by 96 MT in FY25 and by 520 MT in FY26. Although the presentation labels the chart “Production and Utilisation”, it reports production tonnes rather than utilisation percentages.
The largest year-on-year increase in the disclosed series occurred in FY24, when production moved from 7,360 MT to 8,492 MT. Growth then slowed to 96 MT in FY25 before increasing to 520 MT in FY26. This four-year record predates the stated 18,000 MTPA group capacity on commissioning and does not constitute a forecast of production after commissioning.
FY26 production of 9,108 MT was 92 MT below Paonta Sahib's stated 9,200 MTPA certified capacity. However, annual production and annual rated capacity are not enough to calculate utilisation because GTI does not provide matched plant-level production, operating-period information or a utilisation percentage. The source also does not state how much FY26 output came from Assam or Nepal.
How do Nepal and Bangladesh fit GTI's footprint?
GTI holds 74.44% of Gabion Technologies Nepal Pvt Ltd, which has operated from Morang since February 2022. The Nepal subsidiary undertakes manufacturing, design, trading and installation of gabions, rockfall nettings and geosynthetics. Its capacity is included within the 18,000 MTPA group figure, and the presentation describes local manufacturing and execution as closer to Himalayan project sites.
Nepal subsidiary revenue increased from Rs 6.64 crore in FY24 to Rs 7.05 crore in FY25, an increase of Rs 41 lakh, before declining to Rs 1.86 crore in FY26. FY26 revenue was Rs 5.19 crore below FY25. GTI does not explain the FY26 movement, provide Nepal's standalone MTPA capacity, or separate revenue from manufacturing, design, trading and installation.
GTI also owns 100% of Gabion Technologies BD Ltd in Dhaka, which has operated since June 2021. The Bangladesh company is described as having a strategic role in contracting, geosynthetic solutions, reinforced-earth walls, and trading of gabions and related materials. Unlike Nepal, Bangladesh is not assigned manufacturing capacity within the 18,000 MTPA group total.
The disclosed subsidiary roles are therefore different. Nepal combines manufacturing and execution and forms part of group capacity, while Bangladesh focuses on trading and execution to strengthen access to South Asian infrastructure markets. GTI does not disclose Bangladesh revenue, project values or capacity in the H1 FY27 presentation, preventing a numerical comparison with Nepal's Rs 1.86 crore FY26 revenue.
Conclusion
GTI's disclosed 18,000 MTPA group capacity on commissioning combines the 9,200 MTPA certified Paonta Sahib facility, the operational Assam unit with 5,000 MTPA, and 3,800 MTPA from new lines and Nepal. Assam places gabion manufacturing and PVC coating near a region that contributed 27% of FY25 sales, while Nepal adds manufacturing and execution within the same group-capacity total.
The next disclosures to watch are commissioning details for the new lines within the 3,800 MTPA category and any separate capacity information for Nepal. Management's in-house PVC compound plan has no disclosed date, cost or capacity effect. Subsequent production data, following FY26 output of 9,108 MT, can indicate how the expanded manufacturing footprint is being used.
