Which app shows the Nifty 50 constituents in 2026?

Quick Answer: The official Nifty 50 constituents list is a free CSV on niftyindices.com, published by NSE Indices, the NSE subsidiary that runs the index. The file downloaded on 18 September 2026 names 50 companies, led by HDFC Bank at a 9.85% weight (factsheet, 31 August 2026). Multibagg's Nifty 50 page shows the top ten weights and sector split.
Plenty of market apps in India display a Nifty 50 list, but the index itself is owned and managed by NSE Indices Limited. So the useful question is less "which app" and more "how current is the copy".
That matters because the index is reviewed twice a year and weights move every trading session. This guide covers where the list lives, all 50 companies by industry, how weights are set, and the one change due on 30 September 2026.
How do the NSE Indices file and index apps compare?
Multibagg's Nifty 50 index page shows the top ten weights, while the complete list is the constituents file on NSE Indices' Nifty 50 page. That file held 50 companies when downloaded on 18 September 2026. NSE Indices owns the index, so any other list should match it. Where to look:
- NSE Indices website: the CSV lists company name, industry, NSE symbol, series and ISIN for all 50 stocks.
- Multibagg: the Nifty 50 index page on Multibagg shows the index level, P/E and 52-week range, and its constituents section lists the top ten companies by weightage and the top ten sectors, matching the 31 August 2026 factsheet. The page also has an Ask Iris entry point.
- Other apps: Tickertape's Nifty 50 index page lists the index's stocks with sector weightage (checked 18 September 2026).
Whichever app you open, compare its list against NSE Indices' file. Check the date. An app that has not refreshed after a review can show a stock that has already left the index, or miss one that has joined.

How are Nifty 50 weightages calculated?
Each stock's weight is its free-float market capitalisation as a share of the index total. NSE's methodology works it out as shares outstanding × investible weight factor (IWF) × capping factor × price.
Shares not normally available to trade are stripped out by the IWF, and under the methodology document (September 2026 edition) those include promoter holdings, government holdings other than through insurers, strategic investment by corporate bodies, FDI, private equity and locked-in shares. So a company with a large promoter stake carries less weight than its full market value suggests.
Nifty 50 sector weights (NSE Indices factsheet, as of 31 Aug 2026)
| Sector | Weight (%) |
|---|---|
| Financial Services | 36.47 |
| Oil, Gas & Consumable Fuels | 9.52 |
| Information Technology | 8.48 |
| Automobile and Auto Components | 7.06 |
| Fast Moving Consumer Goods | 5.41 |
| Telecommunication | 5.00 |
| Healthcare | 4.80 |
| Metals & Mining | 4.58 |
| Construction | 4.30 |
| Consumer Services | 3.02 |
| Consumer Durables | 3.00 |
| Power | 2.49 |
| Construction Materials | 2.38 |
| Services | 2.14 |
| Capital Goods | 1.35 |
Financial Services carries 36.47% of the index in the Nifty 50 factsheet dated 31 August 2026, against 1.35% for Capital Goods. Weights follow prices. That is why daily Nifty and Sensex moves shift these figures between monthly factsheets.
How often is the Nifty 50 rebalanced?
The Nifty 50 is reviewed twice a year, on data to 31 January and 31 July, with changes effective from the last trading day of March and September. Reviews use six-month averages. NSE Indices gives four weeks' notice before any change. A stock outside the index qualifies only if its six-month average free-float market cap is at least 1.5 times the smallest constituent's, and additions are capped at five a calendar year.
You can see the rule at work in the latest review. The NSE Indices press release of 10 August 2026 excluded Wipro and included BSE Ltd., effective 30 September 2026 (close of 29 September).
BSE's six-month average free-float market cap was ₹1,40,879 crore in that 10 August 2026 release, against Wipro's ₹55,930 crore. TVS Motor Company (₹84,566 crore) and Divi's Laboratories (₹82,930 crore) missed out in August 2026 because neither reached 1.5 times the two smallest remaining constituents, HDFC Life (₹65,666 crore) and Tata Consumer Products (₹73,054 crore).
An earlier review, announced on 23 February 2026, left the Nifty 50 unchanged. Under the methodology, the next scheduled review uses data to 31 January 2027, with any change from the last trading day of March 2027. Mergers, demergers, delistings or loss of F&O trading can also trigger an unscheduled replacement.
Where does NSE publish the official list?
NSE Indices posts the constituents CSV, a monthly factsheet (latest dated 31 August 2026) and the methodology on its Nifty 50 page, and announces changes by press release. Each answers a different question:
- Constituents CSV: which 50 companies are in the index today, with industry and ISIN.
- Factsheet: the top ten weights, sector weights, P/E, P/B and dividend yield at month-end.
- Methodology document: the eligibility, weighting and review rules.
- Press releases: what is changing and from which date.
The CSV shows the index only as of the day you download it, so read it with the latest press release. Our explainer on Nifty BeES, an ETF that tracks the Nifty 50 shows how an index fund holds these constituents.
